Lisi got a reaction from JadeyHexed in Nich-Nick is Missing in Action
I'm really disappointed to hear this news as well. Nich-Nick has been such an asset to this community. She has been so patient and understanding with answering questions from people, questions that probably get asked many many times, over and over and each time, she's come in and replied fairly and informatively. I even told her that I was so appreciative to her that I'd buy her a Starbucks gift card when we got our approval. Well today, we got our approval and I've got a Starbucks card with her name on it!!
This forum has been so informative. I know I wouldn't have been able to navigate the K1 process without it. She was a huge part in making me understand it all.
I hope that she does what's best for her, but I know that if she leaves for good, she'll be greatly missed. It'd be great to see her come back!

Lisi reacted to Vanitas in TOS Violations and Moderator Responses
So I've just had a chat with another member of the forums and found out that someone I consider a good friend has decided to leave the forum because of a moderator decision by Ryan H. Specifically, the member leaving is Nich-Nick, a longtime helper on this site and essentially the "mother" of the UK Regional Forum.
Can someone tell me why the hell she was suspended? Because this is getting ridiculous - do you actually want people helping on this site, or not? Because your moderator just caused one of the best helpers on this site to leave, and frankly it is an absolute disgrace.

    Bring nich-nick back!
To put it a few words, without her, I wouldn't have a clue about this process and probably would be stuck with a few RFEs. We couldn't have gone as far as the K1/AOS without her guidance. I solely follow her words, I barely looked at the guides on the site.
She IS the UK forum, not just an adviser.

The integrity of the information may not be what gets people started here, but it's knowledgeable posters, especially those with the patience and perseverance to stay around a while, that keep people coming back, as they navigate their way through this process.
The subtitle in the banner at the top of the page reads "Your US Immigration Community". When we lose those posters willing to be an active part of helping the community, we run the risk of diminishing the usefulness of the site as a whole, as a wealth of experience from that member is lost.

This is ridiculous, users like Nich Nick are a huge asset to this site and a big reason why this site is so useful. If the moderator's drive away the knowledgeable people who put so much of their own time into the site to help others then this site will go backwards fast :/

Do you have any family or friends who could come and take her out for the day once or twice a week?
The first month I was here my mother-in-law took me out and showed me various things in the local towns which she thought might be helpful and introduced me to all her favourite places and friends.
Are you planning a wedding? Does she have access to a computer to do that herself?
Have you got your state DMV guide so that she can start learning it for her theory test?
How about you give her a budget for redecorating a few rooms, or all the rooms in your home? I loved doing that when I first arrived - even if I was just rearranging the furniture to make it feel more like home. She could plan during the week and you could do trips to the Home Depot etc on weekends and make the decorating a family project.
Are there any other expats from her country near by to meet for coffee etc - try Meetup.com for ideas
When I first arrived I went to the tourist information center and picked up piles of brochures and leaflets on local attractions just to read and get a feel for the local area. And also bought some big maps to study to really get to know the local roads etc (I know, paper maps, very old school but I find it easier to really get a feel for a place than Google maps)

Lisi got a reaction from vision1400 in RFE Divorce Decree
I got the RFE letter today and it says, "The divorce decree submitted does not show evidence of being civilly filed, signed by a judge, or recorded. As such, the peripheral is requested to submit a legible copy, including all pages of the final divorce decree that shows proof of filing that terminated the prior marriage."
Has anyone else had this or knows what info to send? Help please!
