And if he or his mother (in jamaica who cant help him) has an issue doing chores no matter what they be send his ### back home to his momma . Hello, my fiancé just arrived 10days ago K1 visa from jamaica. We still have not martied yet. I am trying to apply for his SSN however on the website it says he has to have proof of being able to work in the US we have not yet gotten and EAD card. Do I have to wait to receive that card before I get his SSN?

I was in administrative processing for 5 weeks after my interview and the same thing happened to me where my creation date changed to July 1st.....I think this happened because after the interview your case is "created" at the embassy level. I did not get changed to administrative processing until July 29th then on the 31st ot was issued my fiancé just picked up package from DHL yesterday. Good luck.

Yup sounds about right. It takes a little over a month to get a date. And this has been the trend for K1 filers all year. Check some timelines as reference. Use the time to get ready as the previous person suggested. You medical alone will have to be done 2 weeks before the interview. So the time flies.

Not to mention after you are approved it takes another month or longer to get the visa in your hand!!!!! The wait is barely over but you ate half way there.

The online process for the forms are perfect! Although with the 157 you have to bring in a paper copy as well to the interview. The DS-230 fill that out ASAP! I had my fiancé sighn it and return it to me as soon as I new I was approved. This way I could email it to them the moment I got my KNG number from DOS. The sooner you email the DS-230 the sooner your interview is scheduled usually 5 weeks from the date they receive your emailed DS-230

Honey. Don't hold your breath. My fiancé never received his package! This is what I did. I personally sent the embassy a emailed scanned sighned copy of the DS-230. I waited 5 days. Then I emailed them and asked that they assign him a interview date. And send me an exact replica of the packet they will be mailin to him. That is how we progressed. My fiancé interviewed on June 28 and to this day the packet never reached his post office in Portland. So don't wait for it trust me! Inbox me if you need more advice
