If she is going back by herself she MAY get hassled by customs in Vietnam, especially if she is bringing tablets/smartphones as gifts. VN has been restricting these and charging duties. Back in MAy my wife and I went to Vietnam and the customs guy told us that we were only allowed 1 tablet and 1 phone for each of us but my gut feeling at the time was that if I had not been with her, the guy at customs would have tried a shakedown. When I came forward and said I was her husband and answered some of his questions in Vietnamese his attitude changed from stern to friendly very quick. Not sure if that helps you or not, just my personal experience

no way to answer this until you get there, my wife and her friend both had K1 interviews on the same day and my wife was asked 4 questions with a translator even though my wife did not request a translator. My wife's friend was not provided a translator and had to conduct the interview entirely in english and was asked about 15 questions.

depends on what part of VN she lives, near HCMC is always faster but post your customs number and I will take a look tomorrow when I get to work. When I mailed things to my wife the average was within 2 weeks but she lived close to HCMC

and the private courier service is safer than the post office, so no worries there, and it took my fiance 2 weeks from the day of her interview until she got her passport back

I had the same situation as you...was unable to attend the interview but my wife got her visa and I flew over to pick her up

I am currently in the process of applying for the visa exemption for travel to Vietnam. I will update this later with more details and review of how the process goes....wish me luck!

Never heard of such a thing, March 17 2014 my wife and I flew from Tan Son Nhat and never had to pay anything extra

Also if you don't meet the income requirements, you are going to have to have a sponser

Hello all....My wife got her GC on the 25th of February. We had an rfe to correct her vaccination record but everything went smoothly and the USCIS case officer was awesome and very friendly. Wish you all the best of luck!
-
my wife only received Td and MMR which were administered in Vietnan, the other vaccines were not required.

Your 1040 and W2 for the most current year will show your income and that is what USCIS cares about, they want to make sure you can support you dependents

Thanks for sharing, that really gets my blood boiling and its totally out of order. I would take a copy of the GC with some details blacked out for security reasons and send it with a thank you card. Thank you for being such a money grabbing liar!
HAHA.....my wife said something similar, she wanted to go back in person and shove the GC in the doctors face!!!!

my wife had a folder about 3 inches thick with chat logs, western union receipts, pictures and emails......interviewer never asked to see any of that. I think 99% of the time they have already made a decision before the interview.

I had posted a rant in the Vietnam section but just wanted to share the end result of getting an updated DS-3025 which was missing 3 vaccinations
Finally got this problem solved...Civil surgeons are crooks!! the doctor tried to con me and my wife in to having another complete physical exam done. She said that immigration will not accept the new vaccination supplement without the full I-693 done. That means new chest x-rays, blood tests and another round of vaccines. I explained that the case worker from USCIS just wanted the updated vaccination supplement and a new physical exam did not need to be completed. This doctor told me that the case worker was wrong and my wife would be denied!!! I was really pissed off and told the doctor that I am going to take the word of the case worker who is the person making the final determination, over a doctor that just wants to make an extra buck!!! After a back and forth with the doctor she agreed to provide the updated DS-3025, but she again told me I was wrong and that we would have to come back and completed a new exam. I feel very sorry for people that do not have a complete grasp of the language and don't have someone to advocate for them and look out for their best interests because these civil surgeons can definitely trick them into spending hundreds of extra dollars when it is not necessary....BTW my wife was approved and her card is in production!

It was difficult to find any civil surgeons that actually do just the shots. I had to explain several times that she only required 3 vaccinations but most required a complete exam which is $270 plus the $319 for the shots....the cheapest that I could find was only $99 for the office visit and $319 for the shots. My insurance won't cover it because they said it is not medically necessary...BS

Congratulations!!

just get a quickie courthouse wedding and save the ceremony for a later date. My wife and I got married at the courthouse in May and we had our ceremony in August. You don't have to try to plan the whole ceremony to fit into the 90 day window

Hep B
Meningoccocal
Varicella

My wife did her biometrics on 8/5/2014 and we just went to the interview yesterday...have patience
-
My wife received an rfe for her EAD card because uscis wants the physical address but nowhere on the application does it require a physical address. It only asks for your US mailing address. If they require that information maybe it should be listed on the form. I am Just ranting at their stupidity!!!
-
My wife and I went to the interview yesterday and she was given an RFE for 3 vaccinations that she has to get, called around to several of the civil surgeons and the cheapest one I found is going to charge $446 for the office visit and the 3 shots, but after that she will get her green card.

No..I-693 was completed in Vietnam and submitted in the sealed envelope when she went through POE.

These are the words from homeland security about the recent travel restrictions
"For the next 90 days, nearly all travelers, except U.S. citizens, traveling on passports from Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Iran, Somalia, Libya, and Yemen will be temporarily suspended from entry to the United States. The 90 day period will allow for proper review and establishment of standards to prevent terrorist or criminal infiltration by foreign nationals."
