  1. Hi Everybody and Happy Holidays

How far in advance can the medical be done? Since my wife lives in Saskatoon and her only options are ontario montreal and surrey. She might be going to Vancouver soon. so I am thinking she can do her medical there. We just got our NOA2 on Dec 13 and are waiting to start the NVC process.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. nlr,

thanks so much for that advice wow what a hassle. I cant beleive they dont have other medical options. I am the us citizen and actually went through the process to immigrate to Canada before my wife and I decided to move to the US. I had many more options and cities for medical providers than she does going the other way.

  3. Does anyone know how far in advance the medical has to be scheduled before the interview. The reason I am asking is my wife lives in the Saskatoon area and presumably I will meet her in Montreal for her interview, but we want to limit our time there and want to kill both the medical and interview within a few days for time and money reasons?

    thanks in advance

  4. Hi

I was curious is there a number in your visa that serves as a temporary green card. The reason I am asking is I spoke to a Health care rep in my state about insurance. She said there is a box for legal permanent resident holders on the form but there needs to be a number. So with a number my wife can sign up for the health care plan. otherwise I need to find alternate plans for her healthcare insurance

    thanks in advance

  5. Greetings Forum members,

I am just trying to get a timeline for the process from each step. I know the process from start to finish is 10 months to a year. My wife who is filipina is a Canadian permanent resident and applying for her canadian citizenship simultaneously to our application. So we might try to delay the processing if her citizenship is not getting finalized as anticipated. My questions are:

    1. Once the visa center sends my wife in Canada the packet of forms to fill out like her police clearances and so forth, How long does she have to turn those papers in? Or does she take everything with her to the interview?

    2. Does the visa center schedule the interview or does she schedule with a certain time frame allotted once everything is approved?

    3. I beleive she has 6 months to enter after the visa is issued. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance for any feedback

  6. Greetings Forum members,

I am just putting together my application for my wifes application. How many documents or photos is recommended to include for this evidence?

I am thinking of sending about 10 photos including our marriage ceremony and trips together as well as letters, cards, and lease agreement and utility bill of the 2 and 1/2 months we lived together in Canada. Is this enough?

    Thanks in advance

  7. Hi,

Will my IR1/CR1 visa possibly be denied due to previous applications? I applied in 2000 and 2008 and 2009 for previous fiancees but have been horribly unlucky and executed very bad judgement. I withdrew all applications very early in the process in all 3 applications and received confirmation of cancellation in all 3 cases. I have been happily married now and hope I will not have a problem. I plan to explain my past in a seperate letter in section D of the application. Is this suggested or should I just list dates and names.

  8. Hi,

My wife just bought a new Nissan in Canada a few months ago thinking we would be making Canada our long term home. However, we decided that the states would be better. Her car is financed. Will she be able to take it across the border or will she have to sell it before immigrating?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

  9. Hello everybody,

I am new to this forum but I have so many questions! I would be grateful for any help.

I am an US Citizen married to a Canadian/Filipina dual citizen. We were married on March 28, 2012 in Vancouver, Canada. My wife has sponsored me for a Canadian Permanent Resident Visa in May of last year. We were planning to live in Canada but have now decided the US is a better option for many reasons. I am still waiting on the approval from the Canadian government on my PR visa application but it can come anyday now. I have been in Canada for a month on a visitor visa but I am planning to go back to the US in June.

At that time, I plan to file the IR1/CR1 for her to immigrate to the US. In the meantime, if my Canadian visa is approved can i stay in Canada and wait for my US visa to be approved so I can be with my wife? What if any options do we have in order to stay together ? Do I need to be physically present in the US the whole time my IR1/CR1 application is in process?

We were hoping for direct consular filing but heard Canada now longer processes this?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
