  1. Hello VJ family,

I became a US citizen yesterday. The oath ceremony took place at the Federal Court House downtown Detroit. The judge was very pleasant and down to earth, did an interesting presentation on his family immigration from Italy.

I believe there were 79 people from more than 20 countries.

Please mark me red. It feels incredible and I cannot wait for all of you here to feel the same.

Thank you all for your continuous support and good luck!

  2. Hello VJ family,

I had my interview today. It went very well and smoothly. The officer was nice and kind, made me feel relaxed. My opinion of Detroit Field Office has always been favorable and I always had positive experience there. So today was no exception.

I`ll give you the answers instead of the questions I was asked, so that everybody still in line would practice:

    - 435

    - 2

    - George Washington

    - John Roberts

    - WW II

    - November

I was told my case was recommended for approval and affixed with APPROVED stamp.

Then I was told to wait in the lobby. In a about 15-20 minutes, another officer came out and handed me the oath ceremony letter.

I am to appear in Detroit Court on May 15.

I wish good luck to everybody who is still waiting. It`s your turn now :)

I thank the VJ community for its powerful collective knowledge, support and many more things no lawyer can help with.

I will write more when I "turn red" :)

  3. Hi, guys, please correct me if I am wrong. So I am with Detroit FO, I check the processing times, it says July 26 as of Jan 31. Since I am November and very realistic yet hopeful :), there is no need to expect the "interview scheduled" status earlier than April, May, right? Unless I am super lucky and they pick my very case for consideration earlier...

  4. EV11, I am also looking forward to seeing my status changed to "interview scheduled", just like you, I plan to undertake some career steps as soon as I have a naturalization certificate in my hand. Not to be on hold, I decided not to apply for jobs while my status is pending. However, we should not forget that an average process takes 5-6 months, and as "novemberers" we should be patiently waiting till April or May and then start worrying if nothing changes. A couple of people who got their interviews already scheduled are rather an exception, than standard practice. There is nothing wrong to frequently check on the status, I do it too by the way :) This forum and VJ site in general has always been a great support and an information source for me from the beginning, it`s better than any lawyer and is seriously competitive with any professional legal services. I am just posting this in support of all patient November filers, wish us patience and good luck!

  5. Hi everybody,

    Just received RFE:

"Your conditional permanent residence expired on January 29, 2016. Your Form I-751 was filed on November 05, 2015, or 11 months late. Submit a written and signed explanation discussing my failure to file Form I-751 timely along with evidence to support the reasons why this application was filed late."

    So, guys,

My GC expired January 29, 2016

My NOA1 is November 05, 2015 and I got an extension letter.

I filed 90 days before the GC expiration date as stipulated by the Law.

I had biometrics done on December 02, 2015.

What is my fault? Where is my mistake?

Already scheduled an infopass this Thursday.

Cannot afford a lawyer, and why would I have a lawyer?

Called USCIS, they say I have to reply to RFE anyway, I guess just by sending my NOA1 to them? Or how else? Any ideas appreciated.

    Thanks a lot in advance!
