Hi there,
We received our NOA2 at the end of November and it states that it is valid until the end of February. What happens if I cant get my medical done and forms submitted to the London Embassy in time before it expires? Is there anything we can do?
It has been very difficult because since filing for our K1, circumstances have changed and we are now considering going the other way and applying for my Fiance to come to the UK. If that ends up being our decision, We may still want to move back to the US in a couple of years. If that is the case, is there anything we should do about our current K1 case to ensure that we don't harm our chances of re-applying in the future to go there?
Many thanks for your help!

Ben and I filed Feb 4, 2013, we FINALLY received an approval notice for our I-129F on Nov 1, 2013!!
Now, I'm really hoping these next steps will go by a lot quicker. Any advice for what comes next?

Just called the USCIS, they said that our case was transferred to another office but we are still over-do the 5 month time period.
So he took some info and put in a request,I got a reference number and said if I don't hear back in 15 days I should call back.
Fingers still crossed.

Have you familiarised yourself with the requirements to bring your foreign spouse to the UK? Its got a lot tougher since July 2012 with minimum income requirement for previous 6 months before applying and no option for a co-sponsor etc.. Its harder to bring a spouse to the UK then for him to bring you to the US.

We filed our I129F in January and recieved NOA1 on Feb 1st, and have heard not a thing since, do you suggest there has been some mistake or should we just keep waiting? Is anyone else still waiting from Jan/feb filers? We are being processed at CSC.Thanks for all your help and hope the wait is over soon!

Today marked 6 months since our NOA1 and we still havent heard anything. No RFEs or anything. By going through the case numbers on the uscis website, every single I129f case for a long way either side of us got approved at least a month ago, most a lot longer ago. Is there anything we should do? Any other February 1st filers out there in a similar situation??
Cheers!

We filed on February 2nd and are still not approved. Its been over 5 months and on Igors list it looks like they are approving lots of people who filed after us every day! Its been over 5 months, is it worth calling CSC and asking to talk to a tier 2 representative? Any advice or anyone else here file around the same time still not approved?
Thanks so much!

To make it simpler for beginners like me, could you give us a rough template of the sort of thing to write, or how to word a letter to the Ombudsman. I am keen to do whatever I can to help put the pressure on!
I agree, but remember that even if you filed more recently -- even if you haven't even filed YET -- as a concerned citizen you are always able to contact your senator/representative, and more importantly the USCIS Ombudsman. You don't have to mention any casefile number just to let them know that there is a problem and you are concerned and want them to be aware/look into issues involving the service centers.
When I wrote emails and hard copy mail letters last month, not once did I even mention that I had filed a petition at all, much less a case number. I still got responses from the Ombudsman and feel that I was one of a large number of complaints that finally caused them to pay attention. Now that my case is approaching its due date, I might mention the number, but there's no reason I would have to.

no, not for him. his the USC so he could apply.
ONLY the immigrant CANNOT apply. because his/her petitioner might pay for those benefits.
goodluck!!!
It has been the case however that people have been denied because the Petitioner claimed benefits in the US and - though they had a suitable co-sponsor.
Does anybody here know if Medi - Cal is seen as a benefit in this way and could have any adverse effect.
Want to be 100 percent sure before even considering to apply.

Last time I visited my Fiance in the US on VWP I told them straight up that the purpose of my visit was to see my girlfriend. They just said "have a nice time" and stamped me in. Do not worry about a thing. Just be calm, honest and bring anything you can that shows you have ties to your home country. But I can tell you its 99 percent chance they wont ask to see a thing and will let you in no problem. Again, even if they do ask to see more or question you further, as long as you are friendly, positive and co operative, they will let you in fine.
Also dont say anything to suggest you might marry on that trip or stay any longer than your planned visit.
Have a great time in the US!

This is my first post here, so I apologise if I have written this in the wrong section. I'll try not to take up too much of your time (those of you that are reading!)
I'm a British citizen, and in October 2012 I married my U.S. citizen wife in London (she is entitled to live and work here for two years), and we currently both live together in the United Kingdom (London) where I am a university student and she works full-time in the City. At the moment we both want to move to the United States (she misses NYC badly!) but we will be waiting for me to get my degree, which should be at the end of the academic year 2013/14 - so just over a year away.
Can I ask what our next step is? I understand I will need to apply for a green card of some sort but I don't know any specifics. So if anybody knows any deadlines, costs, names of visas, or any general information which we can use I'll greatly appreciate it.
Many thanks for any and all the help we receive!
And you dont have any deadlines to worry about! I envy your situation, not having to wait the many months apart for approval
Good luck on your Journey!!

What's the point in looking at other receipt numbers? Your NOA2 will come when it comes
Why not spare yourself useless frustrations?
I find it kind of fun. This visa has become my main past time! Im sure I will get bored of it soon..
Plus im a recovering control freak! This 'totally out of my hands' business does not sit well..

Forgive me for the newbie question, but how do you look at this on the USCIS website??
Thank you!!
Angela
You cant exaclty look at this on the website. I just typed it up like that for the sake of VJ. What I did was look up the case status of numbers directly before or after my number as they are just assigned sequentially. E.g my receipt number is WACxxxxxxx21, so i looked up WACxxxxxx22, 23, 24 etc. on the USCIS website to see what was happening with cases received at a similar time to mine.
-
Not sure if that info is correct on your analogy of the dates......I also am WAC1390xxxxending in 853, but my noa1 was recieved Oct30 2012. So were about 16 others same time period. I went 120 forward and backward, out of the 16, 3 had been approved in the last 2 days..all our others still have "initial review" dated Oct 30.
Yeah I know I dont think it is right. I just got that idea from another webpage by googling "understanding your USCIS receipt number."
-
Am a dec filer. I had the same scenario too but after 2 days they approved my petition. After seing that on i know it would be soon.
Nothing has changed with our case though, it has said that since the day I got the receipt number at the beginning of Feb. Its everyone else around us that has had the update about alien registration number.

I'm guessing since you got accepted, you should be ok, but it's really hard to tell. I'd recommend possibly calling a tier 2 rep and asking them, but it may be hard to explain that you know this information because you use the online data to snoop in other people's cases
Yes thats just what I was thinking. How do you explain the point that you know your case is saying something different to everybody else in your group when we arent meant to know that. I feel that if I call they will just type in my receipt number and read to me exactly the same as it tells me when I look it up. Does anybody know of a good way to get USCIS to check that your file hasnt been misplaced or put in the wrong box etc or do you have to wait until its months overdue before they will go looking for you..?
-
This isn't true. I filed in October 2012 and my number starts with WAC1390......
Ok, must be something different then, I got my information on that here - http://www.***removed***/immigration/decipher-uscis-case-receipt-number.html

I've got lots of time to keep back tracking... I bet eventually I find that group of yours as you are merely a day before me
I see your Feb 8th. Im actually Feb 1st, as are all those others in my group I showed, but their alien numbers were all then changed on Feb 7th - and mine was not!
I know the Alien Number change dosent mean anything in itself and is just a mistake, but does it mean something if the mistake was applied to all but one case? Could it be that it didnt get seen at a certain stage where it should have been and so didnt trigger the message?
Still perplexed!
-
Maybe the USCIS worker that received your application didn't get the memo that day explaining which response to use. As long as it doesn't say that it was denied, returned for cause, or RFE, you should be good to go. I'll cross my fingers for you!
Thankyou!
-
I went forward a few, but am more curious to find those before me so I can start watching them when the time gets closer. If I start seeing after me get approved, that just won't do me any good in my own mental health
I've got lots of time to keep back tracking... I bet eventually I find that group of yours as you are merely a day before me
I know! thats why Im a little surprised and annoyed to see someone behind me (WACxxxxxxx25) has already been approved! Are they really approving Feb '13 Filers already??
Also, the first numbers after the letters "WAC" is the year received (so we are 13) and the next number is what business day that fiscal year it was recieved so on mine its 90 (Feb 1st NOA1) and yours will probably be 91 (if your Feb 2nd and as long as the next day wasnt a weekend) so If you want to get to a different day you just have to change the 3rd and 4th number after WAC.
Cheers.

I tried doing this with my case numbers, and went back 60+ case numbers and not a single one of them was an I-129F petition.
Forgive me if this is a very silly question, but have you tried going forward? It may be that you are the first/last in the group.
-
don't worry about those other receipt number, those applicant might be applying for different forms. means different forms different processing time.
No they were all I129Fs, I just didnt cut and paste the whole sentances for those into my post, the full sentance for all 19 of them said exactly - "On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)."
On ours it said exactly - "The I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office."
I just dont understand why there would be one different, and am hoping its not because ours got missed or slipped through the crack somewhere. It has said that same thing since the day we got the receipt number.
-
So I know its early days but for fun I thought I would look at the other I129Fs in my group by checking the receipt numbers around me on the USCIs website (a trick i learned on here) and it seems like my case is different to every single other I129F received that day at CSC.
Basically my group looks like this -
WACXXXXXXXX14 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX15 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX16 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX17 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX18 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX19 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX20 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX21 (OUR CASE) - The I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office.
WACXXXXXXXX22 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX23 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX24 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX25 - On April 22, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION
WACXXXXXXXX26 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX27 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX28 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX29 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX30 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX31 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX32 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX33 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
WACXXXXXXXX34 - On February 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed ...
Why has 19 out of 20 cases had their Alien registration numbers changed and ours has not? What does it mean by "was transferred and is being processed at a USCIS office" ?
If anyone can help answer this it would be much appreciated, Im starting to worry and feel rather left out!!
Sarah and Ben.
P.S Cant believe the case 4 places behind us has already been approved! - i.e Feb 1 2013 NOA1, April 22 2013 NOA2!! (expedite?)
NOA2 expiration date..

Thanks so much for this! How long can we extend it for in London before we would have to re-start from the beginning?
