What are everyone's plans for health insurance when they move to the states.
It can be really expensive if not included with your employment and most insurance companies won't touch you for the first 6 months.
I had thought about taking out a long trip travel insurance but guess that with no returned planned that might be invalid.
Interested to know what everyone else it doing.

Finally got through to them.
My Interview has been scheduled and the letter was sent yesterday.
Unfortunately it's not until the 23rd septemer.
That ages away!
Atleast i have a date now
-
No Jealous at all
Ok maybe a little
-
Thanks Guys
I didn't know that i could call the DOS.
Unfortunately they are closed at the moment but i will give them a call later
-
It's standard wording. It says that all the way from when they send Packet 3 through to the Interview. It's really disappointing.
You can call the Department of State line to find out if you've had an interview date allocated.
Is that the 09042450100 number?
-
Just looking at my CEAC status (i do this several times a day hoping the date will change) and for a change actually read what it says underneath.
"Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3731.html"
IS this just the standard wording or does it change depending on the status?
Does this mean that everything is ready and I'm just waiting for them to schedule the date?
I've called the extortion line a few time in the last couple of weeks and always get the same "6 weeks to process and 3 weeks before you here". Tried to call again today but they are too busy.
Is there anyway other way to find out if an appointment has been scheduled?
This whole process is making me nervous and I'm getting really impatient.

Luckily my current passport covered all the back and forth long distance relationship travel but had to think carefully about the stuff before that.
i only got to 21 visits
-
I guess it will happen when it happens but at least I know nothing should be stuffed up because of our time away.
Thanks
Laura
The waiting is horrible.

Just as a reference
My visa and DS230/2001 were received at the embassy on the 1st July and i haven't had a date for my interview yet.
Lost at sea. How long before your medical did you send in your DS2001
-
I'm sure everything is fine but the longer it takes the more nervous i get.
Its my fault for taking so long submitting the forms.
Starting to worry that i've missed something but the extorition line has no information.
everytime they ask if i've submitted a DS2001 which i'm pretty sure i have. Just worrying that they are wait for that and i'm waiting for them. Unfrotuantely they won't look into any further until past the 6 weeks
-
Not at all.
Wife is on half day today so if theres not letter waiting i'll give them a call this afternoon
No letter so called the extorition line.
Case was updated on Friday but no details as to what was done.
Interview date hasn't been set yet.
same old line.
normally takes 6 weeks
they will contact me 3 week after its been set so i will probably get told the date towards the end of August.
-
It's up to you - how patient are you feeling this week?
Not at all.
Wife is on half day today so if theres not letter waiting i'll give them a call this afternoon
-
Hopefully good news
The last updated date on my CEAC status has changed to the 12th July.
Fingers crossed this means my interview date has been set.
Now do i wait for a letter or call up and see if they can tell me anything
-
The touch date on our ceac is July 1st which is when they received my medical and a couple of days after they recieved they DS230.
It's only a week ago so i'd imaging it will take a couple of weeks to process. Just being impatient.
I said that we were hoping to travel in early November so I'm sure they're not rushing things,
We've had to book our cruise as the cabins we wanted were starting to sell out.
I'm sure it will all be fine, but as the cut off date for cancelling is August 3rd i was hoping to at least get the interview date by then.
-
Quick update
Just had reason to call the extortion line and thought i would ask about the arriving via cruise ship question.
The gentleman on the phone said that as long as you are arriving with a registered carrier you can arrive at any border control.
most airlines and cruises lines are absolutely fine.
Arriving in your own boat may be more of an issue
-
Just called the extortion line.
They have my ds230 etc and my medical but said it takes about 6 weeks to process the paper work so i won't get my interview date until then.
Either they are singing to the hymn sheet or you've been very lucky
-
They sent my interview letter the day they got the medical results (they had the forms a few days before).
I'd call them (you can call DoS or the embassy extortion line) if you're really impatient and see if they know the scheduled date. Else, my letter took 3 days to show up.
The CEAC status will continue to say READY from now until your interview, so it won't update and say anything useful from now if you think they've had all your forms and medical logged.
I think the big difference is you sent in your Ds230 well before your medical.
I think mine would have both been received on the same day.
If i haven't heard anything by Monday i may call the extortion line.
-
My CEAC status is currently ready and the last update date was the 1st.
I'm guessing this is when they received my medical and/or my DS230 part 1.
So impatiently waiting for the to update again and set my interview date.
Then i'll be booking another crazy expensive trip to the big smoke
-
+1. It's like, good for visa science.
Not really an accurate test as you were much better at sending in forms than i was.
Although it will give a good idea as to how long processing a DS230 takes.
-
I may have just shot myself in the foot then.
I put that we are hoping to move on the 2nd November although we are holding off booking tillthe visa is confirmed.
Hopefully that doesnt delay things too much
-
Thanks
I put it in the post tray at work and had a bit of a panic.

Just about to post of my off my DS-2001 and DS-230 but it seems like theres not enough stuff
All i'm sending is a cover letter saying i've had my medical and when i want to travel, the completed DS-2001 and the completed DS-230
What i've read indicates that thats it and all supporting docs go with me to the interview.
Really surpirsed i don;t have to send i-864 for anything like that
Why do these forms make me panic so much
Approved in London today!!!!
