  1. hi i would like to know if i can get an engineer job even im a graduate here in philippines! im a graduate of electrical engineering but my experience is quality engineer in a manufacturing field? is there any specific requirement that i need to apply for to get an engineer job! or NO. right now im in k1 visa!

    (0) Get your work-permit.

    (1) Yes, you can but you need into each company - does it require ABET - an accreditation required for some companies

    (2) Many companies only hire people who have green-card, some only hires people who have US citizenship.

For sure, you must try harder than others because you do not graduate from US.

I am an engineer myself, an immigrant, however, I graduated from US, got my master from US, and PE from US so the process was much easier.

  2. Thank you for posting this. We're actually moving also the Atlanta area and looking for jobs in Accounting. Good luck Lirpa!

I suggest you try to look in you taking CPA - Certified Public Accountant. Otherwise, you will have to compete with many Americans. I do not know how hard it is in other areas but in my area, even my friends who has dual degrees in MBA in account and engineer is hard to find a decent job in accountant without an CPA. Good thing is that he is working an an engineer, he just hates to be an engineer for some reason.

  3. ok. I wanted the info to apply for a job.

    (1) you need to read the job description to see what requirement they have

    - Legal Status:Green Card or US Citizen

    - Education:What degree

    +Accredited University?

    +Accredited Program ?

    - Experience

    (2) Apply

When I interview engineers who have been passed HR pre-screen, I do not care about their education. In fact, I have not asked them anything regarding their educations. I just focus on their experiences/skill sets and how they answer my question, their attitude to determine whether they can be a part of my team and under my management.

I, myself, understand well about the difficulty like language barrier (I have Master/PE but to be honest, my English is not very good) and method of educations in different regions.

  4. hi.. I know this post was been over a year..

  5. Hi

I was married once. our marriage did not work out. so we started to living separate. while we are living separate My ex wife started to see some one and I found my soul mate as well. We filled for divorce and it is back logged for 2 years. After 2 and 1/2 years later our marriage ended. We want to get married to our new partner.

The person I meet she does not live in USA. I meet her 2 years ago and we decided to get married recently. so I would like to bring her here(USA) through Fiancée Visa (K1). Now my question is, should I mentioned that I know my fiancé for last 2 years. would that be a question why I meet someone while my divorce case was on? can I show all the proof that I meet her 2 years ago and we are still in close relationship and we intend to marry each other.

I am preparing my paper works for K1 visa. I am concern about the question 34.a (how I meet my Fiancée). should I mentioned that I know her for 2 years? I went to visit her 4 times within 2 years.

    Any suggestion ?

In order to fill out K-1,

    (1) You have had to know her for at least 2 years

    (2) You have met her in person within 2 years

So, yes, you have to mentioned you've known her for 2 years.

The conditions of getting a case approved by USCIS are quite simple, however, Visa Consulate office will look very close into the details about your divorce and the timeline your divorce and your new love.

"can I show all the proof that I meet her 2 years ago and we are still in close relationship and we intend to marry each other."

Yes, and this is the purpose of the interview, to show that you two have entered into a relationship in good-faith. Otherwise, what proofs can you show your relationship is legitimate?

  6. ok. Thanks for the info guys. my degree is Bachelor of Arts in Management. it was 3 year course in one of the university in my country.

Let some qualified organization to evaluate for your degree. Especially if you want to continue your education.

However. for job application, you can apply online. My company accepts engineering positions with just high school degree but requires a lot of technical experiences. Some companies will demand some specially requirements (For example ABET accredited universities, or AACSB universities).

  7. 1. If you mean the paperwork from I-129F package, then no, you do not need to but you can. The Consulate Office will have all of these paperwork in their files (and they will use the partial information from these paperwork to conduct their interview with your fiancee)

    2. For Visa interview, then you need to send her a signed Affidavit of Support (I-134) with required proofs (Tax Transcript and 2-3 recent pay stubs will be fine but double check - some offices are more open, some are more strict)

    3. You may also want to send the letter of intend, signed with the current date.

  8. You don't need to translate the Police Record #2 to English. In fact, you don't need to translate any documents as long as they are in Vietnamese or English, including copy of your chat log, phone log, emails, or what have you.

Also, the Police Record #2 doesn't have to be notarized. The place where it is issued will stamp it (with the Red stamp) and that's all you need. But you may need to give them some coffee money to speed up the process. My then-fiancee gave them 500,000 VND and she had it in 4 days.

Ask me how I know. LOL

    You are right.

Yes, chat logs, email, and relationship evidences do not need to be translated.

  9. Does this all mean that I need to stay in NZ until my spouse visa has been approved?

Sorry - this process is truly confusing the bejeezes outta me!

    Thanks!

Apply for K-1 and apply for Visitor Visa - they are 2 different type of Visas. However, some C.Offices may deny Visitor Visa when there is another type of Visa in process (high fraud countries).

  10. In Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) - There is a government document called "Bản Lý Lịch Tư Pháp Số 2" - Original Justice Record Check #2 to show the historical information of the beneficiary. This is one of the documents that is required to be translated to English and provided to Consulate officer at the interview. In order to get this paperwork Original Justice Record Check #2 notarized, the beneficiary must bring ID card (Chứng Minh Nhân Dân), Household Registration Book (Hộ Khẩu) to the Justice Office where beneficiary lives. It will take 3-4 weeks and probably some coffee money to get it done.

For the petitioner, G-325A is good.

  11. Hello. I already sent my I-129F package to Immigration yesterday. I want some more information about the affidavit of support. When should I prepare this document? Should I start doing it right away or should I wait to hear back from USCIS? I have seen different answers saying that the affidavit of support is done after the adjustment of status, and others have said that I should send this to my fiance for his visa interview. Will the USCIS let me know when to send it?

I also want to know, which form is it? There are two types of affidavit of support forms, the I-134 and the I-864. Which one do I have to fill out, or is it both? (one for the visa and one for the adjustment of status?) I am also going to have a co-sponsor, because of my income. Do I have to fill out a form as well, or is it only the person who is going to be my co-sponsor?

You can start it once the case gets approved - very simple paperwork.

    (1) Form (Very basic information) - time to complete 10-20mins

    (2) Go to IRS website register for an account and to be safe download 3 latest transcripts (should be 2013, 2012, 2011 for this year). Most offices only request the most current one, while some offices may request 3 years

    (3) Get your most recently pay-stubs

This is to capture the changes that have not been reported and as a proofs: you are still working.

That is very pretty much if your income meets requirement.

If your income does not meet the requirement, then you must look into other things

    - What kind of assets and investments you have - the proofs

    - Do you own the house, how much your mortgage(s) remains. (The house may be worth $100k based on market fair value or appraisal value) but you've paid like $10k in principal. Then they only consider $10k (or least) is the actually $$$$

    - Do you have saving, how much, proofs

If you have co-sponsor(s), then the paperwork/proofs are the same as yours. However, please note some offices will not allow co-sponsor(s) for K-1.

  12. Thank you for the quick response.

However, my wife does not have a good computer/electronic stuff knowledge I've always help and guide through those things from the beginning of our relationship actually that is how we became close :) she is the one with people skills... our difference in education background was not too much , right?

In our country (Vietnam), it is not an issue. I have a master in engineering, already in management position while my fiancee just has her 2 year college degree in totally different field and she never has a stable job but the process has been very smooth.

  13. My fiancé has a daughter that will be coming with her. We have filed the ds 160 and scheduled the interview but realized today that we put the wrong birthdate for her daughter. Is there anything that can be done. Please help!!

    I found this

"Don't panic. Although it's true that the State Department has not provided a way to go back into an already-completed DS-160, alternatives do exist. (You are not the first person to have faced a similar problem!) You have two options, as follows:

    1. Check how many days have gone by since you submitted the original application. If it is less than 30 days, go back to the "Apply for a Nonimmigrant Visa" page of the State Department website. Click the tab for “Retrieve an Application.” You will be asked to enter your application ID number. Next, the system will ask whether you want to go to the confirmation page or create a new application. Select create a new application, and your whole application will appear, except the part about your travel plans to the United States. At that point, you can edit and update the information and submit it once again. You will be given a new confirmation and bar code.
    2. The second option depends on your having saved onto your computer the data file, called a ".DAT file," from your original application. If you did, you can draw on the information you submitted by again going to the "Apply for a Nonimmigrant Visa" page of the State Department website. This time, click the "Upload an Application" tab. You will be given instructions for accessing your saved file. There is no time limit on this method. After making your changes, save and submit the new application. You will be given a new confirmation and bar code.

The next issue you will need to deal with is whether you used the first DS-160 submission to book your visa appointment or pay the MRV fee. If so, you will need to bring to your interview BOTH the confirmation pages from the new and the original Form DS-160, showing the two separate barcodes."

  14. Hello! i tried searching for this in the forums but i've had no luck.

I was discharged from the service in June of this year. I am now employed at Target as a warehouse worker; however, it is a seasonal position and i will be laid off in December. My question is, Do i need a co-sponsor?

I spoke to an immigration consultant , he said that i do not, because i was in the military , and that being a seasonal worker does not matter, all i have to do is show my pay stubs and my tax returns

any feedback is welcome! Thank you

What is the total income you reported - what does your tax transcript show as your total gross income?

Do you need to support for anyone else in the US?

    Do you have other assets/investments?

Do you have any saving amount?

  15. ok but what should i do?

i will be very sad if they refuse me the visa i just wanna cry at that time

Does he have assets or investments?

    Does he have saving?

Can anyone fill-out another support file? Some people say CO might not allow joint financial support but try his best.

And ask the employer to write an letter of predict future income (but this might not help)

To be honest, I understand the love but we do need to prepare mentally, physically, and financially once decide to live together.

  16. For normal cases, lawyer can help but think about some facts:

    1. They can help you file 6 pages on the Form I-129F and attached some explanation(s) but they still need the information from you. And to be honest, 6 pages with very simple information/"skippable" information

    2. They can help you to organize your evidences but you can do it yourself by do some internet research and use common sense.

    3. The hardest part is the interview itself, no one can help but to prepare.

    4. Spending too much time for going to their office/waiting for response/and phone calls while you should spend these time to prepare for your fiancee.
