  1. Brought her spices, vinegars, and oils over last weekend when we moved her (peace bridge) - not sure if its allowed but we did. Packed it all up nice and in a uhaul. She went across first in my car, told the officer she had immigrated the week before and was moving her goods and that her husband was in the uhaul behind her. she was sent through no issues - guys asked me if I was a US citizen, and if I had my wifes belongings in the uhaul - I said yes and offered the key to unlock the back and "manifest list" if he wanted - he said nope...just wanna scan the uhaul plates. he did so then told me to have a great day. :) YMMV

  2. We didn't need it but I brought copies of EVERY single document, receipt, and paperwork we ever sent to both the USCIS & NVC - just in case. Better to be overprepared and sail through smooth. good luck to all

  3. Does anyone here know the protocols for NEXUS after the person has immigrated (POE)? How quickly do they need to update their info, can you still use NEXUS in conjunction with a greencard or does that eliminate the ability to use the NEXUS lanes?

    Thanks

  4. After over a year of anxious days, bureaucratic runaround, countless forms, fees and lengthy phone calls we finally have an interview date in Montreal for October 8th. It seems like this long journey is almost complete. Thank you to all of the outstanding Visa journey folks who have helped us through this process all the way!

She is visiting me now so we will celebrate tonight with a bottle of champagne we have been saving for this day.

    :):):)

  5. One year and one day from our USCIS receipt date we finally got a Case Complete Email. It took rounds of calls with agents going over checklists that were issued in error, and finally the intervention of a very kind supervisor (Betsy), who we are sure pushed things through for review. As we already knew the civil docs were all there (review confirmed that), and the DS-260 was completed (in May) despite the checklists to the contrary. The only advice I have for others is that if you are SURE all of your forms and docs are in order and complete, and you are receiving checklists saying they aren't, call and politely press the operator to connect you with a supervisor. It seems it was the only way we were able to get results...the operators just kept telling us to wait longer.

Now we are hoping for an interview to be set in the coming round (early sept for Oct Montreal interviews I believe).

    Fingers crossed...

  6. Not really in a position to give you advice, but I had a similar experience - Current year problem on my i864 (damn unclear gross income vs adjusted gross income stuff). My fault. Once I understood what they wanted, it meant my answer for the projected year was also wrong. So I changed both figures on the I-864 (the one they asked for and the one they did not), and attached a cover letter explaining both of the changes and logic clearly. Our process is not completed yet but the revised I864 issue has been corrected and is now complete in their process - they will not inform you, I had to call and see if it was still in checklist or accepted and complete which it is. Good luck - hope sharing this helps some.

  7. So we have been getting jerked around a bit by the NVC. We have received several checklists (latest on 8/7) all referencing that we need to complete the online DS-260. Thing is we completed the online DS-260 in May and have a confirmation number for it. When we speak to the call center folks, they state that they see the online form has been completed but they are confused as to why no one has reviewed it. Making matters worse they have made references to missing documents (marriage and divorce certs), which were in the civil docs packet I sent (100% sure as I made copies of all sent docs and went over the packet with a checklist)....then after they look at the notes, they see other notes that say the certs have been received. Then they seem confused and ask me if I know what is going on! I told one lady that I have never received a checklist for missing documents - she told me they would not tell you you are missing documents, just that there was a problem...I asked her if NVC does not tell me what is missing and the call center people do not know what is going on, how am I to remediate the problems (if they exist at all)...she told me I had a good point. Not helpful. A week ago the call center person ordered a "Supervisor Review" which after a call today has not happened yet. I am really losing what is left of my faith in my government here...anyone else have these types of issues occur?

  8. OK...reached through the phone (maybe 20 dials lol) and good news is they actually have our case...said still a few weeks from assigning a case number and sending us info but hey...at least our stuff is not lost...right?

  9. Ok - so its been over a month since NOA2 and no word from NVC. I call all the time (busy busy busy) and I emailed 1+weeks zero reply)...just want a little help here

I have pre prepared my G325

She has done the same with each form as well as obtained a police certificate

Is there additional preparation we should or can be doing to eliminate delays going forward?

Ant advice is greatly appreciated (I have read up and down all of the guides/shortcuts/etc)

    Thanks
