  1. Hello everyone

Long story short, my wife filed a petition back in May 2019 for her mother. We received an RFE, sent the requested documents and in August 2020 received a denial letter. After reading the denial letter, there was a misunderstanding on my part regarding the evidence they wanted on the original RFE, so we filed an appeal in September 2020 and included the correct documents that were requested by USCIS. Got a letter dated September 2nd, 2021 saying the case was approved and was being forwarded onto the NVC for further processing. I just checked the mail today and got another letter dated September 7th, 2021 saying that the case has been reopened due to an appeal that was filed on the case. The letter doesn't have any more details and I am very confused at this point as to what is going on. Has anyone else ever run into this? Appreciate the help!

  2. Hello Everyone

My wife in the process of filling out the i-130 form to petition for her mom. On the form, there is a section where you have to list all the children of the beneficiary. My wife is the petitioner, so does she need to be listed in that section or no? I was thinking since she is the petitioner I don't have to, but just want to make sure.

    I appreciate the help. Thanks!

I do not understand why they did not stamp your passport. the GC of my husband expired 12/2016 and the letter of extension 09/2017. We went to get the stamo the in July and it is valid for a year until July 2018. We asked the officer because why not until December as the GC and we explained us that the GC was already expired at two conditional years and the valid  date is the one that appears in the extension letter. I have a friend that went to stamp his passport 5 months before with the flight tickets because he  also has to travel for a long time and they stamped it, maybe it will help you

I explained my wife's travel situation to the officer. I told him she would be traveling in November and not coming back until February 2018, but he said that the card was still valid for 2 months technically and it was too soon to get the stamp. I plan on going back in mid November right before my wife's trip to get the stamp. By then the extension will have less than 30 days on it.

  4. Hey everyone

So I went today to get the stamp for my wife. I didn’t realize the one year extension is from the expiration date on the green card. I thought it was from the date on the letter which was September 16th.  So the officer didn’t give us the stamp since technically my wife’s green card is still valid until December 11th. He told me to come back when its closer to expiration and if the new green card hasn’t arrived by then. My question is how close to expiration do you have to be to get the stamp? My wife is planning to travel in mid November which her green card with letter would still be valid but she is coming back in February and at that point the green card & extension letter would not be valid.

    Thanks for the help

  5. This is from the CNN article I read

"The new order additionally provides consular officers with discretion to waive the new restrictions on a "case-by-case basis" if a foreign national demonstrates that denying entry into the US would cause "undue hardship" and he or she does not pose a threat to national security."

  6. Hi Everyone

Does anyone have experience with the US preclearance in Abu Dhabi or US preclearance in general. My aunt is traveling to the US on an immigrant visa on etihad airways and she is going from islamabad pakistan ---->abu dhabi -----> chicago ----> ohio. The last part from chicago to ohio is on american airlines. Will she need to pick up her bags in chicago? I was told a flight that goes through US preclearance is treated as a domestic flight upon arrival in the US but im not sure about the luggage. I've never gone through preclearance myself and the few times Ive come back from overseas going through chicago I had to pick up my bags there even though they were tagged to my final destination and then I had to drop them off again after I got out of immigration and customs. Your help is appreciated.

  7. Ok so here is my situation

I sent my checklist for original birth certificate and marriage certificate. It was scanned in on May 13th. I called last thrusday and was told my case was complete. Today I get a letter saying the case is complete and an interview is scheduled for July 3rd, but the letter states to bring the original marriage certificate and birth certificate to the interview. So I call the NVC to tell them I sent these documents already as part of the checklist. The lady tells me that if the checklist isnt reviewed by the time they send the case to the embassy, the documents will be sent back to me. I dont understand. Why would they give me a case complete and schedule the interview if they havent reviewed the checklist  ?

  8. Hey everyone great news

My wife's interview is scheduled for July 3rd in Islamabad. The issue is that the interview letter says that she needs to bring her original birth certificate and our original marriage certificate. The thing is is that I already sent this to NVC as part of my checklist that they scanned on May 13th

    Any ideas?

You got a checklist for birth/marriage certificate originals, responded to the checklist, and then got a case complete telling you to bring the originals to the interview?

Correct. I sent the checklist for birth, marriage certificates original. Scanned by NVC on May 13th. Today I got my interview letter and it states to bring the originals to the interview

I'll call them after I get out of work and get some clarification. They have the originals.

  9. OMG CALL!!! You should have good news :-D

Yup I called. After being on hold for a little over an hour I got a hold of someone and they told me my case was complete. My checklist was scanned in on May 13th. I appreciate everyones help throughout this process so far. It's been a long process, started it last April. Also, congrats to all the others who have received case completes recently.

  10. Interesting he, in English I've only given names and DOBs. I guess it depends on the agent :P

I haven't talked to many though, I've only called 4 times in English and twice in Spanish

It might be that you already got a Case Complete!!! Call!! :D

When did NVC scan your last package?

May 13th they scanned my checklist for civil documents. I will call to see to see if I actually got a case complete
