  1. So I called, and the lady didn't seem to know what I was calling for (??) .... she told me my status was in card production meaning it was being made. I said I knew that, I got that notification 5 days ago, and today I got that it was in the mail but without a tracking number, so she tells me it's ready to be mailed but not mailed?

I guess I'll just wait and see... It just sucks - what if it gets lost in the mail and I'm just sitting here for 30 days waiting for it?!

Has anyone received two mail notification? (like a second one with a tracking number)

I had a similar situation, my status said mailed but I didn't get a tracking number for another couple days because it was just sitting in their mail room. You only get the tracking number when USPS have picked it up from USCIS.

  2. How long does it take from Card Production to Mailing the EAD card out. My EAD was accepted on 23rd April and still nothing...How long is the average??

From what I've seen, it's about 3-4 BUSINESS days between card production & card mailed.

Just back from interview greencard today ,everything smooth take 20 minutes for interview and been approved. she says will be on mail 4 weeks.

I m prepare a lot of document .. all is she asking only document that we join together... we already summited before and she asked again.

lucky I did prepare everything the same stuff.. so she want it all. also my EAD been change status to card production , My AP case change to post decision activity mean approved.

but seem for me I will get greencard before EAD and AP on mail soon.

    Good luck everyone

    Congratulations!

  3. If you look at the current statistics on the site, it takes an average of about 66 days from the time they receive your package or 38 days after your biometrics for the AP and EAD to be processed so that should put you somewhere over the next 10 days (Feb 23 + 66 days is Apr 29 or Apr 1 + 38 days is May 8).

I'm about the same timeframe (Feb 21 + 66 days is Apr 27 or my biometrics Mar 20 + 38 days is also Apr 27). I'm hoping to receive news on mine sometime next week.

Wouldn't panic too much if those numbers go over though.. my EAD/AP didn't process until 46/47 days after my biometrics.

Yep that's so true, I have sometime now before I have to do the ROC. Next thing to do is sort out my license ☺

Good luck! Getting a licence sorted out is one of the things I'm looking forward to getting once this AOS is out of the way :)

  4. I received a text & email today at 10:46am from the USCIS letting me know that my Green Card has been mailed out to me :dancing: now I just need the tracking number :)

    How exciting! Congratulations again!

Oh, and I forgot to ask. I know that while you're still using your EAD, your social security card would say, "Valid for work only with DHS authorization." When you get your green card though, will they assign you a new number? Or just a new card without the notation? -_-

Once you have a SSN , it's yours for life. You will just apply for a new card without the notation! :)

  5. Hey y'all.

Just thought I would post a little EAD related snippet that I received from my USCIS field office yesterday (I had a chatty immigration officer ;).

I made an infopass appointment for yesterday morning in Tucson because I received an email from USCIS updating me on my pending EAD application, which has been sitting in Initial review since Feb. 6. The email basically said that my background check was not yet complete and if I don't hear anything in the next 6 months to call in and get an update. This made me LOL initially as I have my AOS interview next week - but then I kinda panicked because if the background hasn't been done will they put me in admin. processing after my interview pending the results??

(side note: I received my AP docs already - separate from the EAD obviously).

Anyway, when I spoke with the officer yesterday she said there is a growing trend among AOS applications that if the applicant is selected for an interview (as opposed to getting waived), they are getting their PR before they receive their work permits. This is because they have gotten more efficient at processing the I-485s and that the EAD background checks are getting held up at the FBI for whatever internal reason that has nothing to do with the applicant. Further, the background checks that they do for the work authorization have ZERO to do with your AOS app. ZERO :wow: . She shared with me that in a nutshell, even though you file all your applications concurrently, they are uncoupled from each other when they are received and treated independently - It just so happens that my AOS app is proceeding along faster than my EAD. She told me not to read anything into this, it's just administrative circumstance.

So, don't panic if your EAD hasn't moved but your AOS has. If you have a job offer pending or you can prove that not having the EAD is causing you significant financial hardship you can make an infopass appointment, plead your case and beg for them to grant you interim EAD but if you have a scheduled AOS interview you may as well wait it out for just a little longer.

Hope this gives those waiting on EAD some comfort.

On an unrelated but kinda neat side note: I filed my K-1 petition on April 30th of 2013 and my AOS interview is on April 30th of this year :P

    Ambz

Great info, thanks! And congrats! That's fast, lucky! It took me a year from applying for I-129F just to get visa in hand! Still, I'm super happy to have an AOS interview 3 months from applying - silver lining in every cloud :)

  6. So after 80 days I have finally moved on to the "Testing and Interview" stage. Is it possible for me to get the interview before May 27? That's my first day at my new job in another state and it would not be good to ask a day off from work soon after I start...

Interview date is usually given 4+ weeks from notice of the date. I think you'd be very lucky to get yours before May 27! Fingers crossed I'm wrong & your field office works fast tho!

  7. So happy! My EAD just changed to "Card Production" :)

My AOS however has been in "RFE Response Review" since March 31. I'm wondering if it's normal to get the EAD before the AOS changes to "Testing and Interview"? I see a lot of other people in here who've also filed from Boston with interview dates.

    Good luck to everyone!

Very normal, the EAD/AP are designed to enable you to travel and work while an AOS is processing, in limbo, in RFE review, etc. And, congrats!

  8. Good luck!! At this point I'm assuming you probably don't care much to travel between now and then :) I'm a week after you and I can't wait. I'm literally counting down the days. My interview documents are all well organized in an accordion folder with my copies in a binder and photo album with a post-it on it that says May 20th. HAHA. Let me know hwo your interview goes when the day comes.

Sounds like you're very prepared and organised! I am much the same way! I do have travel plans for July but since my AOS interview is in May, I should be good :) I'll be sure to let you know how it went for me! Fingers crossed on a smooth, pleasant interview for the both of us!

  9. Thanks everyone, we arrived outside the Mt Laurel NJ USCIS Office at 1:30pm & sat there for a little bit, then we made our way into the building at about 1:50pm our appointment was at 2:15pm. we sat down near the door & just gone 2pm the IO called out our name, then showed us to his office, then swore us in asked for our ID & if we had the 2013 tax return which we didn't have as we hadn't filed yet. He then asked for other paperwork, which we handed him. He was going to make copies, but I beat him to the punch and handed him the copies I had already made. He was very nicer and we had a nice chat about the army life as I was in the service and my wife was an army brat. And before we knew it he was ordering the card and telling us how to remove conditions in 2 yrs. We were back in the car by 2:30pm and would have left, but my wife left her car keys in the office so she had to go back and get them. All in all a quick and pleasant experience.

We still can't believe its done. We received an email at 2:45pm saying that the card is in production. :dancing::thumbs:

Congrats! Sounds like an awesome breezy interview! I hope ours goes the same way! Maybe I'll see you around the forums again when it comes time to apply for ROC! Enjoy your new freedom!

  10. (Day 77) did my interview this morning at 8:30!

We had an IO and the IO's supervisor. The IO seemed to be nervous at times as her hands was shaking as she turned the papers.

My wife and I was called in and the IO had us swear to tell the truth, then she asked me to leave the room and that she would call me back in a couple of minutes after she talked to my wife. My wife said she asked her simple questions such as: how did we meet? Who was at the wedding? Along with other questions about our ongoing relationship. Before I was called back into the room they had reviewed all the supporting documents the we had brought with us such as: bank statements, rental agreement, life insurance etc. (NB: none of these documents was submitted with my original application).

When they were finish she called me in and she ask me to state my name, asked me who was at the wedding, when did we started dating, who propose to who, what date with I propose, when did I arrive in the United States, who was I visiting, has my wife and I ever take any vacation together, to which I said no but we hope to take one in December. I was working without papers so she asked what type of work I was doing, how long have I been working there and what documents I gave to my employers for me to get that job. After all those questions she moved on to the yes or no questions that are on the I485. When she was done asking those questions she looked over to her supervisor and asked if she wanted to asked any questions and she nodded no.

All this time the interview was being recorded with the camera looking right at us.

She looked at some of our pictures and then asked if we had any questions, we answered no.

She said she will have to review all our supporting documents and that we would hear from them within 2 weeks.

After we leave the room our attorney said everything was on point and that all our answers match. At 1:30pm when I checked my status online it says CARD PRODUCTION. checked it again at 7 and it says DECISION: A letter was sent and this person is registered as a permanent resident. My wife's I-130 is now approved and a letter was also mailed out today.

A year ago I didn't even thought I would get married but I kept praying and believing and the Lord did hear my prayers. In less than a year my life has change and I owe all to god!

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!! BEST WISHES!!!!

Strange, it sounds like you had a mini stokes interview and I thought they only occured rarely when the IO was suspicious or not 100%. Maybe I am wrong? I didn't know it was normal process to be seperated for the interview? In any case, it ended well for you so congratulations!! Hope your green card arrives safely soon!
