I wish this was true for California, but they will only issue you a licence for a period while you are here legally. Once you apply for the AOS the DMV has no idea of whether you'll be approved or denied and when the USCIS will decide. Since there is no date they can get you the licence for, they just don't I wonder how they go around this issue in Colorado, though. How long is the licence valid for then?

Valid foreign and out of state driver's licenses are already valid in California, given that the person is visiting. An "international driver's license" has no effect in California. But once you become a resident of California, you need to get a California driver's license in 10 days.

Teya got a reaction from Mariana2012 in So how long is reasonable for getting a job in the US
Well, I'm not in the States yet, but know a few people who have been having problems because they were applying for the positions that were way below them. So take that into consideration too. Do not apply for jobs that you are overqualified for even if you are an immigrant or if you are lucky enough to land an interview for a position like that givevthem a reason why and reassurance that you're not going to leave in a month. Of course this applies if you have experience in that field and are applying for a lower position. However if it's a new field for you, then the story is different.
    Good luck!

Teya got a reaction from Sweet dream in Why CSC doesnt keep doing Dec with august to nov?
    Hi,
I'm a February filler myself so technically taking those 5 months into consideration you should wait till the beginning of July hopefully not longer that's what I'm hoping for myself July 25th. However, you should prepare yourself for at least 6-7 months so that you would be happy if it comes after 5 months rather than being disappointed. I know it's hard, especially seeing CSC processing over 20 petitions a day but that is what I keep telling myself!
Hopefully it will be a fast process for you!
