yes...USCIS does a background check on both of you, but it sounds like his conviction will not be something that raises a red flag. I think they are more concerned about drug crimes and domestic violence type of crimes. He is already a US citizen...so you are going to be the one who gets put under the microscope.

Hola, mira yo viví 3 años en Argentina y son aburridoras las vueltas para poder conseguirlo, aun no lo tengo en mis manos pero ya empeze la vuelta, me toco ir a la embajada de Argentina en Bogotá, pero creo que para cada pais es diferente.

Asi que si no tienes nacionalidad Venezolana y no piensas ir a Caracas proximamente te toca como ya intentaste por esa pagina, yo intente y no me funciona cuando hago click en "certificaciones para trámites internacionales" entonces creo que te toca llamar a la embajada y averiguar que puedes hacer, mucha suerte!

We had no way of putting it into the application because he was never charged with any of those crimes they listed in the options of the i29f, so how can I make sure the embassy knows? I mean, like you said they do background checks so when the embassy gets all our papers and stuff they should know, right? I am planning on being honest about it when they ask, I am just not sure of what to say that will make it clear I am aware of it and we just want to move on and start a life together.

Not my fiancé, he had no knowledge of any crimes, just refused to testify. His particular case has nothing to do with terrorism and was never charged with anything like that. Don't think there's more to talk about.

Just gotta wait and see what happens.

Also, a girl I know of also has a US fiance who spent time in prison, actually around 9 years for arson and they already got their NOA2, we'll see how the interview goes!

Here's more info on what it was: He was indicted by a federal grand jury in 09, they were investigating animal rights activities, he refused to testify and was charged with contepmt of court, spent 4 months in jail and then released. He pled guilty to criminal contempt of court in 2010. It's not a felony nor misdemeanor. Then he was sentenced to 10 months in prison, but they counted the 4 he already served. He had to start serving the time earlier because he suposedly violated his terms because of an interview he gave, so he started serving the 6 extra months in Jan 2012 and is now out and on 3 year probation.

Congrats! That is awesome! I can't wait for my NOA2, I'm a February filer aswell aaand Colombian.

You as the foreign fiancée (the beneficiary) can relax about his criminal record as it is YOUR police record that is in question and NOT the US citizen that is petitioning you. The only wrinkle to your story is that you traveled to USA and met your fiancé in the US, what type of visa were you on? Did you over stay? Can you prove that you met in the past 2 years, etc., etc...

Of course you’re going to need a sponsor as it sounds that his income is below the poverty level, so have HIM focus on that.

Again his record will have no impact on your K-1 BUT you say that he can't travel so be sure that all your documents are in perfect order as he can't join you and support you when you have your interview in Bogota.

Ok, I have been told that is my criminal record that really matters and I have none, so I guess I can stop worrying about that.

When I traveled to visit him I was on a tourist visa and didn't overstay. I left on Feb 14 of this year and he sent the i29f shortly after I left, so we did send evidence of us meeting and everything. We have lots of photos, my passport stamps, travel itinerary, etc...

I hope that having the financial sponsor is not seen as anything bad or whatever as a reason to deny it. I think we have that part covered.

I still don't have NOA2 but I am trying to get as much as I can ready for when I do because I don't wanna waste anytime, I miss my man! I also hope that him not coming to the interview with me is seen as a bad thing either. But I guess they'll know he is on probation and that's why he can't travel...right? Like..it's not on our application but they have to do background checks and whatnot I imagine...

Hi, I am just wondering what are the usual reasons why they deny k1 visas.

I tend to over-worry about things and since this is so important to me because it means I can marry and live with the person I love I just start thinking what if this or that is a reason for them to deny the visa. My main worries are that my american fiancé has a criminal record but for none of the crimes listed on the i29f form or any violent or drug crimes...it was just refusal to testify, he is on probation now and can't leave the country and that's why I went to the US to meet him and he hasn't been able to visit me in my country.

So my reasons to worry are: that he spent time in prison, that he has never come here, that we've only met once (I stayed there for almost 2 months), and that he is going to school and has a 2 day a week job for now, so money is not enough I guess but his mom will be the "backup" for the affidavit of support, also I don't have an official job because right now I am just helping my dad out with his work while I wait for the NOA2 and worry that saying I'm unemployed will affect the decision.

Hola muy buenas noches reportandome desde bogota super feliz contenta casi saltando en un pie jja mi cita con el medico salio perfecta les cuento todo con pelos y señales ... Me levante a las6 am llegue a las 7 20 a sacarme los examenes y delante mio habian 27 personas aprox les cuento q disq habia gente desde las 5 45 am (se dan garra) jaja me tomaron la muestra de sangre (en ayunas tiene q ser ) cuando estaba alli haciendo fila hice amigos y ps una de las niñas q tenia cita hoy mismo alas 10 en la embajada

; por cierto paisanamia y casada com estaunidense tubo q volver hacerse los examenes porq no se q le salio, lo q me alcanzo a contar q disq de tuberculina algo asi y q los resultados se le demoraban 2 meses PUEDEN CREERLO y el solo examen 500 mil pesos... Pobre chica!!!! Sigo con mi relato sali a las 10 am del laboratorio ... Tenia cita con el doctor denis a las 3 45 llegue a las 3 20 y me llamaron a las 4 15 aprox otra persona encargada tomo mi peso mi altura y lo de los ojitos .... Luego me dijeron q esperara a q llegaran los examenes del laboratorio q llegaban a las 4 30 pm a las 5 pm me llamaron para q entrara con el medico hizo una serie de preguntas por cierto un señor muy amable... Me dijo q me desvistiera toda hasta los cucos ~~ y q me pusiera una bata me tomo la presion me reviso y ya.... Me pregunto por mis vacunas y le dije q sinnceramente me faltaba una la de la varicela q no me la pude poner porq ya me habia aplicadola triple viral y son virus vivos y en la cruz roja no me autorizaron entonces dijo q no habia problema y no me aplicaron ninguna vacuna .... Me dijo q mis examenes rstaban muy bien q me sentara afuera y siguiera esperando .... Sali a las 6 30 pm de alli del consultorio denis .... FIN DEL RELATO

CONCEJITOS las vacunas donde el doctor denis son muy caras a una nena q estaba ahi le costo tetano e influenza = 125000 aprox* cuando lo normal de esas dos vacunas en la cruz roja son como 45000 ambas!! les recomiendo se las pongan 15 dias antes de la cita con el medico no el mismo dia de la cita con el medico .. Si se ponen vacunas con virus vivos antes del mes de la cita no te pueden poner mas vacunas .... Espero entiendan este trabalenguas cualquier me preguntan... Abrazossss

Alguien acá que ya se haya casado y decidió cambiarse el apellido por el del esposo me podría por favor contar como es el proceso para hacerlo?

Ademas de que todo en USA se haga con ese nuevo apellido (Greencard y todo lo demás), en Colombia también hay que cambiar todo (pasaporte, cédula, etc) ?

Y otra cosa... después de casarse y todo ese proceso que sigue después creen que es mejor nacionalizarse o seguir con una greencard, que otras opciones hay? Yo ya tengo 2 nacionalidades y no me interesa la de Estado Unidos contal de que pueda vivir allá, pero si tenerla hace las cosas mucho más fáciles lo consideraría.

Hola nena con respecto a las vacunas yo no tengo el carnet pero segun todas las nenaa que ya fueron las mas importantes son influenza, tetano, yo me volvi a poner la triple viral por si acaso. Me falto la varicela aunq no tube la enfermedad y no me la puedo poner hasta dentro de un mes te recomiendo q si puedes ponte las vacunas el mismo dia o si no con tiempo .. La del tetano son 3 dosis una cada mes... Con respecto a la varicela alla el doctor creo q te pregunta si tienes alguna manchita q te halla quedado de la varicela...

Acerca de las preguntas yo puse que soy estudiante y la direccion donde estudio.... Creo q podriaa poner q trabajas con tu padre de secretaria o no see dices q es en una oficina ponle la direccion de la oficiba de tu padre y como se llama el negocio ..... Es una idea!! les queria preguntar por las vacunas..que se que ya han preguntado pero igual me quedan dudas.

Yo solo tengo carnet de vacunacion de cuando era niña, no tengo ninguno reciente.

Entonces de esa lista de vacunas que piden tengo: hepatitis b,sarampion, polio,antituberculosa,antisarampionosa, triple bacteriana (aunque parece que me falto 1 dosis), paperas y falto dosis de dpt tambien. yo ya tuve varicela pero no tengo como probarlo(?)

Segun eso igual me faltarian muchas...como 6 o 7...entonces como dicen que ponerselas con el doctor de alla es mas caro pense en ponermelas antes de una vez, pero sinceramente le tengo panico a las vacunas y no quiero perder el tiempo poniendome vacunas que tal vez no me pidan.

Que me recomiendan?

Otra preguntica..estuve mirando los formularios y no entiendo el ds-156 porque pregunta cosas como si uno fuera de turismo o negocios...

We only met once, I was there for almost 2 months. We can't see each other again until I get the visa and go there for money reasons.

If the ask me at the embassy why he has never come here, do I say its because he is on probation or just say he hasnt been able to or what?

Me and my fiancé have petitioned for a k1 visa (i29f) so just wanted to know if anyone has had a similar situation to mine and how it went for them.

My fiancé spent a total of 10 months in prison for criminal contempt of court, which is not a violent crime or theft or anything like that at all, he just refused to testify to a grand jury, so in the time we have been in a relationship (about 2 years) he has been in all that process (being on probation and spending 6 months in prison) He is still on a 3 year probation which is why he has never visited me and why I went to visit him to the US.

I assume that in the background check they do they will find all this out, I mean, just googling his name will show anyone this.

I worry that for this reason the I29F will be denied, or that when I go to the interview at the embassy they will ask me why he has never come here and I'll have to tell them and they'll reject the visa.

hola veganmari los examenes me los hice dos dias antes de la cita en la embajada , las vacunas como yo no tenia carnet me ordenaron las 4 y me costaron 265300$ lo del certificado judicial ese me lo saco m hombre porque ami me salia siempre sin los escudos y entonces el lo imprimio pero no se como...mucha suerte en tu proceso un abrazooo....

Tendré que averiguar como hacer lo del certificado judicial, pero por lo menos aun tengo mucho tiempo para hacerlo!

Que bueno que solo te tocaron 4 vacunas porque en la lista de vacunas son como 10...no? Igual muy caro pero ni modo...

tuve la entrevista a las 7:30am, eso fue muy rapido para las que van pronto una recomendacion de una vez deben de hacersen en la fila #3 que es para las visas k y lleven de primero las formas ds-156 2, ds- 156k 1, y ds- 230 1, las fotos, el pasaporte,los divorcios, el certificado judicial,el registro civil,los examenes del medico, el w2de los dos años anteriores el 1040 y el I-134 ami no me pidieron nunguna evidencia de la relacion,pero no es de por demas que la lleven no sobra, les recomiendo mucha serenidad muy seguras de sus respuestas miren muy bien a los ojos al que los entrevista porque son muy serios, pero muy amables, mis preguntas fueron

como lo conocio? y yo muy serena respondi en internet.

quien la pide? y respondi mi hombre jajajaja

cuanto tiempo llevan de relacion? y muy tranquila dije 2 años

Te pregunto, los examenes medicos cuanto tiempo antes de la entrevista te los hiciste? lo de las vacunas como se debe llevar? te pusieron muchas vacunas?

El certificado judicial como se imprime? yo me meto a la pagina de la policia y pongo mi cedula y eso, pero despues no hay como opcion de imprimir ni nada.

Cualquier otro consejo o recomendacion te agradezco tambien!
