  1. Good Morning all,

Back in December I filed for my AOS, have since had Biometrics, got my EAD Card and have started a new job.

After sending in my AOS pack I soon realized I had forgotten to submit an I-131 Advance Parole. I have an EAD with 'NOT VALID FOR REENTRY TO U.S.'.

I wasn't too worried about this as figured I would have my AOS interview and have my GC.

However, this isn't the case, I still haven't had my interview yet.

My job will require that I travel overseas in about 3 months time.

What happens If I file my I-131 now? Do I have to re-do biometrics or do they simply just issue a new EAD that is valid for reentry?

I know this may take a couple of months, but it could still be quicker than my interview etc.

    Thanks

  2. Hi,

Firstly...did you send a letter of intent with your application? One from each of you are needed. I had an RFE for the same thing, I totally forgot to send the letters.

An example of the letter I submitted is below.

I would get this sent in asap and you will be back on track :-)

    ----

    Name

    Address

United States Department of Homeland Security

    U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

    California Service Center

    Date

    Letter of Intent

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I, "your name", do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry "your partners name", and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa.

    Yours truly,

    Your name

  3. Hi,

To open a bank account (in the USA, im guessing) you need to be present.

You do not need a SSN to open a bank account, but you will need an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

This apples to most US states. I have heard in some states like Nebraska you need a SSN.

  4. Hi,

I get that error in any browser other than Internet Explorer. e.g. chrome, firefox, safari.

However in internet explorer i get the below when the form is onscreen.

    Webpage error details
    User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; InfoPath.3)

    Message: Unterminated string constant
    Line: 2221
    Char: 2

  5. well in some ways im glad its not just me....but it is frustrating.

benjamin. - im not sure what you can do, i would take a print out of the form without hitting continue, and then one of the screen after you hit continue.

its about all you can do.

I will be calling my consulate on Monday to ask for advice, and will also emailing them.

  6. Hi,

Yep, cleared my cache, tested on multiple computers and internet connections.

checked firewalls, routers etc...even got a friend in another country to try it and the same thing.

NikiR - what happens if you load the form and just click continue, do you get a HTTP 500 error? http://evisaforms.st...gov/default.asp then DS-156.

I received my packet 3 over a week ago and they wanted this document immediately. I am getting worried they will cancel my k-1 request.

I think I am going to give them a call and see if they can help. I am getting worried.

  7. Hi,

Just wondering if anyone is currently having issues filling out the DS-156 online?

I have been trying for days using: http://evisaforms.state.gov/default.asp

I complete the form and when I click continue I get this error. (screenshot attached also)

The website cannot display the page HTTP 500
    Most likely causes:
    • The website is under maintenance.
    • The website has a programming error.

I have tired on 4 different computer, using two different internet connections.

I have tired IE 8, IE 9, IE 10, Chrome, Firefox, Safari - and Acrobat Reader is installed.

Any one else having an issue or is it just me?

  8. Hi,

I have today received my packet 3, but am a little confused.

It appears to be in two stages:

FIRST: Complete and return immediately the following: Police Cert Application, DS 230 Part 1, DS 156, DS 156K, DS 157 2 x passport photos, photocopy of passport.

SECOND: Obtain the following documents on this checklist which pertain to you. When gathered send to this office.

As i don't have all the documents yet, does this mean I should submit the first ones with a cover letter, then once I have all the additional documents submit these.

I am assuming if i submit just the first part I wont get an interview date until I have submitted the documents in the second part.

    Thanks.

  9. I got an email stating:

"On April 13, 2013, we mailed a notice requesting evidence/information for this case to you or your representative."

We are now waiting for the hard copy to turn up to see what we need.....but today I got another email stating:

"On April 19, 2013, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)."

Does anyone know if this will be 2 separate RFE's coming our way?

  11. Well, it looks like I was one of the December filers who suddenly got NOA-2 from CSC. Got a text Friday evening. I feel kinda bad for getting it while so many from July through November are still waiting, but can't help but feel relieved.

Im a November filer and got a RFE, but at least someone is looking at it....good luck!

  12. What does this email mean? I got it about 20 mins ago via Text & Email:

    Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

    Your Case Status: Initial Review

On April 11, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

    I got an NOA1 email/text on 4/1/13 already.

    Thanks,

    Mike & Weng

    Hi,

It would appear that someone at USCIS has been looked at your case, and has updated it. This doesn't mean it has moved to the next stage.

    See this:

    * Note on "Last Updated" date:

Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email and/or text message notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message.

I would think this is a good sign, and someone may have started dealing with your case.

    All the best!
