  1. I know you were asking about Guys out there... but, I am facing a $50,000+ decrease in pay (IF I can find a job!) because there are very few professional jobs for me in the Adirondacks. I think that, as a very independent and professional woman who has been financially independent and stable for a number of years now, it is very depressing and I feel like there is no one who is valuing my previous 18 years experience because it was in another country.

... yep, feeling down and depressed here... :crying:

  2. I went across Maine when I entered the USA back in Dec 2004. Went with a Uhaul truck!! I drove up to the POE officer, told him Iwas there to activate my cr-1 visa,he said, ok, go pul lup to one of the stalls and go inside. Parked, went inside, I was the only person there!! Walked up to the Customs dude, gave him my inventory list (all the stuff in the Uhaul truck, just put into a word document using "tables" nothing fancy) He looked over the list and sent me over to Immigartion. I gave them the Brown envelope. They looked it over. They had to make a few phone calls to ensure they did it properly. Asked a few basic questions, fingerprinted me, and put aink stamp on the opposite page of the visa Mtl put in my CDN passport, and that was it!! They kept al the contents of the brown enevlope, gave me back my passport (never showed them the xray) and that was it for Immigration!! Went back to Customs dude, he said everything was OK and off I went. They never looked inside the truck. Did not take that long. Very easy process. That was my experience. Best of luck

Ditto here. Such a simple process. However, this is as CR-1 visa. I do not know what the K-1 visa is like. We do not have an I-94 or anything else stamped in our passport.

    Good luck!!!

  3. hmmm, been away a few days... just a note on the gravol; dramamine is not the same and does not work anywhere near as well. I have tried many different kinds of alternatives but gravol is the only thing that works for me. (heehee... and my husband now -- even though I am the one moving, I'll make a Canadian out of him yet!:yes::yes::dance:

Oh, and has anyone been able to find mango sherbert in the US? The President's Choice brand is awesome but haven't found any in Upstate New York. :crying:

  4. I have made my husband promise to bring me to Canada for groceries every month or two... Flour... that is the biggest thing because I make my own bread. The other thing is brown sugar is a little different and I have yet to figure out how to change my dessert recipes to adapt. So, I bring down 10kg bags of flour and brown sugar among other things! I've also stocked up on Timmy's coffee, peanut butter...

Oh, how about Gravol? My husband has never heard of it but we use it alot (was part of his Christmas stocking the last couple of years!!!)

  5. Montreal felt like it was all very UNDERwhelming! The only question I was asked was how long I had been married. They were very friendly. No matter what time your appointment is at I suggest to go by 7:45am. They let you in to a waiting room and then at 8am bring you up in the elevator. Walk to the very end as it is the back doors that will open. then, turn left and follow the arrows on the floor to the windo you were directed to go.

It is a very quick and easy thing. I was out by 9:05 am!!!

    Good luck!!!
