  1. Adopting a child for immigration purposes can take atleast 2 years. Can the child manage to survive that long? You can help him financially to get the medical attention that he needs. Just my 2 cents.

If his parents are still alive, you can't adopt him.

You will not be able to adopt him. Can they try for a medical visa and get medical here?

The U.S. has very specific rules for immigration visas for adopted children. The reasons for the rules is to prevent people from bypassing immigration rules to bring relatives whom they can't otherwise bring to the U.S. by adopting these relatives.

Does the boy have two live parents? If yes, then you can forget about getting an immigration visa even if you could legally adopt.

To all those who say they can not adopt him, how do you know? Do you understand the adoption laws in the home country? No, then don't make stuff up.

The U.S. has powers over immigration visas for adopted children. The U.S. has no power over the adoptions which are governed by local laws.

The worse case scenario is a legal adoption in the home country and ineligibility for a US visa as an adopted child.

the parents are still alive. They took him to see a doctor, he has seen a few, and some said they don't know what's wrong and one of the doctors that they went to see said he could have an operation but it may not be successful. I just know if he came to the US there is a better chance of him having a successful operation. What's the medical visa? How can they go about getting that?

  2. my husband flew with Royal Air Maroc. I think It's the best way to fly if you are traveling for the first time. It was from Casablanca to New York then New York to Florida. His Port of Entry was really easy and smooth. My husband just got his ticket at a local traveling agency in Agadir. If your fiance chooses to travel with Royal Air Maroc, then he should take his passport or a copy of the biographic page of the passport with him. The ticket price was 9400 Moroccan Dirhams. It was a bit expensive because we purchased it quickly. The faster your husband gets it the cheaper the price would be. He should go to a local royal air maroc agency and check the prices :) Good Luck!

  3. So after being on AP for about 4 months my husband went and picked up his visa today!! Wow words can't describe how happy I am. I want to thank Visajourney and its users for help on this visa journey of ours. when I first wanted to start this process I didn't think I could do it without a lawyer, but I was wrong. I did this by myself with of course help from Visajourney. So don't spend your money on lawyers because that's just a waste of money when you can do it yourself. Thank you everyone!! :)

  4. OK, I just went thru this and we live in Florida. You have one year as long as he does not work to get a Florida drivers license. 2nd you will not be able to get him one until his paper work has been excepted for a green card. He does not need the green card only prove that he has filed. Same with Florida ID's. If his countries drivers license is also in english he will not have any trouble driving here. Check with local tax office's because each one will give a different story. Also check with your insurance company as they may not except him to drive with out a FL license because he is emigrating, some will some won't.

    Hope this helps.

Each state has different rules. I had to do a driving test in my state though different DMVs in different counties seemed to provide different answers on the phone when I was making my initial inquiries. At the end of the day it was easy enough to get it all done and convenient, as mentioned, to have a state-issued ID sooner rather than later. It helped with everything from opening bank accounts to registering the kids for school.

Be careful with the requirements a few years back someone on here from California arrived on a K1 ran up to Vegas to get married and got pulled over on the way home and got a ticket because California gives you 10 days to get a state licence after moving here.

Like others, strongly urge your husband to get a FL license upon arrival. Aside from making him legal (and FL is aggressive about checking these things) it is also smart because he will learn local laws. Also need to think about insurance - if he's driving you need to add him to your policy and for that he will need a valid license.

Ok thank you so much for your help everyone! so will he be able to get his license/ID with the stamp from his passport? because I don't know how long it takes for USCIS to mail the green card when you are here or the SSN.

oh ok thank you so much for the information!

  6. You are welcome.biggrin.png The plus side is having state issued ID is always a good thing. I remember once I was visiting my husband (before I got my immigrant visa) and I went out to a club with some friends..and they almost didn't let me in because they don't accept out of state ID. But for the fact that I was clearly of age (34 at the time) and my friend knew the owner, I would have been bounced.

haha that's true! :) well i'm glad you made it in alright

  7. Hi there!

My fiancé was able to get an international driver's license (he actually arrives tomorrow!) with no problem. It's good for up to 1 year (that's if you have a valid driver's license in your own country, of course).

When I lived in Spain, I was able to get an international driver's license as well through AAA. I don't know if they are available in Morocco, but I assume so- my "license' was really a small booklet that listed my information in tons of different languages and it was good for 1 year, as well. For it to be valid, you had to present the booklet PLUS your valid license from your country when driving.

oh ok thank you so much! and congrats! finally your fiance will be with you :)

  8. I think that is for the police or military. My husband was a teacher there. He resigned from his job just before he came here. I don't recall any paper that allowed him to leave, but I will ask him when he gets home.

oh please do! My husband is a teacher and we don't know what steps to do. thank you!

yes, they will ask about ' tarkhiss from niyaba ' to leave the country !

walakin the tarkhiss is only given in the summer. What if you want to leave the country during the school year; what do you do? is it really necessary? thanks

  9. Ok let's say you work at a public school as a teacher. when you want to leave the country, does the consulate or the police at the airport ask you for any paper that allows you to leave the country? I'm on assumption that in Morocco you need to have some kind of paper stating it's ok to leave the country when you work as a teacher, is that right? did anyone go through this? any input would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

  10. I know how you feel! My husband is under AP as well. Well for the medical exam, I called Dr.Ambari's office and I spoke to this lady and she told me that they expire after 6 months. Is that where your fiance did his medical exam? I actually had the same question regarding the police certificate as well.

  11. me to they updated my status on the 14th sept.17th sept.19 sept.and also 24th sept but still there nothing yet from there my case creation was on 24january2013. visa CR1 i called them last tuesday and they told me that they have some problem on the system so hopefully they can notify us as soon possible inshallah

wow they updated your case that many times? did you call them on those days? because the status updates whenever we call them or email them, so I stopped doing that and it updated by itself two times. What kind of problems were they having with the system? Insha Allah I really hope so.

no extra forms the CO just told her to give her passport to the next window and after she gave her passport she left

Did they tell her what day to come back or they said they will call when they are ready with the visa? I suggest you call the consulate and see what's going on.

  12. Inshallah...I hope these updates means good new is around the corner,my prayers are with you. Yes I did contact my congressman on 9-20-2013 but no contact from their office yet. It will probably take 2-4 weeks before they can find out any information.

I leave this to Allah because only he knows the end to this journey.

There are lost of VJ members going through the same process

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/455984-cario-embasy-who-is-in-ap/

Insha Allah okhti! have you heard anything back from the congressman? when I contacted my congressman it didn't take that long for them to respond to my inquiry it took the same day for them to get back to me, but the consulate responded to the congressman in about 2 weeks then the congressman forwarded the email to me. You are right only Allah knows the outcome and only He knows what's best for us. I hope you hear good news. Did you fill out a form and fax it to your congressman?
