  1. Ack, are you calling via skype? I hate when I've been waiting on hold for half an hour and as soon as a rep picks up, skype cuts the call. I have been seriously close to tossing my computer out the window a few times.

Keep us posted on what they say!

Yep, via Skype. I did, eventually, speak with an operator. IV packet hasn't been reviewed yet. Then asked about my expedite request - hasn't been forwarded to the embassy yet!!! So, I asked for a Supervisor and spoke with Ethan (really nice guy) and he said that the expedite had just been forwarded to the embassy today -- Ladies and Gentlemen, in the age of email, why does it take seven days to forward an email? I gather that the NVC defines the word Expedite differently than I do. He also described the "false checklist" as getting "crossed in the mail" with the IV packet. That indicates that they definitely don't scan packets in when they arrive in the mail room. I know,,,, small potatoes compared to the difficulties other's are having on this board.

  2. Called back and got the IIN# but there in no invoice showing yet. How long does it take to show up? I want to get it paid ASAP. To move things forward.

It can take a few days. Maybe three or four. You will get your AOS Fee Bill first along with the DS-3032 if you requested all by email. The IV Fee Bill comes after they have received and entered your DS-3032 email so get that in as fast as possible too. Pay your AOS Fee Bill and print out your Cover SHeet and send your AOS packet immediately - don't wait for the portal to show paid. As long as that cover sheet is attached you're fine. The IV Fee Bill will show up on the portal after they have received and entered your DS-3032. Likewise with the IV - don't wait. Print the cover sheet and mail your packet as soon as you can.

  3. Congrats!!

Quick question about the birth certificate. My husband doesn't have his but we got a certified copy of his bc from his local government. Is that what you guys got??

As long as his birth has been registered with the government and you have a certified copy then you are good to go.

Actually, a false checklist could mean they've approved your IV package! I'd give them a call to confirm! good.gif

laughing.gif I am on the phone now. Been disconnected once after being on hold for 20 minutes… Thank you for the ray of hope.

  4. You can take a look at this table, if it is right, then Nepal issues over 3000 IVs a year. By comparison, Sweden which services 3 countries (Sweden, Denmark, and Norway) issued 435. Seems like they are busy.

Had to edit my comment, you are absolutely right,,,, Amazing! But something seems strange with those numbers. I am guessing that 2012 was "a big year" because the US settled thousands of Bhutanese refugees. That would account for why they only had two immigrant cases so far in March compared with last years totals which would make it over 12 cases per working day!!

  5. Sheer boredom led me to wonder how many immigrant cases my Embassy receives per month. I figured this would give me an idea of whether they could expedite my case or not… I've heard the phrase "depending on case load" mentioned a few times.

So, I searched DHL for the last five months and found exactly 2 shipments from NVC both in March. ph34r.gif Could this be right??? Now I know why they haven't answered my email… they're too busy making money on non-immigrant visa applications. So cynical… I know.

  6. [#1029] Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed length. Please go back and shorten it a little.headbonk.gif

    Grrrr why

I have had the same problems. Very frustrating! One hint: if you are trying to add another line below and you type a return character at the end of the line it will add all sorts of invisible "BB code" to your signature. Which increases the length. The secret is to type one character at the end of your current line then put the cursor in front of that character and then hit the return key. No extra formatting will be added before and after the invisible return character. One more thing: to remove all the formatting and start over click on the "double A icon with the red badge with a minus in it" at the top left. Then reformat all of your text from scratch. This will clean it all up and remove the invisible BB code formatting.

  7. Case complete today 3/22/2013.

send both AOS and IV package together and received by NVC 3/13/2013. case complete by nine(9)days. No checklist, Thank God and all members of VJ especially saylin. Folks I think is better to send both package together in one envelope with each barcode as it get reviewed together. The reason I say this is because when i call this morning they told they havent reviewed the package yet and just now when i called the operator told me both packages were reviewed this afternoon and case is completed awaiting interview at the consulate.

    Excellent! Congratulations.

  8. Remember, the expedite request is forwarded to the embassy (NVC doesn't decide on the expedite request). So time frames are going to vary as it depends on how fast the embassy will respond (which is dependent upon work load).

Maybe I will call again next Monday and ask the operator if a T2 would have more information on the expedite. I want to be gentle with the operators' egos.

  9. You will need a copy of the NOA2 Approval for the adjustment of status. Call USCIS and find out.

For the OP, if you do not have an NOA2 by now, your expedite was not approved. Expedited petitions are usually approved within a week. If it is not approved you hear nothing.

What was the basis for your request?

This may depend on when you submit your expedite request. I emailed mine after my case was nearly finished at NVC. I received an email after requesting an expedite specifically stating that I would receive confirmation via email. Mine has taken longer than a work week - five days - it hasn't been approved or denied,,,,,, yet. If I can remember I will update this thread on how long it took mine to be approved/denied.

  10. Can anyone tell me how long it has taken to get a response on an expedite request is? They received ours on Monday AM. Called today and they are saying they have it but to expect a response sometime next week. Looking at the timeframe other's expedites were handled in I was expecting an answer within a weeks time not two. I guess it's a good sign that it wasn't rejected immediately?? The operator, Mel, was congenial.

Our case has taken one step forward - our AOS packet was accepted - found that out today! kicking.gif

  11. Called NVC, nothing… nothing on my AOS, nothing on our IV, nothing on our expedite request (received Monday AM).

Just so you know, the operator I reached today says that they don't make a note in the system when they receive your mail, only once it's been reviewed by someone. Apparently they only make a note when they receive your case from USCIS; not for any mail you send them.huh.gif Maybe this is why there is confusion over which day they say your case arrived from USCIS - they are just guessing!

  12. This is interesting. Both IV and AOS packets were received by the NVC on the 11th. However, the AOS packet was sent from the US and the IV package was sent straight from overseas, so two different envelopes. Here's the funny part: I just got off the phone with NVC and they said the IV package has been reviewed and accepted but they still haven't received the AOS package! retards.

So, hopefully, praying, by tomorrow we'll have case complete! I'd stay up to call one more time before NVC closes but it's 1 AM and I have a hair appt tomorrow morning, gotta go beautify myself! :P

Your progress gives me hope. I wish I understood their procedure better. Does the mail room just take all of the envelopes and put them on a cart and push it around the office randomly tossing packages onto peoples desks like christmas presents, or does one person handle a case from beginning to end? If our shipments were entered into the system upon arrival at least the operators would know they are in the building. I can't stop thinking about how to make this process more efficient…

  13. Damnit, here I was hoping my IV fee would switch to paid, but NVC was closed. Not sure if there's any human involvement in the process, my AOS fee went from in process to paid in 1 day, it's been in process since fri evening now, hopefully it'll switch tomorrow!

Sigh, this IV packet has grown to be a BEAST, not going to fit in the USPS Flat Rate Express Mail envelope. sad.gif

You don't have to wait for it to show as PAID before you ship. You can ship now. I learned this after the fact - I wish I had sent mine in four days earlier than I did. It would have been there when the fee was cleared by the bank. Just make sure you include your barcoded cover sheet! You have to print that out and attach it to the DS-230. Your cover letter on top. I am wondering why your IV packet is so thick? I think ours was about 12 pages.

  14. hi saylin wanted to ask you this ok? i know my wife is going to fill out her ds-230 and only sign part -1 what im asking specifically is does it mean she fills out both part-1 and part-2 but only signs part -1 am i correct in all of this? thks saylin

Fill out part I and II don't sign Part II. If you read the directions it tells you not to sign, don't sign. You will sign this in front of the Consular at the Interview after taking an oath.

  15. I didn't call all last week hoping that I would be able to call just once today and get a case complete, but no cigar

I'm sad, if I don't get a case complete this week there goes my hope for a late April interview!

Sorry to hear that. Are interviews there given within 30 days of case complete? I hope it's the same here. I emailed the Embassy to ask about that - no reply. What a building full of stinkers they are.

  16. Question, NVC received my AOS packet last week. They have the IV packet as of today. I have called twice now but I don't really know what to ask. The first time I asked, "what is the status of my case" and was told they are waiting for my DS-230. Today I told the operator that they received my AOS last week and I asked if my AOS has been reviewed and if there are any issues, RFEs, for it. She said, "OK, you have to wait 20 days…" Difficult for me to interpret what's going on in that black box we call the NVC.
