Definitely apply for an EAD. We got ours 2 months after we filed. Like someone said above, you will need the EAD to get a driver´s license here. It´s also easier to get a SS# with it too.

The NBC seems to be all over the place with their processing times - I have seen people from September get their approvals as well as that I have seen people from November 2012 still waiting.
If you are picked as a potential interview waiver case (which usually stays at the NBC until it gets approved), you should receive a notice in the mail at some point.

I wouldn't add the rocky parts. you also don't have to send every email you guys have sent to each other. 4-5 recent ones will be sufficient.
