  1. I sent a copy of my SSC showing the address. Maybe you could add that.

Even if you don't have a car or don't plan to drive, your husband can get a Learner's Permit. Your parents can add him on their Insurance plan (I don't think it costs much for a Learner's Permit). Try a different DMV office.

  2. We have been together since 2005.

    1. We do not have a joint account, for some reason, he doesn't like the idea to have a joint account, he's saying that we don't have money to safe and he's paying for everything, I don't have income, I have been shopping for myself with all his credit cards, and he never complains paying for me for everything, always asks me if I need money for whatever. He said what's the point to have a joint account. I told him that we need a joint account as one of the evident document to show the immigration that we're legit and it's for real. He disagreed with me and said that's ridiculousness requirement to judge if it's a real marriage or not. Finally, I convinced him to open a joint account, and it has been delayed, there is always something comes up. So, at the end of the Jan, we still have not opened a joint account yet.

I and my husband have been together since 2003. We do, however, have a joint checking account since January 2011.

I think you should get a joint account now and ask your husband to write a letter explaining why you do not have one until now and pray that the USCIS will understand.

How did you file tax return for 2011 and 2012? If you filled jointly, then make sure to request tax transcripts and send them with the package.

    2. My name is not on any utility bills, not on phone bill, not on TV/Internet bill, he did not put my name in his family health insurance plan. His insurance is under his parent's family plan. Since his father is a doctor, I do not pay anything to his father when I need to see a doctor, his Dad covers everything for me. Whenever I need to see other doctors, we will pay cash, he pays before I got this job, and now I pay the doctor bill whenever I have to. He said it's is a waste to add me into his parents' family health plan.

We don't have any utility bills as it's covered by the lease. We don't have a home phone, TV and/or Internet bill either. We do, however, have cell phone bills. My name is not on the statement, but I am the authorized user. So, do you have a cell phone?

We never have health insurance as we don't think it's necessary, and it costs too much. I work in a clinic, so I and my husband can get treatment as needed.

    3. We do not have life insurance, we do not have kids, in our opinion, life insurance is needed when you have children.

We do not have life insurance either.

    4. We do not have children. We do not want to have children just to prove that we are legit to immigration, that's just absurd. We're still too young and too ambitious with our career right now, do not want to have children. and we're working so hard to ensure a great future and in better financial situation for the children.

We do not have children either, even though the subject comes up at times :)

What we have are photos that we all took together with his family (parents and siblings) with my family (parents and my cousins and relatives), the trips we did together with the families.

I sent in a collage with pictures taken for Xmas 2012 with my husband's family: his parents, his sister, niece, and brother-in-law. Also collages with pictures at the beach, road trip, my husband's birthday, etc.

I am writing this to show you that everyone case is different and you are not alone. Do the best you can with what you have. You and your husband are together since 2005, so I think 8-year relationship should count for something. You may write a letter to USCIS and explain the situation. Who is going to be with someone for 8 years just to "fake" a marriage :)

You might receipt an RFE or even an interview. Be prepared and good luck!

  3. Update: USPS shows that my package was delivered today 01/16/2013 at 11:22AM

    You entered: xxx

    Your Item's Status

Your item was delivered at 11:22 am on January 16, 2013 in SAINT ALBANS, VT 05478 to INS . The item was signed for by D RENAUD.

I used Priority Mail with Signature Confirmation. The package was sent on Monday 01/14/2013 around 3:00PM. The local contract post office did not have any Express Mail envelope big enough for my file or I would have used Express Mail. But at the end, the delivery time is the same.

  4. hi everyone!

its been a long time. my wife is now a USC and she wants to bring her parents to the US now. but we have a problem, her mother lost her lost birth certificate, she is having trouble getting another copy of it. anyone here know how we can get another copy of it? i have no idea where to even start looking of calling. my wife is just asking me to help her. thanks for any help that you guys can provide.

That's fairly easy and the fee is very reasonable to do in Viet Nam. All she has to do is to go to the place (county/city/, etc.) where the birth was registered. She can get a "Ban sao" or an Extract of the original birth certificate. Tell her to get multiples just in case :)

It's a similar process in the U.S when my husband wants to get his certified birth certificate (he is a U.S-born)

  5. I have done Option 3. At first, I had a translated version which was notarized by the government officials; they are my birth certificate and high school transcripts. Then it became inconvenience to mail documents to the U.S, so I translated them myself. All you have to do is to say at the bottom that you certify that the translation is true and accurate and sign your name. If you have the translated version, just copy the wording from the notary.

I have not had any problems with USCIS.

  6. I have a similar situation and I just file to Remove my Conditions. So I expect to get my 10-yr GC next year, then I will file N-400. Probably take another 6 months. Then I will file I-130 for my father which should take another 6 months and then he will go through the Consular processing for his GC. After that my father will petition my sister who will be under F2B (my sister is over 21)

I think this should be the fastest way to go. Any thoughts? Thank you.
