  1. The worry is that if I tell the SSA my first name is Billy George, what's to stop USCIS having the same issue when I tell them my first name is Billy and my middle name is George? Won't they look at all of the same evidence SSA looked at and question what I've put on the form? By which I mean, if I put first name: Billy, middle name: George, on my AOS form, will USCIS turn around and tell me that it looks like my first name is actually Billy George, with no middle name?

Edit: Just remembered, on what you said about the passport being chipped BillyGeorge, I've noticed that whenever I'm checking flight itineraries my name comes up as Billygeorge, when I first saw it, I thought it was a mistake with the airline so I called my travel agent and asked if there'd be an issue and they told me there wouldn't. So when it's happened other times I just shrugged it off as nothing, so potentially my passport could say my first name is Billy George?

  2. Won't they just look at my birth certificate and tell me my name is "Billy George" as that's how it looks on the birth cert? Or my passport where it only says that my "Given Names" are Billy George. I don't have any documents that specify a difference between a first and middle name, only those that list names together. Does this mean that in some technicality, my legal name is actually "Billy George"?

Also, is there another list of locations I can use? That one on the CBP site doesn't seem to like me.

  3. I'm not sure if the issue is with my entry, or the visa itself. My i-94 says first (given) name is Billy George, and my visa says "Given Name" is Billy George. So I'm not entirely sure where I need to get it fixed...or if I have anything to get fixed, as far as I know my first and middle names are separate...on my UK passport it lists "Given Names" with an S as "Billy George", but on my British Birth Certificate it just lists "Name and Surname" without specifying anywhere for a middle name. So my parents simply completed that with "Billy George SURNAME" at the time.

  4. Hey guys. So I just got back from the SS office attempting to apply for my number and card, but encountered an issue which the agent told me was "A very big problem that I should get fixed soon".

My issue is that apparently, on both my visa and i-94, my first and middle names have been entered as my first name only. My first name is Billy, my middle is George. In my UK passport, it lists "Given Names" which lists both Billy George, whereas on the visa & i-94 it lists "Given Name" as Billy George. Apparently this means different things because when I filled out my application form at the SS office and listed my first name as Billy and my middle name as George, the agent encountered the issue, telling me as far as the US is concerned my first name is Billy George. He told me I need to make an infopass appointment at my local USCIS office, but after some calls to various places, I got told to contact DHS, then the NVC, then USCIS. Lots of being bounced around.

I was just wondering if anyone had gone through this issue and had any advice?

    It's much appreciated, thank you.

  5. Ah, alright, Thanks for easing my mind. I did try to do some searching before making a topic, but couldn't find much that said it's common for everyone. I guess I just saw it and panicked after going through this entire process and then seeing something I didn't recognise. But thank you.

  6. So I had my interview in London on the 5th September, got approved. I just checked my CEAC status and it says AP. Now, I've done a search on the forums and read about what generally leads to this, but I was wondering if this is now common with the recent changes at the embassy? I've got absolutely no ties to any MENA countries, never visited, no parents from there, name sounds very British.

My interview went fine, I had all of the documents required + more that I didn't even need. Anyone have any ideas? Kinda worrying me now.

  7. Maybe get a printout of the x-ray and frame it? Could make some pretty cool wall art?

Also, unrelated, Interview technically tomorrow (5th), despite checking everything several times and constantly reading this site, I can't help but be nervous. I'm sure I know the exact process of what happens at the interview after reading so many of the reviews. Just feels weird to be at this stage.

  8. They've been really awkward since this whole change thing. I've been trying to contact them for weeks to ask for my fiance's name to be added to my Interview. Heard nothing back after submitting the form, waiting the 5 business days stated, then submitting it again just in case they missed it. Not gotten anywhere from the switchboard either, after being told to call the MRV payment number and being told they have no information, then being transferred to an automated message by the switchboard operator, I was then told to 'just wait for a response' after calling again. With a week to go until my interview, I have no idea if she's going to be able to attend with me.

  9. Hey, my fiance and I were just wondering about the date given on the NOA2 letter stating it will expire after four months of this date.

As stated, a notarized letter of intent is required at interview if this date is passed, but we were wondering if having the fiance attend the interview would negate the need for this?

We're currently both in the UK together waiting for the interview and notaries seems to be harder to find here than in the US, plus more expensive. Just wondering if anybody had any info.

    Thanks.

  10. Medical was today! Not much to say that hasn't already been reported. Man doing the x-rays was nice and friendly, everything was working and there weren't any issues. Was in and out fairly quickly with little waiting.

Now to just wait until Friday to see if I hear anything, as other people have said, no news is good news.

    Next step here we come!

  11. Hello everyone, so as you all know the embassy has had some changes recently, I was just wondering if anybody knew how to contact the embassy directly in regards to case-specific details?

I understand that a code is needed to email them, or at least that's how it was previously, so I was trying to contact them to get said code.

I tried recently with that new call centre number, but that was no help, they simply told me that was for organising new appointments and paying fees and they had no contact information for the embassy (after spending a good couple of hours trying to ask them)

After the call centre I tried the switchboard number for the embassy and eventually got through to some angry sounding woman who told me to call the number on their website (This number being the call centre number, hooray!)

I then tried submitting a question to two different contact forms, but received no reply at all.

Does anybody know which number is needed to contact them about information regarding my case, or which email address/code to use?

    Thanks.

  12. Yeah, the 2001 is the application readiness form which isn't sent until after the medical unless I'm mistaken? As of right now, I've got my police certificate, I've booked my medical and I've collected my sponsorship documentation.

As far as I'm aware, I need to attend my medical, send form DS-2001 and then wait to hear from the embassy?

  13. Hey everyone,

So I recently sent off my DS-Forms to the embassy as per 'Packet 3', but it occured to me I didn't include any cover letter indicating my case number (Foolishly) I was just wondering if anyone else had done this and how it panned out? Is it worth re-sending them or will they match them up to my case themselves?

I'd like to avoid calling if at all possible because the number's fairly expensive.

    Thanks.

  14. It may not be fair, but it's definitely not of your doing. It is what it is. Each of us will get ours in due time, just some may take a bit of extra diligence.

Congrats, now that you got yours, can you tell them it's ok to process mine? devil.gif

Your NOA1 date is about a week before ours was, I reckon yours will be this month. I'm utterly shocked to have it this early, we weren't expecting to be done with the entire process until at least Christmas up until a few weeks ago when CSC started speeding up, then it switched to a sort of "Well I guess if they DO mean 5 months then we'll be at mid-July" and even that seemed too optimistic..but then this!

Good luck to everyone else though, especially those who're still waiting well over 5 months.

  15. Ah! Oh god. I woke up this morning, checked my email as I always do and saw one from USCIS, I just figured it was something to do with the account as I had to re-open it recently due to inactivity, but NOPE. Our approval came on the 4th!

We filed on the 15th Feb, NOA1 dated on the 21st Feb, no RFEs....103 days. It feels unfair to those still waiting from long ago. Stick with it guys, your time will come.

  16. My fiance and I are planning this very same thing for June. I asked recently in the UK forum and got a few replies basically saying to have a return ticket for six months, your NOA1 so you can[ prove you're not planning to live, and a bank statement from your British fiance to prove they can support you. If your fiance is going back with you, that will help a lot too, apparently.

Our plan is to have the NOA1 and some other K1 related paperwork, a bank statement, and a valid 6 month return ticket. I'll also give my US fiance my contact details in case the immigration officer can/wants to call me to confirm. I'll also suggest that I'll be in the airport at the time of her arrival if they really want to pull me aside to ask me questions.

Hopefully this goes well for us and for you too! Good luck.
