I called the psychiatrist to see about the report and they told me they will call when they are done. I asked if it would be a couple weeks or how long and they repeated they will call when they are done. It is very discouraging and I almost wish we wouldn't have told the medical doctor he takes meds for depression then we wouldn't be waiting for a psychiatrist report.

Help!!! my boyfriend completed his appointment at the US approved psychiatrist Dr Jose Maria Sifontes on august 1st.( When he had his physical exam the doctor said he must get a psychiatric exam also.) The doctor told him the papers would be ready in 10 to 15 days. It is now also 4 weeks and the papers still are not ready. The embassy told us we cannot make another appointment till we have this report from the psychiatrist. how can we hurry the psychiatrist???? My boyfriend is almost going crazy waiting!

we had our interview and My boyfriend also has to get a psychiatric evaluation done. He has struggled with depression in the past and still takes meds but is he totally normal. It's hard to understand why they want this evaluation. my boyfriends eval is tomorrow then as soon as the embassy has the papers we can schedule another interview.

Is there more than one government approved psyciatrist? The government doctors that gave the psysical are the ones that gave him a referal so that he could get an appointment with the psyciatrist and they only gave one name. Who would you call find out if there are more? I looked on the embasy approved list of doctors but they only list the doctors for the regular physical.

Feeling very frustrated right now. My fiance hd his physical for his interview and the doctor decided he must have a psyciatriac evaluation because he takes meds for depression (which he has been taking for years) . The frustrating part is when he went to make his appointment for that he could not get thru, so I called and they finally answered but the woman was not friendly at all. The first opening they had was for August 9th and his interview date is July 10th which means we will have to wit till after his psyc evaluation even if we are approved at the embassy. So discouraging, seems like we'll never get there!

Congratulations! I know the waiting is no fun, we been working on my fiance K1 visa since August of last year and finally have an interview for July 10 only to find out he needs to go to another doctor whose first open appontment is August 9 so I guess we just keep waiting.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. I'm planning to there even I need to wait outside, at least he can know I'm there supporting him.

My fiance from El Salvador is having his interview July 10th. My lawyer thinks I will be able to go into the interview with him but from reading over the embassy rules I am not sure. Should I spend the money and fly down even if they don't let me in at the interview? we have met all the requirements for the K1 visa including me visiting him various times.I love to hear from others from El Salvador who have gone through the same thing.

Just a question did you have problems getting your packets in El Salvador? My boyfriend never recieved packet 3 in the mail. we finally got it through email. Can you get packet 4 through email?

we mail packet 3 May 8th and haven't heard anything since.

I am working on a K1 visa for my fiance in El Salvador. We mailed the papers from packet 3 to the El Salvador embassy with cargo express. We also paid the processing of $240 for the visa? How long do you usually wait till you recieve packet 4 or do we need to make his interview appointment before we recieve packet 4? We sent the papers in to the embassy May 8th and have heard nothing since.

My fiancee had her interview on March 13,2013. Everything went well, God blessed her, and she breezed through the interview. I had prepared her well for all the questions and she did a fine job. The consular officer informed her that her visa had been approved and she would get it within 4 days . I was thinking that it was going to be at least 2 weeks with how slow they are but on Monday my fiancee called Cargo expreso and it had arrived!! Visa is hand and so is the plane ticket!! My baby this long journey is almost over!! Now I just have to work extra hard and get the Adjustment of Status done, ahh more work...here we go again!!!

If anybody has any questions or need tips, let me know and I will gladly help. I known how it feels to go through this painstaking process and I did not get much help through the forums. It seems there are fewer people applying for the k-1 visa than the spouse visas. May God shine your way through your visa journey as he did with us....

Just a question My fiance is also from El Salvador. I am petitioning for him with a K1 visa. I recieved our approval letter from the USCIS and my lawyer informed me that things have changed and the paperwork for those in El Salvador is no longer going to national visa center instead it is being sent directly to the embassy in El Salvador. how long did it take your papers to go to the embassy from the states and when they recieved it did they notify you? Also how long did it take till you recived your first packet from the embassy?

I found a lawyer to be very helpful when I wasn,t sure about some things.
