  1. Hi all,

I am a US Citizen and my wife is currently permanent resident (green card). My in-laws, both father and mother in law, want to come visit/vacation in the US, what VISA will they need? Also, there is high possibility that we will file for family immigration visa for them later, NOT NOW, pending how they feel after the visit. So will a tourist visa or a visiting cause problems later for immigration?  Thanks!

  2. Hi all

So my aunt passed her interview in GUZ last month. I got her a roundtrip tickets from China to Chicago (RoundTrip is actually 400 cheapter than ONEWAY!), but now wondering if this is going to be a problem. Some one mentioned to me today that roundtrip will raise questions at poe with immigration. Is this true? I am kinda concern since she doesnt really speak english....Can I write a letter explaining that roundtrip was purchased to save cost and that she had no intention of using the return iternary? Thanks

  3. Hi all this is a follow up qustion from my previous post....so I just want to confirm if filling out a new I864/A forms is acceptable. We are having trouble finding the orginal hand filled version (the one that was scanned and submitted through email around Dec 2014). I am wondering if I can just refill and type the same content from the original copy version. Ofrouce same signature and will be signed by me. The only differnce would be a typed vesion vs prior hand written. Does this matter?

  4. Hi all

So I co-sponsored with my father on my uncle's visa application. Everything went well and he is on schedueld for interview later this month in GUZ. We filed everything electronically. So on his letter, one of the requirements is to bring the original finance doc. I am wondering if I need to physically mail him the I864 /A forms that I filled out alond with tax returns for his interview. Or is it okay to email him these doc to print out and bring with to his interview. I was under the impression that email him is okay, thus kinda wait till the last minute. Please let me know the actual physical is needed, i think i still have time to do a rush global delivery. Thanks

  5. Thanks Ian!

Darnell - how are you? Thanks for bringing up the electronic opt in. I almost forgot about this ( yea only just a year ago..). Anyway this is what I sent to ask for opt in for my wife last year. I assume this would be the same format? And also this need to be sent after I-864, I -864 A, and DS 260 are completed right?

  6. Hi all,

So, the ceac.state.gov finally show the fees are paid. Just to make sure I am understanding this correctly, please let me know if I am missing anything below. Thanks!

    1. My dad is the the petitioner for this process however he currently retired without any income and so I will be the joint sponsor for meeting that number. My tax return should be sufficient enough for this after checking the poverty limit. My question is that do we both need to fill out the I 864? My dad live with me for the past 5 years and I claimed him as dependent on my tax returns every year. Do I still need to write a letter of relationship in this case?
    2. So I see the IV Application link for the applicants (my uncle and my aunt) in ceac.state.gov --> I assume this is the online application for DS - 260?

Since this is a brother/sister application, is there still any evidence materials needed to submit?

  7. Ok, great thanks! So yes I called the NVC early morning and re-opened this case. I just got the LIVAOS COMBINED FOR NEOPOST DS-1200 email this morning and made the payments online for IV Fee Payment Receipt.

    120 for the petitioner

320 for each of the applicant

So I guess the next step is for interview schedule? Also my father is the petitioner applying for my uncle and aunt and my father is currently retired. I have sufficient income filling to help on the affidavit of support. Where and how I do submit this form? Any advice? Thanks!

  8. Hi all

So this is regard with a brother/sister petition of US Citizen. In 2012, we received the notification for steps for case to be sent to GZ China, however due to family reasons we have missed to follow up and thought the case would be expired. Anyway, as of last night, we got an email with the following letter from NVC. We are excited now learning that there still might be chance to go forward according to this letter and wish to continue the process. So I am wondering if anyone had went through this process or familiar with this process. Also, just to be sure I am understanding this correctly that this is really another chance to continue? I tried calling NVC all day today, but can hardly get anyone on the phone to answer. Thus I am turning to this site and hope to get some feedbacks. I want to thank you in advance for any feedbacks and suggestions. Thanks!

  9. dude, I have no idea how you still find this question to be complex, as mentioned already, the whole point of this post here is really figure out the application process/limitation. Bring her hers is the option we going for which means exactly what I had asked about, the application requirement. Now regarding with insurance, which we will deal with it later when she arrived, regardless of the method to get her provided. Anyway, I am not looking to go back and forth on this. Thanks for you reply, but please stop on this topic now and move on

  10. Obamacare?

Just wondering how you could have missed it.

Obviously Insurance of any kind is only a small part of the costs.

If you can afford it good for you.

by all mean, no offense, is OBAMA care part of immigration requirement now? This really what I am asking about in my last post, maybe wasn't clear enough. Anyway, we will deal with insurance options later in another post/topic else where...

  11. Hi all, thanks for the fast reply on this! So we will proceed the journey on petition this weekend. I would agree to most of the concerns above about moving someone to the US. But unfortunately this is only option left due to many family reasons and yes this is my grannie's wish to be with us. Believe me I DO KNOW how stressful to move/petition someone (been through this for the past 3 years....)

Anyway, my father (her son) will be petitioning her. My grandpa passed away, part of reason why grannie feeling lonely.

mimolicious- Btw is health insurance required as part of the application process? Just to understand if this is an actual requirement or just an assumption?

  12. Hi Guys,

So this is about my 92 years old grandma who we are planning to bring on here to the states. My father have petitioned her 15 years ago and was approved, however my grandma decided to stay back in China back then so the petition went expired. Now with almost everyone in our family have moved here to the states, she wants to be with us. Also due to her health condition, we need to be around her to take care her....So the short questions is can we still petition her after the one incident where the application went expired? And is her age going to be a problem with GUZ interview? Thanks!

  13. As I previous posted, this is my full review of our journey to America. I like to first thank to those of you who post tremendous amount of knowledge post on immigration and especially, thank you, Darnell. Also thanks for the kindly service from Eunice ( Marc Ellis’s assistance).

I am going to divide this into two sections, first will be overview bullet point for those just want a quick view. And second a detail summary… Feel free to pm me or post if you have question this, I think it’s fair to give and take. Something back to community.

    Part A: Quick overview

Me: Born in Fujian China (fluent in Chinese) Male, Age-29, And Occupation: Global Technology Consultant (income high above federal poverty level) Marriage history: Previously Married and Divorced, no children. My prior (first) was arranged marriage from parent. Ex-wife from Fujian (Red Flag), , China. I petition her in 2005 through K1. Divorced in 2010.

My Current wife: Female, Age 29 Occupation: in house accountant. Marriage history: No previous marriage or children. From Fujian (Red Flag),, China.

Meet my wife after my divorced, dated for a year and flew back at least 6 times before our marriage in 2011. Son was born in Dec 2012.

Filed CR1/Spousal Visa in Oct 2012, applied my son’s passport in March 2013. POE Chicago on Oct 23. (go my timeline for details)

China Visit: total 13 trips to China (I got many mileages from work travel). SAVED ALL BOARDING PASS

    Part B: Detail Summary

I first met wife online in August, 2010 through Tencent QQ -- an online messenger. She lives in Fujian China. As mentioned, my ex also is from Fujian Province. Anyway, my first marriage was arranged and was a disaster. Also we were both too young but then (ages of 22 and 21) to sustain a marriage. So the divorce was finalized in July 2010. She remarried in 2011.

As I have mentioned above, I was trying to start a new life after the divorce and my wife was introduced to me by my cousin at the time. We started our first web chat in August, 2010. We talked about our lives, our past experiences, childhood, music, etc … So our daily webcat and skype continue every day at lest 2-3 hours for 4-5 months (KEPT all the chat log and screenshot of the webcat). We met in person in Feb 2011 for Chinese Year. We pretty much decided the moment we saw each other.

However, we both know that my first marriage failed from rushing into marriage. So we both agreed to take some time to continue building our relationship before marriage. We continue dating for a year and was planning to get marry in February of 2012. (took a lot of pictures on my wedding)

As I mentioned I travel a lot, so got enough mileages to fly back almost every other or 3rd month. And since I usually can work from home, each trip I usually stayed in China for 2 weeks. At one point, I actually did try find client or work in China so I can be with my wife. But that didn’t go well, I was getting offer for a fourth of my current salary in China. So I gave up that plan and glad I did.

So I was told many times that petition Fujian twice is A MAJOR red flag. I hired Mar Ellis and his assistance Eunice. After reviewing my case, I was told that since my wife was pregnant, we may have a good shoot with the baby’s US passport during the interview. So as planned, I started my petition process during my wife’s 6 months into pregnancy. Anyway took me almost to get everything ready and send it ( SO I would advise to start prepping early and use VJ’s knowledge post as advantage.)

During the process of waiting for NOA2 approval, I called the office (number from your NOA1 letter) daily. I also went to Chicago Lockbox, asking for status. Anyway somehow after my visit to local office, my case was approved forward to NVC. Then I was calling NVC every other day or every week at least. I signed up electronic process as help from Darnell’s post and VJ wiki page. My case got hold up during the last step when my PDF file got corrupt (according to NVC), which I had to re send 3 times (same file) and finally it was done and got forward to GUZ. Now come to think, my last PDF file sent to NVC was a printed copy and then scanned back as email attachment.

Waited 2 months, then comes interview in GUZ which went very smooth. My wife was asked 3 questions and passed! (see below my timeline for details)

Also one more thing to mention is that the current visa shipping process kinda sucks. I was calling and checking status every day and things are not always updated. Basically my wife’s visa was issued the day after she passed, but we didn’t have status update for two weeks. So wife ended up just showing up at CTIC bank 2 weeks after she passed and the package was there. They said they were trying to call us but we have not receive any calls….even though we thought web status should be updated….anyway we are happy now. Feels so good to have family here this year during holidays!!! J

  14. hey!!!, my wife got...although she went directly to the CTIC bank and found out that her package was already there. However on the USTravelDoc site still says process for delivery.....Also when she found out that ctic bank was trying to my my US cell phone number this whole time when they really should call my wife's cell number which was on the registration... Anyway, we are happy now, Chicago here we come! Good luck on yours, hopefully you hear something soon, but may make sense to call the bank if it make sense....

  15. Hey guys,

So I read that the shut down will not impact Spouse Visa process, but my wife's visa status is the following. This updated on http://ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-niv-passporttrack.asp 9/30/2013, the same day shut start...again, I read many post saying this is not related, but its been a full week and this is status update. So just wondering usually how long this will take for GUZ (China) to ship out? Thanks

Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery

  16. Hi,
