Thanks everyone! Feeling less anxious!

We sent our I-751 application to Vermont on 4/24 via UPS. We received confirmation via the tracking number that it was successfully delivered and signed for on 4/29. However, we have not received the NOA 1. We called this morning to inquire and were told to call back on 5/23. I'm just a little concerned because the turnaround for the receipt is typically 1 week, and we're passing the 2 week mark. Has anyone else had a delay like this recently/ever?

Perfect news for a Friday in July: My husband's I-485 petition was approved today, and the green card is in production. After receiving the Potential Interview Waiver letter on 4/22, we are both ECSTATIC that a little under 3 months later, he's been approved WITHOUT interview! Can't thank VJ enough and all of the wonderful people on here that have provided so many informative resources over the past 1 year, 5 months, and 23 days that we've been embroiled in this immigration process. I know that the battle is yet to be over, but it's nice to have gotten this far!

Don't wait until the end of processing to call customer service. Ask for a tier 2 representative to discuss your case with. Right now you should probably be banging on everyone's door at USCIS. Contact your state representative.

Thanks for the help. I think waiting is my only option. The permit expires regardless of what choice I make in the beginning of February and VJ predicts his EAD will be adjudicated in Mid-March. I'll have to work something out with the driving school in the mean time. I just wish that the MVA would have let us know of our options before we went through the whole rigmarole of getting the permit and starting driver's ed. Thanks for the advice.

Ok. We're in MD. Calling the MVA is fruitless. But I guess calling around is the best bet to figure it out.

So my husband has his permit and has started driver's education. He called to find out why his permit expires so early. Turns out the permit expires when his I-94 does. SOOOOOOOO what now? Does this mean he can't do the driving portion with the teacher and get his license until he gets his green card? I'm so irritated. The class is already paid for.

My husband and I are preparing to file AOS from a K1 visa. I know that i'm supposed to provide the 3 previous years of returns. I filed in 2012 and 2010 but not in 2011. I was a student at the time and didn't earn a lot of money doing work study. Should I file now? Can I provide the 2009 return instead?

My fiance has been in the US for almost 3 weeks now. He's interested in pursuing a master's degree while here. We'll be married in early December, and most applications are due in March. I believe that while the K1 visa is valid and after we're married he's considered a legal alien who's allowed to work. We will be filing for AOS jointly with EAD (green card) immediately after marrying. I'm a bit unsure of his status at this point. Can he apply to school in this interim period. He will have a social security number this point. Will he be eligible for financial aid through FAFSA as a married graduate student? Will he be allowed to take out loans? Anyone with any knowledge please help me out. Thanks. Enjoy the upcoming holiday.

What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):

1. A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one). Your fiance(e) should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well). 2. Send copies of the documentary proof that you submitted with the I-129F for your fiance(e) to have on hand for their interview at the embassy. Your fiance(e) should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well). 3. Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance(e) and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F). 4. I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is signed, with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all. 5. You will need several items (for the above form). Gather duplicate evidence of income and resources as appropriate:

(A) Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance
(B) Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available)
© If Self Employed: 1. Copy of last income tax return filed (or IRS transcripts); or 2. report of commercial rating concern
(D) List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. See this FAQ for more tips and useful information on the Affidavit of Support Form. 6. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail. (backup information; the embassy will have copies of this as well) 7. Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview! Include photos, travel documents, emails, online chat logs (pick several over the prior few months), etc.. from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 until date-now).

Examples: Copies of land line and cell phone bills, appropriate emails and letters you have sent including the stamps on envelopes (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

NOTE: Tip Regarding Vaccination Records

The K-1/2 beneficiary will be required by the embassy to have a "medical" done prior to the visa interview. Part of this interview will require that previous vaccinations are documented and potentially additional required vaccinations performed. Once this is complete the doctor will note this on a DS-3025 form that will be sent to the embassy. During the medical appointment request an official copy of the vaccination records from the physician (or a copy of the completed DS-3025 if they will give it to you) as this will be helpful to have on hand in the future (specifically it can be helpful when filing for Adjustment of Status if your DS-3025 form is not available).

I really feel for you ToshLove. It's absolutely ridiculous that they wouldn't explain these procedures to you while you are physically in their presence. The officer that collects the evidence could clearly SEE that you not only have extra documents that you are holding in your hands but both of you are together, and chose to remain silent. That's infuriating, that someone could be so cold. I hope that things will go better for the 2 of you, and that the bureaucratic b.s. is left out of it this time around.

The embassy will mail you a formal letter a few weeks later saying that they have processed your petition and that your fiance can pick up his packet on any Wednesday at 9am. However, if you email the embassy (addresses listed in the 'embassy info' tab on this website about the packet, they will respond with an email for your fiance to print out and bring with him when he goes to pick up the packet. It cuts about 2-3 weeks out of the waiting process. I did this. My petition was processed on the August 12th and he was able to get his packet on the 21st. He now has a september 30th interview date.

stick with the co sponsor bcos i have read how the ghana embassy can be strict with the I134.. By the way I ask earlier can u show me how to track the package on DHL to see if the Ghana consulate have it signed in their system.Thanks

My fiance's interview is on September 30th. Originally, I had decided to use a co-sponsor because I was working 3 part-time jobs and wanted to be on the safe side in terms of looking financially viable. However, I was recently offered a full time position that would cover the financial requirements for the k1 visa. The job starts on September 9th. I would be letting go of 2 of the part time jobs, which means working 1 part time job, and 1 ft job. I'm not sure how to reflect all of these changes on the I-134. Do I still need a sponsor? I don't have any paystubs from the job that starts on the 9th of September, but I have a signed letter from my employer stating the position, the salary, etc. Please let me know!
