  1. It's been a while since I posted here . . . years I think. But I am putting together my application for citizenship (11 months after my three year anniversary . . . I know, I know) and I have a quick question.

In 2008 I got a ticket for a traffic violation (driving w/out a license . . . it was before I was a permanent resident). I was due in court, and I had an attorney on the case. She showed up, the officer didn't, so they dismissed the case. She didn't provide me any paperwork, but simply said the case was dismissed. I know I have to put it on the application, but will I be asked for any paperwork about it during the interview? I want to be as prepared as possible, so if I am asked for anything, I'd like to have it for the IO.

    Thanks for the help guys!

  2. I got my green card in the mail today! Totally unexpected since I have been checking online and my status had not change. I checked this morning after I opened the envelop with my green card and it said that it was delivered on june 12. Awesome! So yeah I got it now for 10 years! But I'll start the citizenship process in two.

I also graduate from UC Davis today! Wohoooo so far its an awesome day! I hope everyone gets theirs soon!

  3. Congrats to the one person that got approved! Lol I was concerned because I sent my paperwork on January 15, 2015. I got my green card extended for one year, but after that I did not hear from USCIS ever again. I saw that for others in CA it only took a couple of months, so I was concerned that it was taking a while. However, I see that for most January filers it is taking as long as mine, so now I am not as concerned.

By the way, I thought I gave my information in an earlier post, but I did not see it on the list.

The receipt date is 1/15/2015, and I did my biometrics on 2/20/2015. I am filing in Davis, CA.

  4. Actually I called and they gave me good advice on what to do! Which is to have a friend check my mail while I am gone, that way he can open any USCIS letters and tell me if my interview would fall within the period I am out of the country. If it does, I can call and reschedule. I had not thought of that. So in a way they did help.

  5. Hi everyone!

A while back I got a conditional green card, and in January I filed to get the conditions removed. I received my NOA extending my visa and on February 20, 2015 I went to get my biometrics done. Have not heard from USCIS since.

On June 21st I'll be leaving to Europe for one month. I am afraid that while I am gone I will receive a letter with my interview time, and even worst that the interview might be schedule while I am out of the country! So I wouldn't see the notice of interview and miss it!

I plan on calling USCIS tomorrow morning to see what can be done. But what advice do you guys have? Anyone in the same shoes? I am filing In Davis, CA which is about 20 minutes from Sacramento. The letter I got back form USCIS says Laguna Niguel.

Any advice would help. Thank you everyone!

  6. My green card expires on March 6, 2015, which means the 90 days to apply for the removal of conditions begin on December 7, 2014. I've been told that upon applying I will receive a letter stating that my conditional status has been extended until the decision to remove my conditions is made. I've also been told that there might be an interview.

My wife and I want to travel through Europe from June 22nd until about July 23rd. However, I do not know how long the process to remove the conditions is. I am afraid that we will buy tickets and book tours for these dates, and then will end up receiving a notice to appear for an interview around the same time.

Would you guys recommend that I postpone my trip and wait until the removal of conditions has gone through to visit Europe?

Lastly, if I do decide to visit Europe, would the letter I will receive extending my green card be enough to return to the states once the trip is over?

Thank you very much for your help guys!

P.S.: I hope I did the math right and that December 7th is in fact the day when the 90 day period begins. If someone can confirm I did the math right I'd really appreciate it =P

  7. Also, when it says 90 days before your GC expires, did you just count three months? Or did you only count days without holidays and all that good stuff? So for example my green card expires 3/6/15, does that mean I should send the paperwork 12/6/14?

Last question, was there an interview or is there anything you think I should know about the process? I quickly reviewed the form you told me. There's no pics or any of that stuff this time around?

  8. Hey guys,

So last march I got my conditional permanent residency after my wife and I applied, she is a U.S. citizen. I was told that two years after, so in March 2015, I'd have to re-apply so I can remove the conditions and become a permanent resident. I was looking on this site for the paperwork I need to file, deadlines, and stuff like that but couldn't find anything. I was wondering if someone could hook it up with a link please.

Also, this might be a stupid question, but with a conditional permanent green card, I can leave the country, right? We are planning a trip to South America and maybe Europe, so I just want to make sure I can leave and come back in.

    Thanks y'all!!!!!

  9. Hey guys,

So I AOS thanks to my wife who is a USC, I also had a joint sponsor. I was granted a permanent conditional gc.

My wife's contract is up in May, and we are moving after that so for about 3 to 4 months she'll be unemployed. We are thinking of applying for unemployment so we have some sort of income. Will this be detrimental to my status since she is my sponsor? Or a roadblock when I attempt to remove the conditions in a couple of years?

    Thanks for your help!
