I would express to the consular office that you really wanted the kids there for Christmas and if there was any way to expedite the visa. They are usually empathetic and their job really is to reunite families so I think asking definitely wont hurt.

SweetieOne, what time is your husbands blue slip interview? I thought it was today?
-
Guys, my husbands visa was approved on Tuesday and I couldn't be more ecstatic!! We have waited...seems like forever for this moment! My husband's interview was at 8am and I was not there for the interview because I had final exams this week that could not be rescheduled. He was asked about five questions...How did we meet? When did we start dating? When did we get engaged? When did we get married? What was my job? What did my job entail?(describe what I do). Then he asked my husband if he had any correspondence, which my husband then showed him letters and cards I had sent and phone bills and that was it, and he was approved!I had already sent a bunch of evidence with the original petition (I-130) so I think that helped a lot. He called me at 11:19am to give me the good news, so he was there just a little over 3hours. The consular officer said the visa would be ready in 5 working days and we opted to pick it up from DHL opposed to it being delivered because I don't trust any mailing system in Jamaica...things always gets lost.I hope it is indeed ready for pick up in 5 days so my husband and I will be together for our 1st Christmas in the U.S. God bless you all in your journey and I know how all of y'all feel, Ive been there and that sacred union of marriage that you entered is well worth the hassle and wait. One Love!!

I'm sorry I never got around to posting our embassy review but I wanted to give some pointers that helped me along the way. You will find that the interview is the easiest part if you have all your docs and evidence the hardest is waiting for your honey to come out with a smile. I waited 5 hours including the hour we were there ahead of time. Shawn was interviewed by the white young guy who sware him in and only asked him to write both our names on a sheet of paper. He asked for evidence and was blown away by the amount of phone calls,(we spoke every single day, several time a day) He asked who put all the evendence together. Shawn responded, " My fiancee'" Interviewer said, "This is very good" after reviewing our album he paused at the picture of the tattoo of my name on Shawn's back, he says, "who is that?", Shawn reponded, "me" and that was it no questions, He was directed to DHL with an approval. I think we answered every possible question with all the evidence presented. Anyway if you are waiting for DHL and your honey before you return to the states, here are some things that helped me.
1. We had the visa delivered to the dhl station nearest to the airport we were leaving from. ( It takes more time for them to deliver to an address)
2. On the 5th business day I emailed the embassy for a status of the visa around 9am they sent it out at 1pm and it arrived at DHL by 3pm. We made our reservation for our flight at 3:15pm that day and left the very next day.
I spent 7 days in JA flew down the day before the appointment waited the standard 5 business day and we were on a flight back home 6days from his appointment date.
Best of Luck to everyone
Thanks for sharing!
Did you buy the airline ticket before you recieved the visa in hand? My husband just got approved and they said the visa would be at DHL in 5 working days but in case it isn't what did you say in your email that got them to send it out that very day? I desperately want my hubby here for Christmas:) Congratulations again!!!

Guys, How did you all file your taxes? I tried to file married but with my husband having no social security number or ITIN, I couldn't so my tax accountant advised me to ammend my taxes when my husband gets here. Do you think that would be a problem at the interview? Again I have read mixed results on this

In Jamaica you are not allowed to go into the interview with the spouse, unless for some reason you are required to by the US Embassy. You will sit outside and wait while your spouse is going through the process. If you have everything in line, your spouse should be fine. They never asked my husband if I was there or not. That doesn't mean they won;t ask your spouse. I am just saying if you can go, but if you can't it will be ok. I personally have never heard, read or seen a denial for the spouse not being there for the interview.
Good Luck
Thanks SweetieOne!The majority of the cases I read the beneficiary did go to the interview alone and its just a bad time for me to travel right now, Im in school and all my final exams are next week. I'm sure you know how I feel though, you want to do everything you can to ensure a successful interview and I would hate not to go and they request for my presence or anything like that but I will leave it in God's hands. I read your journey as well, I hope your husband gets what they need so he can get approved
Believe the reviews, and ignore anyone who's dealing with another consulate or embassy who tells you "not to worry -- no need for you to attend" or "it's OK if you don't attend." In many instances, that's perhaps the most irresponsible and genuinely perilous advice that anyone could ever provide on VisaJourney.
Also, people confuse "being allowed in the interview with the beneficiary" with "being on the consular premises during the interview." When the beneficiary hands your U.S. passport to the consul to show that you're on the premises, it could turn a borderline interview into a positive one or turn a sure refusal into a fighting chance.
Open your eyes and ears, please.
Thank you TBoneTX, I definitely know being there cant hurt.

if it's ur husband. interview. in Kingston u can go but u are not allowed. inside. u have to sit out in the court yard till his interview is over.
Thanks for your reply! I did read that I would have to sit in the courtyard. I prepared a great package for my husband so they really should not be any issues. Keeping my fingers crossed

Do I have to go to my husbands interiew? The instructions on the NVC website says that the petitioner is not required to be there but some of the reviews said that the CO asked them to come back with the petitioner.

This means that the visas were approved and were shipped. Did you opt to pick them up or to be delivered? I hope you chose to pick it up because it takes longer to be delivered. It took three days from the day of my husbands appointment to reach dhl where the tracking status read; "awaiting collection by recipient as requested" and once he picked it up it read "delivered-signd for by:...." Be ready to buy palne tickets! Merry Christmas!!
