Husband and I are currently on holiday in Scotland, but I just got an email from USCIS saying the new card is in production and I had to share
What a surprise! We hadn't received any updates as of the 14th, which is when we started our trip in England, so I guess we probably have an approval letter waiting in the held mail with USPS. Glad to have got by without an RFE! We'll tackle the rest of the N400 when we're back in the states (and I'll officially update my info on here, too)

BOS! I thought for sure you were already done. I'm sorry to hear you're still waiting. Ugh. USCIS is the worst.
Have you filed N400 yet? Or do you even plan on doing so?
----
Husband went to infopass this morning and lady said his card is "in production" but when I checked online it still has same ole " we received your case..." I have received no emails/texts/status change/etc. Only the letter.
I'm getting a wee bit anxious and paying more attention to the mailbox than usual, but trying not to think about it much. I did start the N400 for my husband ages ago but there's info required around address and employment history that I just don't have access to, so it's in his hands now and awaiting completion. Digging up all that stuff is stressful! We were eligible to file beginning of April and right now I'm figuring the paperwork will go out in June. What about you?

OOOH, Bos, I saw your name in my notification list, and I was hoping for good news from you. Crossing fingers that the magic letter will come soon...

Aw, thanks Sukie! I was glad to see you made it through, even if the card itself is taking its time. I hope the rest of the year goes well for you culminating in smooth sailing through the N400!

Just checking in as part of the "still waiting" crowd. We're now at the 13 month mark, so I'm hoping we may get news in May. Letter validity expires at the beginning of July so we'll be looking for an infopass appt to get a stamp soon if there's no word.

huh...didn't know you could apply 90 days before 3yrs of GC. If you're applying right now, do you need to have filed your 2016 taxes first?
9 hours ago, Private One said:You don't have to but it may help speedup the process.
I feel like if you file for naturalization beyond April 15 there's a good chance they'll require 2016 taxes. At least, I remember this happening back with the I-130 filings - people who could conceivably have their tax returns done but hadn't included them with their filing were later RFE'd for it. I don't want to take the chance, given how long and crappy the process already is. I'm going to file 2016 taxes the minute the last of my paperwork comes in so that our online tax return transcripts should be available around the time we're eligible to file the N-400 (beginning of April).
-
So, how many of you (and VSCers in particular, since we're in purgatory for a while yet) are already plotting for their N-400? We're eligible as of April 3 and my attention is turning in that direction.

Confession: I haven't looked up the status of ROC this entire time because I filed with VSC and I'm certain nothing will move for another 3-4 months. I'm not even sure what the website is of which number to use to look it up.
Yeah, right there with you. I'm not expecting anything for months more and haven't bothered checking case status once. As the time comes closer you can use the number from the biometrics appt letter on the USCIS My Case Status page.
-
I forgot who originally created the April Google Doc. It is extremely useful to keep track of the progress of April applicants. Somehow, on the VSC page the formula for % approved cell has been corrupted. Please fix it.
Fixed!
Correct. CSC is at 6 months and VSC is processing October 12, 2015 (12 months +) according to the USCIS website.
66% of March filers have been approved until yesterday.
Does that mean that the April CSC filers can put in a Service Request (some of us are waiting for almost 7 months)?
VSC processing times are way outdated: Field Office Processing Dates for Vermont Service Center as of: August 31, 2016. It's driving me crazy they haven't refreshed this. Theoretically if they were processing October in August they might be up to December or so now, but I'm not holding out any hope.

Hey all, just thought I'd describe our recent international travel experience with my husband's green card extension letter. We weren't sure how it would go, whether we'd have to explain to the agent or if he'd know the process/situation already, and we were a little nervous about getting hassled.
But, good news! It could not have been easier. By Logan Airport standards it was particularly stunning to have such a streamlined experience. We couldn't check in for the return flight online because of the documentation problem, so we saw an agent at the airport (Keflavik, Iceland). She didn't seen familiar with the letter situation but took it in stride once she figured out what was going on. After landing we had to skip through the automated machines that take your photo and prints and again went right to an agent. He knew exactly what our situation was and was totally unfazed - he even talked about how bad the machines are and how he can do the job much more quickly. He sent us right through with no questioning whatsoever, and that was that! Major relief for us and very reassuring for future travel while we wait on the new card.
TL;DR happy traveling to my fellow filers, especially those of us abandoned in the VSC wasteland.
-
I did my biometrics on April 29th - Still nothing yet... I have another friend who also did his biometric in Mid march - he is still waiting for interview date
Honestly, you probably shouldn't expect anything else to happen until next year. CSC is processing October '15 and VSC is processing June '15. We all have a long wait ahead.
-
Oh, no! I'm having mine done in Boston on Monday - also at 11! I'll keep that in mind. That sucks. When I first went there 2 years ago it was fine, I think.
Does anybody know which month's filers have finally gotten an interview/10-year GC? Just trying to estimate how long it will be for me!
Good luck! Hope it's quick and easy for you. My husband's appointment in Boston took about an hour start to finish, and he was just impressed that the USCIS employees weren't rude for once

I added a couple more tidbits to the sheet, including a couple based on the processing time info here on VJ, so take that with a grain of salt

Now that I see there are standalone CSC and VSC tabs and a separate Combined tab, the entries are not exactly matching. I do not know enough about Google docs to fix the problem. Can you please take a look?
I cross checked the individual tabs against the combined one, made sure all entries were present, then removed the combined tab. Everyone can now look at their separate data set for CSC and VSC. I also thought it would be interesting to see how many people end up with RFEs or interviews, and added a column to each tab to record that info.
I'm so glad to see things are picking up with biometrics appointments!
-
My husband had his biometrics appointment this past Monday - on the same day his parents arrived from the UK for a visit! Talk about stressful. He sat in a waiting room and filled out forms, was called to have his paperwork taken, then was sent on to a second waiting room to hang out until it was his turn for biometrics. Each fingerprint was taken individually and he said it took them about 10 minutes to get them all right. Apparently it took about an hour all told. So that's done, and now there's literally nothing to do but wait!
On a separate note, I see there's a VSC tab added to the spreadsheet. Is the main tab still being updated for Vermont filers? If not, I'll cross check the entries between the two lists and then move the formulas over to the dedicated VSC tab so that page one is CSC alone.
-
This is so random, but for anyone involved in the I-130 letter campaigns back in 2013, do you remember this joker? He was one of our addressees and my blood still boils when I see his name in the news! http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/279673-gop-rep-spotted-hopping-fence-outside-rnc-headquarters
-
Can you update my NOA1 date as 05/03/2016? thanks.
I tried doing it but it wouldnt let me.
Done!
I've changed the sheet to allow edit access to everyone since there's already interest: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=post§ion=post&do=reply_post&f=86&t=591157&qpid=8132584
Any other feedback, let me know... I'm kind of a data nut and I'm happy to add in metrics, graphics, etc. if people are interested. Examples: average time between NOA and biometrics appointment, percentage of people with NOA, percentage of people with biometrics scheduled, etc. We can have that info visualized for both VSC and CSC. I know I may be going way overboard because I enjoy spreadsheets
but I'm open to incorporating any other elements the group finds useful.
I know there was a suggestion a week or two ago that we add some data points that aren't currently being captured, like date of check cashing. That's easy enough to add in if people want to supply their information!
-
This looks good, BOS. My only suggestion is to put Vermont's data underneath California's data so us VSCers don't have to scroll left and right. Up and down is easier for these old eyes....
Sukie in NY
Thanks Sukie! I do agree, my only concern was that people may struggle more to add new entries to the CSC list without disrupting the VSC entries, since not everyone knows how to add rows. Having side by side lists means anyone new who comes along can just pop their info at the bottom of the correct list without disturbing any formatting. But thinking about it, we probably won't get a huge influx of new filers, and it'll be easier to keep it in chronological order with sequential lists. I'll fix it up
-
This, by the way, is the worst possible way to keep an updated, shared record. It's error prone, badly formatted, impossible to maintain and update. There are many ways to have shared access to a document, like a google docs spreadsheet, or even the wiki which is already built in to VJ.
I've been thinking this, too, and remembering the shared spreadsheets we kept during the I-130 nightmare 3 years ago. There were some problems with people not knowing how to update those properly, breaking formulas used for tables etc., but I'm willing to give it a shot personally -- and we could always have multiple "moderators" for the shared sheets as we did back in those days.
I threw everyone's info into a Google Sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12Mb-ALcbwQbYafLj4vFaEMjSGD-wfjtrycs3ul8QlUo/edit?usp=sharing. I can make it look a lot nicer and add some formulas as well, but what do people think? Would this be easier to manage than the VJ forum version?

GUYS! VSC is definitely awake!
Just received our biometrics notice today, appointment is May 16. Not what I would call ample notice but at least they're active again! Hoping for lots of movement and NOA announcements here this week

anyone who filed at Vermont have updates (check cashed, NOA, biometrics etc). Still waiting and no sign. I don't know why even though sent on 4/6, they didn't receive mine till 4/16 (per return receipt from postal svc). Starting to get worried now.
We had our check cashed within a week and received NOA the day after that... still anxiously awaiting the biometrics appointment, though. It's like VSC just sort of stopped dead in its tracks two weeks ago.

Our check was cashed yesterday and NOA1 came today, dated April 7. Receipt number not working online yet! Formatting on the table fixed below

Thank you so much!
Things are getting quiet around here, seems like most people have got through. I sure hope so!
I had another email notification today that the card was shipped on May 25, so hopefully we'll have it next week. Interestingly, although I was signed up for both text and email alerts, only email alerts ever came through. Also, the USCIS website captured status updates for card production and shipment, but not the approval itself - we only have that documented via postal letter.
