  1. Umm...yes I am answering questions based on my experience...smile.png

I think you are reading from an old source...because again....as what the above response says....you DO NOT have to fill in DS 160, in the USEM website if you scroll all the way down through the instructions...you will find out that for K visa applicants the DS 156 takes the place of DS 160 form...and again no photo upload needed smile.png, the pre-consul filipino interviewer on the window will ask for the passport photo wink.png

    In my experience....

we got email confirmation of NOA 2 Jan 15, my USEM Instruction letter was dated Feb 15, I received that letter by Air21 about i think Feb 22

So i payed visa fee at BPI

then filled in DS 156 form and upon completion the system generated a barcode #

After that i called up US embassy to schedule for an interview (thank GOD they told me end of February and so on is free so I picked April 8 , I chose this to give me enough time to fully prepare mind, body and docs wink.png ) . Upon calling the USEM personnel asked for my name of course, and then asked me if i already filled in DS 156 and i said yes, so the guy asked for the generated barcode #, passport no., dob, case number, bpi receipt no., and where do i want my visa sent

After securing an interview schedule i then proceeded to plan for my medical exam which should be at least 7 days before the interview and at least 7 days after the LMP (as advised)

My medical exam was March 25

    Again interview was April 8

I received my passport w/ visa and visa packet April 16 dancin5hr.gif

If everything goes well in your interview...you'll have no problem flying on June 22...but...booking tickets prior to passing your interview is discouraged by the USEM.

Anyway since it has been already booked, just armor yourself well...

Really....just read, study, explore USEM website...combine it with visajourney...and follow instructions well...you'd go through smoothly...that's what i did wink.png

of course witha lot of prayers wink.png

Hi, do you really need to have your Instruction Letter from USEM to get your medical exam.

  2. Ummm...i dont get your post above...seems like you're answering your own question...hehe

Umm..what visa are you processing? K1 visa isnt it?

To have reference of what im talking about do more reading on USEM website..its ALL there... smile.png

Then you will see that a K1 visa applicant will instead fill in the DS 156 instead of the DS 160, no uploaded photo needed, you will bring the visa photo on the interview...

Actually, when you schedule your interview online, you will ask first to fill out a Visa Application (DS-160, You need a Photo to upload). Iba pa yung DS-156, you have to bring that on your interview. Yes, I'm K1 Visa Applicant for my Fiancee. I have filled out the registration form for the Medical Exam, and you mentioned that you can fill out a Patient Data Sheet online and that's what I'm trying to find in SLEC website. How long before you actually received your Visa after you got approved? I'm just woriied because my Fiancee and I have a ticket already. We planned to fly together to U.S. and our interview is on June 10 and our ticket to fly to U.S. is on June 22. Do you think we have enough time? I just want to ask you based on your own experience. Thanks.

  3. thanks a lot sis. by the way im a girl, smile.png ( the beneficiary) .. my profile name is a mix of my bf's name smile.png g00d thing you mentioned about the menstrual cycle, it just came today also haha, maybe due to stress or excitement:)so my medical exam should be 7 days after the LAST day of my menstrual period and atleast 7 days before my interview date right?is it also okay to set the interview date online? im afraid they will give me june schedule if i call through the embassy number. keeping my fingers crossed if everything will be okay , i am planning to have my interview date on the last week of the month of may . my soon to be hubby's birthday is on june 15:) im hoping we can finish everything and be with each other on his day:)do you think the time is too short to for me to finish everything by june 15.

thanks a lot for the info:) i appreciate it:)

You can schedule your interview online after you fill out the DS-160 form. Be sure you have a scanned passport photo before you do it because you will be asked to upload it. You will also be ask to create a profile to their (US Embassy) website.

  4. hi jepongsky...as for me...yung NOA 2 was exactly 1 month from my official letter from USEM. Yes i think you can go ahead and pay the visa fee na to BPI..it doesnt matter coz your visa fee has a 1year validity. Dont forget to bring your passport when you pay for your visa fee, the teller asked for it, but i forgot it...she said 'ok any id will do, you're lucky i know you' yeah the teller was an acquaintance biggrin.png

anyway...by knowing your NOA 2 date you pretty much have an idea when your USEM letter might arrive, i understand it wont be the same for each applicant but at least you have a guage...anyway it is not the interview that's dependent on the medical exam..it is the medical exam date that is dependent on your interview date...you must have your medical exam at least 7 days before your interview date, and i guess you're a guy so you wont have to worry bout all that 7 days after last day of mestrual period thing... wink.png

Schedule your interview first, then plan for your medical exam date

    Here's what i can suggest:

    1. pay your visa fee

    2. fill in DS 156 online

    3. call the embassy and make an interview appointment, say example...pick one that's 2 months from now (if they say you have to wait for the official instruction letter first then ok call again when you have it) , (or if you get a schedule with just the case number then great, then you can proceed with planning for your medical exam date, and of course 7 days prior to your chosen interview date you have the letter already )

    4. accomplish other requirements while on the wait

    hope that helped

Hi, you mention on your recount of your medical exam that you need to fill out Patient Information. Do you have the link to fill this information ahead of time. Also does the NOA2 is enough to present to them for your medical exam or you have to wait for the Embassy Letter. Thanks.

  5. Visa payments are valid for a year but aren't you supposed to act on your case 4 months after NVC? Correct me if I'm wrong though. Our NOA2 said that we need to act on ours before August and we got approved April.

Yes, there's an expiration date on the NOA2. The only thing I'm worried about is the timing of the interview and when will NVC send the physical documents to US embassy in Manila. But like what you said, it's better to be pro-active about this otherwise you'll be waiting forever.

  6. You can wait for that but most people here in VJ don't wait for the document because that usually comes in a month or so and scheduling your interview would also come around a month after you apply so that's 2 months total. It is your choice though as it is advised only by the USEM and because as you said it is still on the process. The wait isn't that difficult. Let's just hope medical and other things go smoothly and without delays after this smile.png

We just giving it a few more days before we will make our payment and schedule the interview. The Visa payment is valid for a year anyway.

  7. That's kind of weird because if you think about it like anyone with proper logic can figure out that the reason why they can assign a Manila case number is because the case is ready to be forwarded to Manila. They should have not released the case number to you until the process over. However, given the current situation that she is telling you not to pay then don't pay but do call them again the chance you get and ask them if you can pay and schedule the interview. Hope things go well smile.png

I called the US emabassy in manila and they told me that it's okay to make the payment but they don't advice it until they received the physical document from NVC.

  8. Nope! That's the beauty in it. You don't have to wait. You can schedule the interview and take the medical preferably a week or 10 days before your scheduled interview :)

Since you already have the MNL case number it means that they have forwarded your case to the Manila embassy. They will just be waiting for your interview scheduling ^_^ You have to schedule the interview and pay before you can go to medical ok? :) Medical does not need scheduling and is a first come first serve basis. However, you can fill out the info sheet found on the SLEC site before going to the medical to facilitate your medical. I have a link posted above. ^_^

Ok...I just called NVC and asked them since I have a Manila Case Number, is it okay for my Fiancee to pay for the Visa Application Fee in Manila and she said that she cannot because the case still with them and it still need some additional processing.

  9. Nope! That's the beauty in it. You don't have to wait. You can schedule the interview and take the medical preferably a week or 10 days before your scheduled interview :)

Then how come when I called NVC and asked them if they have forwarded my case to manila embassy they told me that it still in administrative processing (don't know what that mean). I just hope that they have a centralized system.

  10. CONGRATS! I am still to call NVC for my MNL Case number :P I'm posting several links below as what was given to me by other VJ members. Hope this helps :)

First get your MNL case number from NVC

    Schedule your interview

Send all the documents like the I-134 Affidavit of support to your fiance/e and a copy of your I129F including the original receipts and documents. Don't forget the new letter of intent. Here is my checklist on what you can send to your fiance/e in PI granted you were not married before if so please refer to the VJ guides:

    1. A copy of the entire I-129f package.

    2. All originals of the documentary proof that has been submitted for the I-129F.

    3. New letter of intent to marry. Signed and dated.

    4. I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Signed.

Two to three of your most recent pay stubs

Signed letter from your employer listing you job title, start date, your salary, and the status (full-time, part time, permanent, temporary) of your position

    other evidence:

Banking information and other assets as required by the I-134

    5. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail.

    6. Proof of ongoing relationship.

LONG but very comprehensive version of what you can do while waiting for your packet to arrive in USEM (Manila Embassy)

    Manila Embassy:

NOW THAT YOU HAVE YOUR MNL # (don't need to wait for the letter from the embassy )

(NOTE: When getting NSO certified copies of your Birth Certificate get a few extra copies for bringing to the States with you. You will need them from time to time)

    http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3023.html

Once you have your MNL # :

You can pay your nonimmigrant visa application fee with cash or debit card at any Bank of Philippine Islands. Before going to the bank, you must print the applicable U.S. visa application deposit slip available below on this page. Take the printed deposit slip with you to pay your fee. If you print a deposit slip in advance of the day in which you plan to make your payment, please take note of the expiration date on the deposit slip. If the expiration date passes prior to using the slip to make your payment, simply return to this site and re-click the appropriate link below to generate a new deposit slip. Bank agents will NOT accept payments based on expired deposit slips. Upon receiving of your payment, bank will issue you a receipt. Save your receipt. It cannot be replaced if it is lost. You will not be able to schedule an appointment without your receipt number.

    http://ustraveldocs....paymentinfo.asp

Select the deposit slip that matches your visa application fee from the list below. Values are shown in U.S. dollars and native currency. This page has more information about the different visa application fees.

    http://ustraveldocs....visafeeinfo.asp

For K-1 the fee is $240

After you have paid the visa application fee, keep the BANK receipt for your records. It cannot be replaced if it is lost. You will not be able to schedule an appointment without your receipt number.

If you have an account with either Bank of Philippine Islands (BPI) or BancNet you may choose to pay your visa application fee online using their online bill pay services. Click on either of the links below if you are a BPI or BancNet customer and wish to make an online payment.

If you are paying for more than one applicant, please DO NOT make a lump sum payment for all the applicants. A UID/receipt number is required for each visa application fee payment for EACH applicant for scheduling an appointment. After you have paid the visa application fee, please keep the fee receipt for your records.

    Receipt Format

Note: If you have a Bank of Philippine Islands receipt, your fee receipt number should be your passport number. If something other than your passport number appears in the circled area on the graphic, use that information as your receipt number. This receipt number verifies your payment and allows you to schedule your visa interview

When scheduling online with the embassy you need to use the receipt number as shown on the payment receipt from BPI.

Priorty Date; this is the date the NOA 1 was received. You will not find the priority date entered on the NOA2, you will only find it on the email/letter from NVC when you get your MNL #.

Make sure to print three copies of the interview confirmation letter/page (if you scheduled online) as you will need two for St. Luke's and the other for the embassy.

Passport and copies of bio page of passport, visa page from passport, pictures together. The "other documents" clause can be ANYTHING with those nit-wits at CFO.

Thanks for this information you have posted here, it's really helpful.

I have a question though, let's say you got the MNL# from NVC. Do we have to wait for the NVC forwarded our case to US Embassy in Manila before we can pay for the Visa Application, schedule for interview and take the medical exam.

  11. So after your I129F got approved and while waiting for your case to be forwarded to your Fiance(e) country of residense, can we fill out those forms needed for the interview. I believe each US Emabassy they have their own steps on how to complete a certain case and that step can be downloaded in their web site.

    Philippines: http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3224.html

I'd like to work with my Fiancee pro-actively to fill out those forms ahead of time and print it here before sending it to her in the Philippines. All she needs to do is sign the form.

If there's anyone in this forum have done that before please state the steps you did.

Thank you and God Bless All.

  12. My interview date was yesterday (thursday)April 18,2013.

I woke up very early (3:30am lol im so excited)

My appointment time is 7:30am..I'm from Paranaque City not too far from Manila Philippines Embassy of the United State of America (20-30 minutes away from my house)

i got there almost 6 am and the line was NOT too long for K1 visa (given same priority as Immigrant Visa.

At the pre-entrance,1 lady and 1 guy in blue polo shirt will look for your appointment letter,passport,2 copies of form ds-156,2 copies of form ds-156k and 1 copy of form ds-157..and if it is complete then they are going to put barcode sticker at the back of your passport then proceed to entrance and security check where your bag will be checked and body scan so MAKE SURE DON'T BRING ANY ELECTRONICS or else you are NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER    after security check proceed to the counter which gives the priority number (mine is 6144)

the lady will get the ds forms and appointment letter then check your passport and will return it with a plastic with ziplock.Proceed at the back of that counter and i was surprised (LOTS OF PEOPLE)sitting and waiting for their numbers to be called by the lady wearing blue polo shirt so I looked for available chair.

My bad i was sitting with tourist applicants I didn't know that K visas applicant are in last row and watching something  i didn't saw any signage :bonk: (duh!! there's a signage but its very very small for you too see)FUNNY?yes its funny!i didn't know if my number flashed or what!

so i went there ..I was watching queuing board number for almost 1 hour!then i saw my number (6144 window 43)..Proceed to door number 2 (that's for immigrant and K visas applicants)inside you will have the second security check where your bag will be checked again and you will go through body scan again.

When i was inside i went to window 43 (first window inside of the building ) i smiled and said "good morning" to american guy.He asked for my name and birthdate and instructed me for digital finger scan then he told me to take a seat and wait for my number to be flashed again  ..after 20 minutes I saw my number again (1644 window 53)The nice Filipino lady just asked for my birth Certificate,BPI receipt for visa fee,CENOMAR(Certificate of No Marriage),NBI Clearance but because my birth certificate was late registered she asked for my original Baptismal Certificate followed by my fiance's 2012 ITR,W2 and Affidavit of Support Form 134 and last but not the least my passport inside of the plastic with ziplock then she made her preliminary interview and these were her questions:

    1. Name of my fiance

    2. How did we meet and when was this

    3. What is my age and What is my fiance's age

Then she told me to take a seat again and wait for my number on the monitor  and after 15-20 minutes I saw it again (6144 window 67)

It was window 67 and she was a middle aged nice american with a curly hair

She first made me swear that i was telling the truth then "Good morning"

and she started his interview and her questions were..

    1. Name of my fiance

    2. How did we meet and When was this

    3.How many sisters and brothers

4.Who is my fiance's best friend

followed by "ok CONGRATULATIONS AND APPROVED please take your sit and wait for your name to be called "

i want to shout but i just smiled and said "THANK YOU MAM" and she answered me "YOU'RE WELCOME"

    :dance::dancing:

    last window (2go)

Filipino guy in window 73 said "CONGRATS" all you have to do is wait for your visa so i smiled and said ''thank you''

    Goodluck to all..

    WOHOOOOO!GOD IS GOOD!!!

May I ask if it's okay, after you received the packet that the US Embassy sent you did you pay for the K1 Visa and schedule your interview then went to your medical exam. Does it take longer to schedule your interview.

I just want to know the current process right now so that I can give my Fiancee a heads up.

    Thanks.

  13. Hi folks, today I submitted a request to my Congressperson in order to get assistance with the USCIS over my pending petition for my fiancee's K-1 visa. If you plan on doing the same, but don't have the time to write a letter, I am going to post mine as a sample. Feel free to edit, add or take away whatever you wish. Hope this is helpful.

    Dear Representative ********:

I am a registered voter and a resident in your district and I am writing to ask for your help in contacting a federal agency, specifically the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). I have filed a petition for a K-1 visa on behalf of my fiancée, a foreign national, so that we may get married here in the United States. The petition, a copy of the receipt of which is attached to this letter, has been pending since ********* 2012.

The USCIS states that its goal is to process visa petitions within five (5) months of receipt. The application has been pending for more than that time. Once cases are outside processing times, the ordinary recourse for a person such as myself is to contact the USCIS Ombudsman. The “processing times” are posted on the agency’s website, which indicates that the processing times charts are updated “on or about the 15th of each month”. I am enclosing a copy the relevant processing time chart which indicates that it has not been updated since February 5, 2013. You will note that the last posting contained data for petitions and applications only up to December 31, 2012.

Because the USCIS has not updated its charts with data for the entire calendar year, the “processing times” have not moved. As a result, citizens such as myself cannot obtain assistance from the USCIS Ombudsman because by violating its own deadlines and procedures, the USCIS artificially makes it appear as though my petition is not outside normal time frames for processing these applications.

I have attempted to call the USCIS customer number and the officers have refused to provide any additional information besides what is on the website. They have been extremely rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. I understand that with President Obama’s Executive Orders authorizing the DACA program and the Provisional Waiver program, the USCIS has been flooded with applications by undocumented workers who have applied for this benefit. However, those applications have brought in extra revenue to the agency which should have been allocated to hire more officers to process the workload. As an agency that is almost entirely self funded through fees, the USCIS is not affected by the nation’s current fiscal issues, be it the sequester or other budget cuts.

While I respect and support the President’s initiatives for undocumented workers, it is outrageous that the USCIS is processing those applications, for people who are already in the United States, ahead of the applications submitted by United States citizens who are trying to legally bring their future spouses to the United States, and must necessarily remain separated from their loved ones for several months at a time during their pendency.

The K-1 fiancée visa was always intended to be an expeditious petition, and it appears that the USCIS has put them in the low priority category. In order to mitigate the strain that the long separation is placing on our relationship with my fiancée, I have had to take extensive time off work in order to travel abroad (my fiancée is not eligible to visit me in the US while the fiancée visa is pending) and as a result have incurred considerable expenses in traveling and time off work, not to mention that it has also taken a considerable emotional toll.

I would kindly ask that your office contact the USCIS and inquire what the status is on my petition and insist that it be expedited. Citizens who are attempting to bring their spouses to the United States within the confines of the law deserve better treatment from our government. Thank you very much for your time and your anticipated assistance.

Thank you, I am also thinking of writing my congressman about this.

  14. Hey everyone! We've made it to the 5 month mark! not that it's worth much anymore with the way processing times are going, but at least we're getting closer! Congrats to us all :)

I REALLY hope CSC starts picking up the slack!! It makes it really difficult for my fiance and I to plan our lives when we don't know when the visa will go through!! We are facing a paradoxical situation right now: I (USC) am currently interviewing for teaching jobs for the upcoming school year but I'm reluctant to sign a year-long contract without knowing when the visa will go through! On one hand, if I accept the job and for some reason the visa doesn't go through, I'll have to back out of a signed contract and move abroad on short notice. On the other hand, if I put off signing a contract to wait for the visa to go through then I'll likely be without a job which defeats the purpose of us living in the U.S. We've decided to stay confident about the process and just wait it out.. there's no reason that we should be denied *(knock on wood)*. but it's hard not to imagine the worse case scenario.

It's really frustrating to have our future PENNDIINNNG upon the ultimate decision of the government and to have no control in the matter.. I'm sure you all understand my frustration!!

Anyway, I hope these upcoming months go by in a breeze and that we will all have NOA2s & Interview dates very soon so that we can all get back to the arms of our loved ones (L)^_^

I think you have a best chance of filing an expedite, you have a compelling reason to file an expedite.

  15. Woah guys! Try to keep positive! Remember that not everyone applying for the visa is a member on visa journey, there will have been plenty of approvals that we don't know about. We've had a really good few weeks with lots of members approved and positive stories to read. Don't lose faith.

I'm pretty set on trying to do squeeze in another trip to see my fiancé...if things are tough then just do what you have to to try and better the waiting time. The time WILL pass. There's nothing we can do about the system an we can't assume to know what's going on, so why get add stress to the process getting caught up about it.

Personally, reading the posts of frustration only make me feel worse, I much prefer the messages of support from everyone going through the same process as me, and congratulating them when they hear news. So keep it positive guys! We'll get there! And we can all look forward to a summer of love in the USA :)

As much as I want to be optimistic, I can't. It's hard just to sit around and wait for them to take their time to process our petitions. This is ridiculously a long wait, we have to something about it, even a little if we join together and flood that service request then maybe they might notice that there are a lot of applicant being annoyed by this long wait.

  16. They already are almost at a dead stop. The way this is all handled is beyond frustrating. Why even have estimated times if they literally mean absolutely nothing. I was going to fly down end of March for my Fiances birthday. But I am in the "estimated" time, so we decided to hold off since I am flying down for the interview. Now it's looking like four or so months to go. Or is it? No one knows. We made a deal that if I hear nothing by end of April, I am coming down for three weeks to visit. Sick of waiting on an approval that may or may not happen tomorrow, or is it June? So stupid...

I think they just really don't care, as long as they can collect our fees which is a hard earned money. Actually, I even went to USCIS local office here in Sacramento, CA and even the representative over there told me that I-129F is just a simple form for it to take that long to process. He was also puzzled about the long wait, even though they can't do anything about our case, if we flood our local office for follow up by requesting for an infopass, we might get noticed.

  17. CSC is processing *extremely* slowly right now, and they're processing petitions from July onwards still (and their priority date is still only July 18th), so the September ones you've seen are SUPER lucky and there appears to be no logic to why they've picked up those ones ahead of July and August submissions still pending.

You could get yours this week, or it could be another 2 months+ - it's impossible to say right now.

I just hope that they are not discriminating it by what country our Fiance(e) are coming from, it's not fare for all of us.
