  1. My own experience:

Bring a copy of everything with you. They seem to have a lot of what you have already sent in, but just be on the safe side and bring everything. Including emails, chats, text messages, pictures of you 2 together. And what ever is in the letter to help you prepare for the interview - EVEN IF THEY SAY THEY SENT IT - bring a copy!!!

    Hello!

Sorry, this question probably sounds stupid but I have doubts regarding what the NVC sends to the Embassy. (doubts probably triggered by some pre interview stress :) )

What is in the file the Embassy receives from NVC? Everything from when we started the process (USCIS+NVC)?

I am asking this question because they tend to ask for the same things, such as the proof of relationship that is asked for by USCIS, by the NVC and then by the Embassy.

At first I was planning on bringing only proof of relationship we did not provide before (so everything after we started the process), but since they ask again for proof of relationship I was wondering if we had to proof our relationship from the very beginning (with pics and conversations) or if they actually check what is sent to them.

    Thanks for your help!

  2. You can go through either line together, unless the US citizen line is one of those scanny passport ones. Then you need to go with her to the visitor line if you want to stay together.

    just to everyone here:

I came thru 10/28 (scant type) at Los Angeles airport and was told I could go to the "foreigner" to stay with my wife when I do bring her over.

  3. Hi!

All of the shots are included in the price of the SL visit/physical. I wouldn't recommend getting them elsewhere because they may or may Not be accepted. My wife just went thru the physical at the end of September and she received 3 vaccines. Even though she had proof of some previous. And then she will need more once she gets to the USA as per the SL paperwork.

Enjoy the ride and may God bless!

Just trying to think of the cost aspect. She's a nurse and could get it all done cheaper in her home town.

According to the info you gave she did not have a green card at the time. Therefore she was not authorized to work. Therefore she is not allowed an SSC. She came over on a fiancé visa which is a nonimmigrant visa. This also does not allow someone to legally work in USA.

You need the green card first. Then Apply for SSN. At least this is what the SSA requires.

Why? If I remember correctly even the checklist her on VJ says first thing you do when you come here you get a SSN card in your maiden name and after marriage you go get a new one in your married name and you only need your marriage certificate and a good amount of time left on your I-94.

I didn't try it that way because I got my SSN card 4 years ago when I was here on J1 but I've seen plenty of people on here do it with no issue whatsoever.

  5. You need to request a lost card. This will get you a card and the number.

Secondly, I'm surprised you were allowed a card under the circumstances. This should not be allowed until marriage in your case.

But either way congratulations on getting her to the USA!

Yes they issued a number and supposedly sent a card out which we never got (probably got lost in the mail and it wouldn't be the first time my mailman screwed up but that is a different story) so they told us they will send a replacement but when it comes to name change not until it is in the system with the immigration so they match. My conversation with USCIS today confirmed that but USCIS also said they are surprised SS would even issue my wife one to begin with for some reason... It sounds like they want the AOS package first and then one can apply for SSN.

  6. Good day all-

My wife is going through her physical exam currently at St. Luke's in Manila. (I am not there but I will be for interview in a few weeks)

St. Luke's gave her a letter at the end of her 1st day and they are requesting 3 pictures, the confirmation of the Immigrant visa being completed, as well as some other documents even the "where to send visa".

I was not aware St.Lukes would request this.... She wasn't prepared either so she is scrambling to get all printed and pictures. She did have one picture.

Has anyone else came across this issue??

    Thanks in advance.

  7. Hello and thank you for taking your time to read and maybe answer.

    My wife has her interview this October. On the letter we received for her interview it has the items listed that are required for her to bring, and items that were not requested, and items that were sent by the NVC. My question is this;

    Financial Evidence has a "Y"

Y The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

Does she still need to bring copies of the tax documents?

  8. Hi Tia-

My wife has the same issue. You did get the proper NBI clearance for travel abroad right?? On that form my wife's NBI has her maiden name as well has husbands name.

If you were married before, divorced now (or widow) did you change your name back to your maiden name?? If you haven't been married for a year I would go and get a second NBI clearance with your previous name.

  9. It works....I've done it already and saw what maybe your package....it will be there Tues the 15th. I did it earlier also but I wanted you to figure it out so you can get excited on your own.

I don't know why you say it deletes the spaces, it doesn't for me....

    :-D

Thanks bunches!!! From the bottom of my heart!!!

It does automatically delete the spaces in me though...how weird

Sometimes your browser can screw it up. If you are using Bing, then try Internet Explorer, or Firefox, or Chrome, or Edge. If one doesn't work, try another....

Thanks! I'm using my iPad. (safari)
  10. On my case with NVC it is marked as n/a for financial information from me. I'm the petitioner. I've completed the 260 for my wife who will be immigrating to US soon.

I'm confused though because NVC is not requesting ANY documentation from me. Could this be true??? I've emailed NVC for clarification, it's been over a week but no reply. And of course if you call you cannot even leave a voicemail!!

  11. Find your congress representative from your state. And also your senate representative.

You can do this by checking your states website. Then research the persons name - on the internet and you will have a tool on their site to contact them.

I know you have kids together... And time is time. But honestly you're right on the time frame now.

Still write to the representative... It doesn't hurt. I wrote to mine in Texas and he helped me right away.

Has anyone ever written their local representative to bring attention to their case?

Who did you write to, and what was the result?

My husband has been waiting in Canada since February. My petition has been approved and we sent the DS260 August 7th. (We will be dealing with the Montreal consulate). We have zero indication on how long it will be until he can live with us again.

We have a four year old and just had a baby in April, who he has barely seen in the five months she's been alive. My kids need their father above all. This is ######, and it seems like no one knows about it. Every time I mention the situation to anyone, they are astonished of how long it is taking, let alone that he is not allowed to be here with us. Even if it doesn't speed up the process I think the testimonial would be of some value, right?
