my fiance and I are picking up her passport and visa paperwork tomorrow and flying out right in time for Christmas...
What a long long wait!
Now to the next process.

Our interview was Dec. 9th and the visa was ready at Domex in Santo Domingo Dec. 18th.
Yeah, I'm thinking it will be the 26th or 27th because of Christmas

Hello everyone,
My fiance and I just had our interview on 12/16 in Santo Domingo.
We decided we would pick up the visa at domex in Santo Domingo instead of having it mailed to her. CEAC says Issued and that the visa is in final processing.
Does anyone know what the average length of time is between Issued and ready for pick up in the Capitol?
Thanks!
-
Hey everyone,
We were approved! They didn't ask for any paperwork at all. Didn't even take the I-134! I'll have a full review later today!
Thanks for your help!!!

by the way...
We filed on Feb. 5th, 2013 and our interview is on Monday. The times are all over the place! Just save!

I thought we do not need the form DS-156 or DS-156K anymore…? Would any one clear this up?
I believe that all forms DS-156, DS-156K were substituted by the DS-160 that must be filled online.
The way I understood it was that you have to file the DS-160 instead of the DS - 156, DS- 156K unless your interview was scheduled before October 7th, 2013.
Ours was scheduled in early September so we have to fill out the forms instead of doing the DS-160.

okay! Thanks for help everyone! I'll post after the interview on monday!

So I'm assuming the word "or" there means we only need one from Puerto Plata?
Sorry I sound thick, I just don't want to mess this up.

Hello,
My fiance is trying to get her police reports together in the Dominican republic. We have a question, she lives in pop, but went to college for one year in Santiago. Do we need to get a police report for both places? If so how can we? We were told that you can only get a police report once per month and the interview is December.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Hey everyone,
Does anyone know if it's possible to get on a standby list for cancellations or anything like that for a k1 interview in Santo Domingo, DR?
Our interview is on 12/16/13 which is 4 months from when we received our NOA2. I could be there tomorrow if they'd let me.
Any thoughts?
-
Both her and I fly for free on standby, so it's easier for me to be there to help her navigate the whole process. Plus she has never flown before.
We want to get married in the United states before the new year for the tax benefits and since the interview isn't until 12/16 I'm not sure if we can get the visa mailed in time for that. Wondering if it would be easier to pick up the visa instead
-
Hello!
I have 1 question for everyone.
Do you know if it is possible to pick up your Approved k-1 visa from the Embassy 1 or 2 days after approval?
It would just be easier to fly down for the interview and fly back with my fiance instead of flying down for the interview and than back down to pick her up two weeks later.
-
Hello,
So I think we might have made a mistake and I was wondering if anyone has the answers to it.
My fiance just took $160 + $15 to Banco Popular and paid for both of the required items. She received the receipts but I just read on here that she had needs to bring the three documents, DS-156, DS - 230, and DS - 156k. She didn't bring those in when she went to pay.
Will this matter?
-
Hello,
We filed a k-1 visa and were approved on 8/21.
I just called and got the information that our interview date is scheduled for 12/16! Is there anyway to speed this up? Flying 9 days before Christmas is next to impossible for me and my job!
Thanks,
-
What number do you call for the NVC? I'm calling 603-334-0700 but it's just going straight to a busy signal!
-
Congrats! In order to prepare for your interview check out the thread in my signature below. "What to do after NOA2".
Thank you so much for the extra information! It looks like the next couple months will be a lot more busy, but it is much better than just waiting.

Hey everyone!
So I received the approval email notice while I was checking my phone one last time sitting on the Airplane to visit my Fiance!
What a crazy thing that was! To receive the email right before flying to see here was an amazing feeling!
I truly wish the best luck to everyone and want to thank you all for the encouragement and help through this part of the our journey!
Now to move on to the next step
NAO1 02/07/13
NAO2 08/16/13
God Bless

We have the same RFE.

3.)more photos of us together and friends. ( wrote date at the back and the people in the picture and also the place)
4.)photocopy of our letters to each other.
5.)photocopies of our passport
6.)a statement from friends who witnessed that they saw my fiance in person. signed and date.

a statement from my boss while I was in the Dominican who knew both of us
A statement from a good friend who was in the Dominican with us

Submit evidence that you and your fiance have met each other in person at some time during the two-year period from February 4, 2011 until February 4, 2013, the filing date of your petition. Evidence should include, but is not limited to:
1. Your own statement which must include the date, place, and circumstances of your meeting. If you submit a personal statement it must be supported by additional evidence.
2. Copies of travel documents (itineraries, tickets, hotel accommodations, etc.).
3. Photos (date and place of the photo must be handwritten on photos).
4. Letters written to each other after your meeting(S), referencing the specific date and place of your meeting(s).
5. Photocopies of your passport and/or your fiance's passport, (including biographical data pages and pages showing entry and exit stamps) showing that you have both been present in a given location at the same time.
Affidavits of friends, neighbors, or other knowledgeable associates. All affidavits must conform to the guidelines.
I have everything except for my fiance's passport because she lives in the Dominican Republic. But I have everything else! I submitted quite a bit of evidence with the application so I was surprised to receive an rfe!

Hey everyone,
I just got an RFE for specific evidence that we met in the past two years
I lived in her country for a year!
I included passport stamps, BBM messaging for two months, 3 photos of us together (dated & location hand written on it), the receipt for her engagement ring, and all the itineraries for my flights!
Any idea what I can send in to reply for the RFE?
I was thinking a letter from my boss at the company I worked at, more pictures of us together, and a letter from a friend who lived there with me?
Any thoughts would be helpful!
NVC requesting updated docs but didn't mark them as rejected
in National Visa Center (Dept of State)

Hi everyone!
My wife is currently petitioning for her parents and we are currently at the NVC stage. A lawyer in the Dominican Republic submitted all the documents but only did the english translations, not the spanish originals and english translations.
The NVC sent us messages through the website but all the documents are still in 'submitted' status instead of rejected, meaning that we can't upload the new ones they requested. Am I missing something here? We have tried calling the NVC but just get a message and then the phone hangs up.
Any ideas?
