Which box do most check on the application for reason for the passport? There is one for Immigration which makes the most sense.
It probably really doesn't matter but just want to get everything in order as I understand there is some interview to get the passport.
We just started the K1 in March so its going to be a while. I've already been to the Philippines 3 times in last 6 months to see her. Was thinking for the next visit in July we go to Bali. Its been my dream to go there. I understand people from the Philippines can travel to anywhere in SEA with only a passport; no visa needed. So she needs the passport in the short term for travel. So, short term she should check the box for travel or tourist.
Logic tells me to still check the immigration box and if asked in the passport interview, to explain she might travel to SEA with me before getting the visa. I just want to make sure I'm not raising any red flag with anyone. So wanted input from those who have been through the passport process.
I'm sure I'm over thinking this.
Thanks,
Jeff

My fiance is also from Zamboanga. Luckily shortly after we met she moved to Manila for work. There is no way I would visit Zamboanga due to the Muslim extremist. White guys are just an ATM machine for them. Its just not worth the risk. I've done enough research to be convinced not to go. Yes, some will say its OK to go but many will say don't go. I'll take getting robbed at gunpoint in Manila any day over getting killed or kidnaped in Zamboanga. Its not petty crime like getting robbed that worries me. I have that ####### at home. Risk vs reward is not worth it.
Only the Southern part of Mindanao is dangerous. There are many places is Mindanao I want and will visit some day; such as Davao City & Samal Island, Cagayan de Oro, and especially Camiguin.
I travel all around the Philippines and never once felt nervous. The end of March I fly into Manila then next day we are off to Siquijor for 7 nights during Holy Week.
I'm also planning a trip in July to meet her parents and 2 brothers but I will fly them to Cebu and we can spend time there and in Bohol.
Its too bad though. I bet Zamboanga is beautiful.

I think emails or screen shots of your messages and conversation. In my opinion, they don't really need a whole lot enough just to prove that you two are still communications.
Thanks!

I sent in four email threads, which each had about 4-5 emails, along with the I-129F. They are not necessary at this point, as you don't have to prove ongoing relationship, you only have to prove that you've met in the past 2 years. The good thing is that things that you send with the I-129F get sent along with everything else to the consulate which will be adjudicating the visa interview. It helps them see that you have a true relationship.
Thank you!

Thanks Inky & CaroSL. Good info. I will do just that.

My parents met her via Skype a few times while I was with her and also exchange emails with her. They wrote a letter.
My friends have talked to her by Skype a few times. They wrote a letter.

Here is what I used as a format. Hope it helps.
I had parents and friends fill it out also even though they only met her on Skype.

Do people send in the actual emails and Skype chats (or similar) in with the I-129F?
Curious if just sending a screen shot of my email inbox/sent showing all the emails would be enough. Have to show content? If so, you send all or pick what you feel is important proof?
Thanks!

I also have the Vonage $29.99 unlimited calling to Phil globe numbers. With their app, I can call anywhere from my mobile phone. When I do international travel, I can use the same app on my mobile to call her through WiFi. Its all incl in the plan. Its well worth the $29.99.
I bought her a Samsung tablet with mobile Wifi device through Globe. If she needs to reach me quickly, she can send me an email or skype me basically anywhere she is and I'm always logged in skype via mobile phone.
Vonage told me if she has a smart phone, she could also call with WiFi if she downloaded the app but we haven't done that yet.
Hope that helps.

Her parents will not be there so I will make sure she has copies of their postal ID. Thanks!

Parents just need to sign Form# 7? No additional paperwork for this particular item such as additional letter?
In Form # 7 who is the (Signature of person administering oath)?

I had no idea about this CFO requirement before reading this post. So, thanks for that. I found info by Googling it.
I want to confirm. Since my Fiancee is 23 yrs old, I also need a letter from her parents? I thought that was only a requirement for getting married in the Philippines.

Jeff check the following link http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/
Thanks!

My fiancee had no issues. Read the guide on St Lukes in the Philippine forum and you will get some good ideas. Or ask this question in the Philippine forum.
There is a Philippines sub forum for K1 visa? Could you post the link as I cannot find it. Thanks!

Am I allowed and if so, is it helpful to attend the interview with my filipina fiance?

Thanks Shawn...Good advice. Funny you say that as both of us commented to each other that our biggest fear in this whole thing is that the other one will change....By the way, I love Bohol. I've been there 3 times for scuba diving.

Thanks. That was helpful info. I didn't realize the requirements until I got back home and did some research. It was not my intention when I first met her. So, I'm kind of starting from scratch as I didn't keep anything. Just dig up what I can like ATM/CC statements showing transactions in the Philippines and start keeping records of skype, email, phone calls...

Hi,
I met my GF Nov 2011 during my vacation in the Philippines. We never went out just exchanged contact info. Could never connect during that trip. We just remained friends and chatted on rare occasions. As I got closer to my annual dive trip this Nov, communication increased dramatically. She met me on my arrival day and ended up asking for a leave from work so she could stay with me for my entire 18 day trip. Now I want to marry her and apply for a K1 visa. Other than my decision being too soon, is it too soon to apply for a K1 visa? How long do they like to see the relationship evolve before applying for a K1 visa. How many visits is appropriate. I only have so much vacation time.
Thanks,
Jeff

Ahh, good info. I knew she had to do the CFO but didn't realize it was tied to the passport. Thats helpful to know. Thanks!
Is she all set with return ticket and passport to travel to Bali? I in case we have an overnight in HKG, I heard also no visa required for short stay.
