  1. If your spouse is a government worker stationed abroad you might be able to actually file for citizenship early!! There are a couple of threads on expedited filing that might be helpful. The time abroad has to be at least a year more than either your filing date or your interview date I can't remember, but I know I searched and found some good info before. The rules are the same for Military spouses and certain US government employees.

This is helpful thank you. If anyone else is interested you can apply under section 319(B) of the immigartion act. http://www.pjclaw.net/citizenship/319b.html

  2. I entered a question about this scenario under the AOS Transferred to California thread before leaving to the UK earlier this month. In case anyone is interested to know what happened...

I went through immigration at Shannon, presented my AP and all was as normal. The guy asked me when I would be getting my green card and I told him I'd heard it had been ordered.

Now have green card in hand which will make travelling SO much easier... have a trip to Africa in a couple of weeks and I am looking forward to coming back in through the shorter immigration line :-)

To all those of you still waiting for AOS.. GOOD LUCK!!!! I keep checking to see where your names are.

  3. My I-485 is very similar to yours in terms of NOA1 date and CSC transfer date, but mine hasn't been approved yet. I'm also from North Carolina. My last touch was 1/20/2007. I'm wondering, did you get any touches before getting your approval notice? Also, did you get any help from congressmen?

No help from anyone.. just sat tight and waited. Called the helptime a couple of times for an update on my case but all they told me was to wait.

    Last touch was 20 January..

    Good luck to you!!

and YODRAK... thanks for your advice.. will printo off e-mail and take it with me.

  4. I would PM an expert like Yodrak or Dr_LHA- something tells me that you can't use AP once your Green Card is approved. I'd check on that before you leave the country so you don't have problems!!

OK so I got worried for a few minutes and called the USC line. I was told that my advance parole document was valid until the date of expiry shown on it... which is not until January 2008.

A tip for people trying to talk to someone at USC... choose the option for talking to someone about a change of address... I've found that way I always get through to speak to someone quickly and they can give me the updated status of my case. The nice man I spoke to today told me I could use AP still and I took down his name and id number in case there are any problems.

  5. Woooppppeeee!!!!!! Green card ordered! Now how is that to lift my spirits on a friday morning when I have way too much work to do and was feeling oh so tired. YES!

Sending out lots of good luck to all those waiting.... especially to those who have been waiting more than 6 months... just when you least expect it it wll happen to you too!!

    Hugs

PS so when they say can take up to 30 days to produce... what is the actual normal length of time? I go back to Scotland on Tuesday next week and would love to have it by then but I guess that is just not very realistic, will just have to use advanced parole on the way in to the USA again.... we are off to celebrate our wedding on that side of the Atlantic with friends and family who could not come over here last October... a good old ceilidh is the order of the day a week on saturday in Edinburgh.. yeay!!

  6. Hey John and Annie you've now graduated to place #5 on the waiting list ... and me to 10 ;-) it's slow but at least it is moving.

I just called the 800 number as california centre are showing processing times of cases recieved in December. I was told that actually what I have to check is the processing times of cases for the office serving the area in which I live... in my case the DC office.... which has processing times of September. I was told if I had not recieved an answer to my application when the processing times for DC office were a month later than my case was recieved (in my case that would be dec 07) then an official complaint would be recieved and the case investigated. So for now I will continue to hold tight.

The only really annoying part of waiting is every time I come through immigration with my advanced parole paper I get sent to the little room at the back and bite my nails wondering if I will make my connection......

Congrats to those of you who recieved your cards and 'bon courage' to all those still waiting.

  7. Hey all, my wife was transfered to CSC today. Can someone add us to the list? Thanks.

seems like they are transferring EVERYBODY to CSC these days.......hope we won't have a long wait

9 months and counting for us...

If I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath. Just enjoy your life, don't think about it and let it be like a pleasant surprise when it happens.

That's what we are doing to avoid driving ourselves round the bend :)

We were put through the ringer while applying for the K-1, everything that could have went wrong did so as of now I am optomistic(well trying to be). I just don't know why they are sending every application there when obviously there is a huge backlog

I am expecting a long wait

I'm with you guys. Waiting for K1 when we couldn't be together and there was the wedding all planned was stressful. This part, however, is just about sitting back and waiting, especially once you have travel permit and EAD. Still... it will be nice once green card is in hand :-)
