  1. My fiance was denied his visa last April based on criminal grounds (sentence wholly suspended). The conviction was 26 years ago. We filed the I-601 in June based on the 15 year condition, not extreme hardship. Nebraska still has it in Initial Review. Our lawyer has contacted NSC, as well as my congressman's liaison (multiple times). We are getting no feedback. It's been 8 1/2 months. We are both SO frustrated. Checking similar case numbers, I've found some approvals, MANY RFEs, and one other outstanding case on his NOA1 date. What is the holdup? Can someone enlighten us PLEASE?!

  2. My packet 3 letter states that the petition is valid for 4 months and that the notarised letter is needed if you require to revalidate the petition. Am I right in assuming that if your petition does not expire before interview you don't need the notarised letter?

I'm interested in knowing the answer to this question as well. The notarized letter was not on my radar but if it's needed I'll make sure I produce one.

  3. We are also waiting for an interview date (but only just) ... the Embassy received our forms yesterday the same day as the Medical results.

Just for information it does say on my Packet 3 letter that to revalidate the petition we are required to take a notarised statement from my fiancé of intent to marry within 90 days of arrival in the US and present it on the day of the interview. I am assuming this a must anyway and my OH has done the letter and I have it in my sticky fingers ready to go ... I'd rather have too much than not enough! :D

My fiance restated in his Packet 3 cover letter that he reaffirmed his intention to marry and included brief details about our wedding plans.

All that's left to do now is pay the fee. We were waiting for our interview date before doing that. It never occurred to us to pay the fee before getting the interview date.

  4. I sent Packet 3 on 11th February, had medical on 5th February. When I called the embassy on Monday they said my forms were logged on 12th March and that it usually takes 3 weeks from then to schedule interview. Just hoping petition doesn't expire before interview.

I asked the same question about the NOA2 expiring. The lady at the DOS told me not to worry as long as action had been taken on Packet 3.

  5. We are waiting as well, but here is our progress to date:

    Jan 29: NOA2

    Feb 4: NVC Rec

    Feb 6: NVC Left

    Feb 13: Consulate Rec

    Feb 15: Packet 3 Rec

    Feb 23: Packet 3 Sent

    March 1: Medical

March 19: Consulate Entered and Accepted Application

When I talked to the US State Department earlier this week, they suggested I call back next week to see if an interview date had been set.

  6. We gave a month before our wedding date, which assuming nothing goes wrong will be 5/25/13. We sent our forms overnight on 1/25 (recevied 1/28) and haven't heard anything yet.

I'd be interested to see if anybody has an interview scheduled that sent after mine. When I look at similar timelines, I can't see anyone that sent their earlier (unless it was a month or more before).

What about the medical? Was it before or after forms were sent?

  7. I have a quick question for the Packet 3 forms for the UK Consulate. Does anyone know where it asks for the "National ID Number (if any)" do we put in our National Insurance Number ... Technical that is not an ID Number ... I would guess that we leave that blank ... can anyone who has been or going through the UK Consulate clarify please

    Many thanks

If you are referring to form DS-156, this is an electronic form and Question 14 would not let us enter the National Insurance Number, so we entered "none".

  8. My fiance is in London. This has been such a long process! We originally started in Dec 2011. He had to send in for his police certificate 3 times! It kept getting lost or something. He went to a medical last month, stating he needed more information. Had additional medical in London today, which the doctor said that everything checked out this time.

I was curious also on how long it will take for the interview. Do they send you an appointment date? Or will he need to make it? I'm so nervous that something else is going to go wrong :/ Its terrible being on this end of it (in the US).

That's one of the questions I'd love for people to answer... how long from medical to interview date? My fiance's medical is at the end of next week. Have you sent all your forms to the Embassy? Are they just waiting for the medical report?

So sorry to hear about the snags that you've had... hope everything works in your favor from now on!!!

  9. Similar situation happened to me when I filed the I-129F. We filled out all the paperwork when I was in England for a month last summer and I mailed the petition as soon as I got back to the States. A month overseas nearly drained my bank account. I had no idea that the NOA1 would come so quickly. Seeing that this could be a problem, I immediately called my bank. Since I had no history of overdrafts and my paycheck is direct deposited monthly, the bank cleared the check. You just need to be proactive; doing nothing is a mistake.

Lesson learned: now that our paperwork is at the Embassy, we are being very tight with our money in case unexpected expenses arise.

I don't think you are going to have a problem. Today is a federal holiday, so banks and government offices are closed.

    Best of luck!

  10. Seemed like bloody ages for us. As you can see from my timeline it was just over 2 months between medical/sending off of forms to actually attending my interview.

I guess Christmas interfered in our case though.

Hey! From your timeline, I see your POE is this week. Congratulations and welcome to America!

  11. Just click on the 'embassy reviews'. People fill 'em out once they've had the interview. Link is here.

    Here's my experience though:

Arrived at Grosvenor Square about 7am, nothing was open, so grabbed a starbucks while I waited; when Gould's opened I dropped off my camera and phone (their bags are pretty big, so don't worry about bringing big stuff).

Got in the queue at 7.20 just in time to see the armed guards wander in, then got called through. You have to wait outside the security hut and put your belt/watch in a bag before they let you in, then it all goes through a scanner like at the airport. After that, you leave the hut and follow the path round into the main embassy itself.

When you enter, give your appointment letter to the lady and she'll put a sticker on there. Then you wiat....

They started calling numbers at 8am, by 8.05 I-902 (me) was called. I went up to desk 14 and as soon as the guy serving me said 'hello,' I realized he was the spitting image of Lionel Ritchie(!). Sadly he was rather businesslike and humourless so he didn't do much to put me at ease. Once I was done, I headed back to the main area and sat down, but only had about 30 minutes until they called me back up to window 16.

I had a lovely African American lady, all smiles and 'awws', really put me at ease. She seemed genuinely interested in our story and it was actually really fun talking to her. After a few questions which I rambled on at her about, she grinned and told me our visa was approved! :woo:

I paid £20 for my courier and was out in just over an hour!!

I'm aware of the Consulate Review thread. I'm also interested in how long it takes to get the interview date from the time of medical and responding to packet 3. Thanks for your imput!

  12. I'd like to start a thread to share news/dates/experiences about 2013 London interviews. Where are you in this leg of the journey? Please share about progress and completed interviews. And if there has already been a 2013 thread established.... nevermind  ..... but please send me the link.

As for us, my fiance received his packet 3 yesterday. His medical is March 1.

  13. Thanks so much! The only document we are lacking is his police certificate (which he expedite ordered yesterday to make sure he had it for the medical). Before I went over in December, I filled out and signed the I-134 and gathered all the supporting documents, so he has that in his files. Sounds like we're ready to go!!! How long a wait should we expect for the interview date? Note above: his medical is March 1.

  14. My fiance received Packet 3 today from the London Embassy. He read the letter to me, but it was confusing. On one hand, they present a list of the necessary forms and documents. On the other hand, the letter said don't send for fear of items being lost. So what is it???? What does he need to send to London so they will give us an interview date? If the medical has a bearing on WHEN to reply to the packet, he's scheduled in for an appointment on March 1. Thanks in advance x
