  1. UPDATED FROM ANKARA EMBASSY WEBSITE:

    Update: April 3, 2006

For Turkish applicants, if your case number appears below, please contact the local UPS office in Turkey by calling 444-0033 to courier your refusal sheet (OF-194) and the missing items. If that number does not work dial 312-444-0033. This must be done before the security check expiration date. If everything is in order, the visa will be sent to you by courier. If your application is still missing items, you will receive a deficiency notice telling you what items need to be provided to complete your application. If your case number is not listed, please check the list every seven days. You will pay for one way delivery. The UPS fee for return of visas or the deficiency notice will be collected by UPS when they deliver.

When your number appears, you may come to the Embassy before the expiration date given on the internet any Monday between 1:00-1:30 p.m. When the visa receives final approval, your passport will be returned by UPS courier to a local address (in Turkey) within 2-3 working days.

My fiance is Turkish and her interview is in less than two weeks. Our case # doesn't show up here. Is there any reason they wouldn't just tell her of any missing documents at the interview? Anyone have any idea what this is exactly?

  2. I am pretty sure she ill get the visa.

You can get an account at http://www.mezuncallingcard.com or your fiancee can. There you can get a free printout of your outgoing calls.

Do not you have pictures take together with her?

    Normal mail..letters?

Please say hello to Turkey (and Istanbul specifically) from me. I miss my country

    :)

I've only been with her once. Most of our time was spent chatting online. I have literally books of chatlogs. The only photos I have are from my trip to meet her just prior to applying for the visa. I only have 1 week to collect more evidence and so far all I have are chatlogs to print, a couple photos, my cell phone records which show me calling turkish telecom, and international text messages sent to her which were logged. We did most of our communication online since her spoken/listening to english is limited, as is my turkish. She can read/write it very well tho. I also have a valentines days card she sent me and she has the note and a dried rose from when I sent her roses.

I think I'm gonna have her ask the interviewer if it's ok for us to have the ceremony (but not the legal marriage) that weekend in Turkey. That's our plan so far. I think me being there and having a Turkish wedding would indicate how serious we are as well as make sure there won't be any issues with the K1.

I'll give Turkey a merhaba or two for you.

  3. The details...

Well our interview is April 17. I'm flying into Istanbul April 13, staying there for a few days, then we're flying to Ankara on the 15th. We'll stay until the 17, do the interview, then leave that evening to save on hotel expenses. Probably bus to her family's house in Mersin. Her family wants to throw a wedding party, basically the social portion of a Turkish wedding or so I'm told. My fiance will buy a wedding dress, I'll bring a suit, and in her parent's eyes we will be married. They even say we can sleep together in their house at that point... Legally we won't be married (I don't think) no but her parents will get to see their daughter's wedding. I was sure to explain the reason for not having a legal marriage.

I have no idea what these parties are like but my fiance's brother told me that if I didn't dance the traditional dances they'd throw me in the sea. I really hope this party won't cause any problems and assume it won't since it has nothing to do with the legal side of the marriage. I'm really excited!

I'm scheduled to fly out April 26th and I bought a 2 way ticket from Istanbul back to the states for her for $790. If she doesn't get the Visa I can turn the ticket in and get a $600 credit towards the next ticket. Cost of a 1 way ticket was over $1000 and in order to fly back together I'd have to fly turkish airlines which for some reason raised the cost of my ticket from the $900 I payed with NWA to $1250.

I really hope her visa isn't denied. It's been 6 months and we're both going crazy. I know others waited a lot longer and I really sympathize with you all. I really think they'd have a hard time asking me to provide cosponsor since I work for a University and make double what they ask. If they do ask for that, how long will this delay her visa? Should I consider bringing the proper paperwork for a cosponsor already filled out with me? My parents or her sister have no problem doing it. I'd have more trouble finding evidence of a relationship since we've only met once and have no phone records. I do have about ummmm... 6000 pages of msn chat logs from the last 6 months and my phone bill which showed the countless text messages we've sent each other.

I just want her here! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  4. Is it possible for them to cancel everything and deny her visa completely at this point or is it just a matter of time and what evidence we have if we get sent to AR? What kind of things typically set off flags for AR anyways? We don't have a huge ammount of evidence since the decision to do this was rather sudden and the process went by so fast it only allowed for one trip and tons of online chat. I have about 2-3 hours/day of chatlog from the last 5-6 months that I plan to selectively print out portions of. I have some photos from my webcam printed off. I have a few phone records as well as credit card charges. Ring receipts... A card or two. A few email. I just dunno what else I could bring to prove it's real. :(

Personally, I wouldn't be so sure of obtaining a visa from a Middle East country. Since 9/11, most ME applicants go through extra security checks, even female applicants. Check out this link for security clearances at Ankara.

Note the dates on the case numbers. Some of them date back to 2003. So depending on how lucky you are, your fiancee might be in for a very long wait.

I was told that the main security clearance was already taken care of while the visa was being processed by the NVC. Any additional security issues we would have would be a result of her or I having a police record there which she does not, or her name matching that of someone associated with a terrorist which due to the uniqueness of her name is a very small possibility. The K1 and K3 visas are different from other visas because it's an American citizen filing on behalf of a non-american citizen which is the main reason why they created the K1/K3.

Also, most people I know considered Turkey to be European, not middle eastern which is why they'll probably be the next member of the EU. They are muslim tho but on good terms with the US. Honestly maybe I'm just overly optimistic. I just don't see security issues being part of the equation since our i129 went through in about 2 months and only stayed at the NVC for a very short period of time which is where the security issues would have popped up.

  6. What does the acronym AR mean?

I'm really not worried about the visa. I make almost 3 x the $$$ that is required and have provided everything necessary in regards to supporting her. We've sent the letter from the bank, tax forms, pay stubs, and letter to employer already. With Turkey they ask for everything prior to the interview.

I really can't think of a reason they would deny her. We're pretty much a perfect match. She doesn't speak the best english but we have hours/days of chat logs to show our ability to communicate. The only thing that could perhaps be a problem is the fact that our relationship is't really documented until the point I actually met her in September.

By the way, a 100% refundable ticket costs almost 3 x as much as a non-refundable ticket. I'm looking at her ticket for about $780 right now. The cheapest refundable one was $2100. :(

  7. Our interview appointment is the 17th of April. I'm planning to get there on the 15th and travel with her to the interview. I'm then hoping to then return to the states on the 26th of April. The Turkish embassy says it takes between 2-3 days to have the visa delivered via UPS. Do you think my schedule is safe? Are there any reasons I should avoid buying her ticket now? I've found a great price which is nearly $250 cheaper than anything else I've been able to find.

  8. I got the visa, sorry not writing before but my fiance was here just for 5 days so was trying to make most out of it! The interview was easy, i was nervous but it went away after few seconds. I said goodbye to my fiance yesterday from istanbul and came back to ankara :( I don't know yet when i'll be able to go to US hopefully in 3 months, more waiting for me...

I want to thank you all for your friendship and support, I wish the best to all of you. I think I'll not be able to check this forum as often as I used to so good luck to everyone! See you later! (L)

Good to hear that you got it! Why can't you go to the US now? :(

    What questions did they ask?

  9. I'm wondering how her interview went as well. I hope she got it! I wanna know what questions they asked.

Aynur (my fiance) got her letter last Friday and she sent in our information on Tuesday. Hopefully the interview will be sometime in February but I don't know. I'll be flying over to get her once she gets her visa. We're both getting really nervous and kinda freaking out that they won't believe our relationship due to little physical evidence and the short length of it (we thought the process would take 8 months and it's taken less than 3 so far.)

By the way, for anyone doing a K1 with Ankara... Once the embassy has received your packet from the US you can send them everything they request. We waited 6 weeks to get the letter only to find out it was just a print out of the following webpage. http://ankara.usembassy.gov/uploads/images...g/k1k2visas.pdf

  10. I fell in love with my fiance by going to Turkey on a trip after text messaging her for 3-4 weeks. After spending 2 weeks with her I knew I had something special. We immediately bonded (and I don't mean physically) and we're crazy about each other. I'm a strong believer in chemistry.

I mean we could communicate better using her limited english, a pocket dictionary, and my limited turkish than I could at all with my first wife and last 4 girlfriends (all I've had since my first wife). We now communicate via msn messenger every day for hours. Her understanding of english is good, but listening/speaking is a lot harder than reading. I'm submitting a ton of messenger logs I've saved from the last 3-4 months.

Honestly I expected the visa process to take a lot longer. We went through so fast that collected evidence might be a problem. I'm also planning on going to the interview with her.

Can they deny the visa and cancel the entire process, forcing us to start over? I guess if that happens I'd just get married while I'm there. I guess it's like they say... Why say "I love you" or "Seni Seviyorum" when you can just show the person?

  11. My fiance has been studying english but there's still a bit of confusion sometimes, especially speaking/listening. I don't speak Turkish but we both have a lot of patience to get through everything without any frustration. I'm worried that her English or lack there of will be a problem at the interview. Do they expect her to know english? We originally expected the process to take a lot longer but it went through in less than 3 months. Any thoughts on if this will create a problem for us? Everything has gone by flawlessly so far.

Do they every ask questions in regards to intimate moments? hehe

  12. Hi Greenmind

The bad weather that SOlcayto has been referring to is the snowstorm that hit most of Turkey.

    :ot2:

Anyway as for your fiance's K-1 packet, I would called the Embassy to see if they already have it there and ask if your fiance can go there in person to pick it up or at least let them know that you are still waiting for your Packet.

    Good Luck

    Mina (F)

Been trying to call for 2 weeks now. Sent 2 emails about 2 weeks ago, no reply. Whenever I call I get a busy signal or it just rings until I'm cut off. My fiance has been trying to... same thing. We try at all hours of the day. I think we're just going to send in our information and skip waiting for the packet since apparently the packet K1s get is just a print off of a web page we already have. I've called the number on the website. Does anyone know a different number to call?
