  1. Ok, I just got an email, today 05/20 they have scheduled me for an oath ceremony, lets see for what date.

Congrats :) you will receive it on Friday. Mine was sent out on May 19th, but I already know my oath date. If you are super curious and can't wait until Friday, just call up customer service, request a transfer to Tier 2 officer and ask him/her to provide you with your ceremony date, or just wait until Friday. Congrats again :)

  2. Lack of Selective Service registration can be determined during the interview and not after when oath is already scheduled. I'm super confident that this situation has everything to do with system processing. He already explained himself on the interview and apparently excuse was granted, so I'm sure they just have to fix it manually. Keep us updated and don't come out from the office without another oath notice in your hand :)

P.S. they obviously they don't know about Russia or Georgia so don't even bother trying to explain lol : )

  3. That's exactly what I was referring to when I said that I have a pretty sufficient experience with them. Every interview or update that I had before, all the dates I obtained it from them. It all depends on the officer. Some might tell you that they don't have permission, and some might just go ahead and read it out to you with no extra headache. I can give my latest example as a proof. My status online says that currently I am in oath scheduling que since March 25th. I called them in the end of the March and it turned out that my oath has been already scheduled for June 16th, and because of time length they won't send a letter until May 15th. Now here's the thing: the very first time when I called, officer hesitated to give me any specifics regarding my oath date, because I asked as a additional question if there was a way for me to find out the date, since I had no knowledge that it was already scheduled, and he said that he wasn't authorize to release such information. I hung up, called them again and went straight to the subject, I said I need to find out the date and, guess what? not only he gave me my oath date but I got the address and location as well, so don't settle for their BS, you are on top of your case, just call and demand it.

P.S. they also created service request for me one time, because my interview got descheduled and I wanted the explanation, but as the saying goes: I guess it got lost in the mailbox

  4. Wow, that's just unbelievably messy. I'm pretty sure that everything that's happening around your case is a system trick problem. Why don't you try to call and talk to Tier 2 officer once again. What I know for sure is that, if there's any letter issued on your file, they can see it all and can easily read it out before if gets in your mailbox. Sometimes they are super strict about rules and regulations, but from my experience you are allowed to request such information as a main applicant. Just try to explain your matter and if he/she will try to deny your request, don't settle for it, just know that you are fully obligated to obtain the latest activity on your file. Another way is to make an InfoPass appointment but I guarantee the earliest date won't be available for at least 2 weeks later.

Best of luck to you and let us know how it goes ;)

  5. Hi everyone just wanted to let you all know about my interview experience today and I passed!

I had my interview at the Salt Lake City office. The guy who interviewed me was very nice.

He did the exams first. My questions were:

    1) What is one right or freedom from the first amendment?

    2) Who is in charge of the executive branch?

    3) If the president can no longer serve, who becomes President?

    4) There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

    5) What is one reason colonists came to America?

    6) During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States.

After that he went through my application. I was very nervous because I have been out of the country a lot. He said don't worry my application looks fine. When he got to the travel part he just asked what were the reasons of those travel. He was okay with my answers and didn't even go into any details. He said as long as you are not over 900 days he is not concern about it (I was out about 700+). He was very nice and went through everything very throughly and explained everything. I brought a whole stack of evidence with me and he didn't even ask for anything. After we were done he just kept asking if I had any questions. So I had to come up with some questions I kinda already know the answer to. :P I was very lucky. Now that's over with and it's time to wait for the oath!

    Thanks everyone!

    Congrats :)

I have been in queue for oath since 03/17, is that normal? My field office is Chicago.

Did you request a name change? Usually if you do, it takes longer than administrative oath ceremony, because USCIS don't have jurisdiction over name change, only courts do, so if that's your case, you gotta wait for judicial oath ceremony letter ;) I'd say extra month or two..

  6. Congratulations! Glad you've gotten your situation sorted out. Hopefully, your June oath scheduling proceeds without a glitch. Good luck!

Thank you, best of luck to you too.

Awesome! Too bad you had to go through a couple of extra "hoops" but better safe than sorry. And knowing your oath date is great and the two months will fly by quickly. :)

Thank you Birdo. Honestly I give you props for being so supportive and positive toward everyone and wish you all the prosperity and continued success in your life ;)

  7. Went on my "second interview" and as I expected it turned out to be a systems mess up. I was being told that my case is approved and locked already and because of my name change (which is just 2 letters in my first name lol) my oath is scheduled on June 16th. I was being offered to take a same day oath if I would cancel my name change, but I decided to wait. It's funny that technically if anyone applies for their citizenship today, might have an oath before mine comes lol. Anyway good luck everyone and I'm sticking around if anyone needs my help. Updating my timeline

  8. Yes that's what it means! In my field office they don't actually tell you that you're approved at the interview, they state "I am recommending you for approval" and pending "final approval" you will be scheduled for the Oath. So I guess some other person gives the file one last look before they say You're good to go and place you in Oath scheduling que. :)

But if I was you I would still go make the appearance on your scheduled second interview date... just in case!

Definitely, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm not taking this oath schedule que for granted  . Anyway I will keep you guys posted ;)

  9. True and I agree going is the best option. And if they can get your Oath either done or scheduled that would be fantastic!

Getting oath done sounds kind of too good to be true lol, I will settle for scheduling. One thing that I know from my experience is that if you really want to move your case forward, your local office is the place to be, because customer service and tier-2 officers are mostly waist of time (including infopass), so if they let me to my cancelled interview there's a good chance that I might have a shot to get them schedule me. Considering the fact that decision has been made 2 months after my interview they should have enough courtesy to help me out.

Just to double check, when case jumps to oath scheduling que, it means that final approval is granted, right?

  10. I'm glad it helps you - that's why I tried to be as detailed as possible! I was looking for something like that when I started my Naturalization process, just to see how to get there etc. and the whole timeline of that specific office. Good luck to you and don't worry about it.

I wonder if you still have to go to your second interview?? Just to make sure there's no weird snafus?

I have to go, because if system made a mistake by scheduling my second interview for nothing, it is highly expected that it might automatically abandon my application due to nonappearance, so I'd rather go there check-in and make sure that everything is on point. If they schedule me for oath before april 3rd that would be better and if not, maybe I will get them to schedule me right on the spot.

  11. Received this email yesterday

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

    Receipt Number: NBC*004xxxxx

Application Type: N400 , APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION

    Your Case Status: Oath Ceremony

On March 25, 2014, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Originally i was scheduled for interview on Jan 29th , then I received a letter that it was cancelled, but I went there regardless and turned out that my A-File was not transferred from NBC. Long story short: officer still conducted interview, I passed and he gave me a letter saying that they were awaiting the arrival of my A-File for final approval. End of February got a letter saying that I was being scheduled for ANOTHER INTERVIEW on APRIL 3rd and now got this update that they put my application in oath que. Seems like system scheduled me for another interview not knowing that I appeared on my cancelled one anyway.

  12. Anyways, good luck to everyone. I guess I have to update my timeline. Unfortunately..

  13. It's all about perspective, I suppose. Thank you for yours, Trooper. What a nightmare that it seems you have to go through another interview. Have you tried calling USCIS for more information? Maybe you can somehow talk to an officer about your interview on January 29, you may not need to sit through another round of tests.

Everyone has their own tolerance level. Other than me freaking out about certain things about my former marriage being brought up at my naturalization interview, everything went well. My mom, who submitted her N-400 in January 2014, is still waiting to be fingerprinted. She's scared that her application has been misplaced and we've reached out to USCIS about this but have been told to wait until March 24 and if we have not heard anything back then to call again.

We have to remember that although the immigration process in the United States seems to be run well, it is run by people who are buried in a ton of paper work. It is not an excuse to get every one of us 'frustrated' but I guess it's always good to look at the bigger picture. Focus on the positive (passing your tests and waiting for your oath as opposed to the thousands, if not millions of people who would die to be in your shoes right this minute) rather than the negative. Immigration is tough. Especially in this country. We are all testaments to this.

Wishing you luck, Trooper! Best of luck to the rest of you, too!

Granted. I'm not being negative, I'm pretty positive after all. I called customer service when I got my second notice and requested a transfer to Tier 2 officer since they can't tell you much and after being put on hold for more than an hour IO's response was very promising. He said just wait and if oath letter comes before your interview date ,than go on oath ceremony. Word-to-word he told me " whichever comes first". There's not even a point for me to schedule infopass because most likely response will be the same, so I'm waiting for round 2..

Thank you for being so positive tho.

  14. Special message for those who are being frustrated avout their Oath date!

Last week I got Interview cancellation notice, today I took a chance and walked in, After FP and while waiting for my turn I saw bunch of people passing their interviews abruptly and when I was called in guess what ? I was being told that my A file is not available therefore we can’t conduct your interview PERIOD !

Now feel free to compare my frustration with yours . . . may find little relief smile.png

    What a day !

You guys gotta slow down and take it easy when you use word : FRUSTRATION, because I don't honestly think that word applies to your current situation. Being in oath scheduling que means that your case has not only being approved, but already finished, just the matter of time before you get scheduled for oath ceremony, which is a one way ticket, nothing can prevent it from happening. I understand if you get approved and don't hear anything after, that's a reason to be frustrated, but being already in que, really? I don't know about that one...

Well, here's my situation. My interview was scheduled on January 29th, received another notice saying that my interview was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, but regardless I went there. My A-file wasn't transferred from NBC, but officer still conducted my interview because my local office was kinda far from my house and I guess they felt bad for me. Nevertheless, officer conducted the test, I passed, went thought my application, went thought my documents and told me that he was gonna request my A-file and I was supposed to get a oath letter in mail. I waited for a month and 2 weeks since my interview and guess what I received instead of oath letter? ANOTHER INTERVIEW NOTICE!!! scheduled in April, so please guys be super careful when you use words like: frustrated, disaster, heartbreaking etc.. Just be happy with what you got already....

  15. I think because of bad weather (snow storm) that affects many states in eastern areas of US. Many offices will be closed in several states, so they can't catch up with work and have to re-schedule you sometimes in February (my friend experienced similar situation, they re-schedule her 3 weeks later when the government was shut down for 3 weeks). I'm praying I don't get re-scheduled since Chicago, IL has a big snow storm that most of places will be closed tomorrow.

Thanks for response. I hope it won't take forever for them to reschedule me. I'm reading a lot of threads and some people actually ended up waiting for over a year.. I hope that's not gonna happen to me.

  16. I got the same message regarding my GC interview. After reading some pasta here on VJ advising to go to the interview regardless, I did so only to find out that it had been cancelled for real. The officer explained to me that they didn't have my file. So I went back home. After a couple of months I was scheduled another interview which I successfully past.

So, yes such emails do happen and basically they mean more wait (couple months in my case) but nothing more serious than that.

Thanks for response. Can you be more specific about timeframe? how many months exactly took them to reschedule you?

  17. yeah couple people who had interviews when the weather got really bad..they had interviews cancelled ..they will send out another letter in the next two weeks

Thank you for information. I'm read that some people had to wait 3-4 months for rescheduling, and mostly the reason is that A case is not forwarded from Texas Service Center to your local office. It could only happened to me. Extra headache because of this BS now...

  18. Hey guys what's up? I received a letter on Dec. 30th saying that I was scheduled for my N400 interview on Jan 29th and all of a sudden I received a letter from USCIS saying this:

"This is to advise you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the previously scheduled interview on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 for the above applicant. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

We will advise you of any action taken on this case, including any rescheduled interview information, under separate notice."

I read buck load of topics regarding the same issue but all of them are back from 2008-2009. Did anyone experienced the same issue recently? Please share your experience if you dont mind. Some of those people said that it could result endless delay....

  19. I just received this letter and I don't know what the hell is going on. Can anybody help me with this?
