I went to their office two days after I saw the issued. I saw issued on cec tracker on Thursday and went today and got it am so happy. I can try with my mum back to the us. I made a request at dhl office in person two days after the interview and paid 51 gh cedis, then after I saw the issued I went to their head office where I made the payment today and got the visa. No notification, nothing. Some people were complaining they didn't receive any notification. Please go there some days after you see issued. Remember it is Ghana we are talking about you need to take a step. All the best.

Ok thanks a lot,  that’s a very useful information. Have a safe journey back to the US with your mom  :)

Please my mums visa says issued but DHL hasn't sent me any pickup notice yet even though I have pays the money for collection. Please did you go to their office after you saw that the visa was issued. Please help me..

Even tho the status changed to issued you have to wait for  Ready/Ready to pick up status then you can contact DHL.. According to my research it takes a minimum of 3 weeks to change to Ready status. My dad hasn't received his yet. I erred in my previous statement by saying you can contact DHL after it has been issued. I think it takes a little bit of time from the visa issuance to mailing the passport to DHL for pickup.

My dad has the same dates

    Mexico, Cuidad Juarez

    April 2019 First interview (denied)

    April 2020 Pardon approved (601)

April 2021 Letter received to hand in updated documents and passport, Consulate kept passport

May 2021 Case status marked as Ready, pending SECOND interview.

Why would they schedule second interview?

    Thank you!

When my Mom filed IR2 visa for us a couple of years ago we went for a total of 3 interviews plus DNA test making it 4 trips to the embassy in total lol. It was really frustrating but eventually given the visa. They just kept asking for more documents every time. My Dad I would say is very lucky cos they didn't even ask for DNA test lol.

  4. April 18th 2019 ; Mailed form I-130 and all related documents to NVC

Nov. 4th 2019; Approved and case opened (Documents sent to embassy in Ghana)

Received Email in February 2020; Interview scheduled for April 9th 2020.

Received Email in March 2020 ; Interview rescheduled to August 19th 2020 due to COVID.

June 2020; All visas suspended until further notice.

November 2020; Sent the embassy enquiries about case status. Auto message sent to me about visa interview suspension.

March 2021;  Another enquiry sent; Same auto message and the next day received email interview appointment on May 5th 2021.

NB: New police certificate and new medicals required and done prior to interview.

Dad’s account of the Interview at the embassy in Accra Ghana 🇬🇭
    * I got to the gate at about 5 min to my scheduled time of 7:00 am
    - I stood at a distance waiting for my clock to strike 7th hour
    - on the dot I moved towards the gate only to be called back by a police guard! The ensuing discourse:
    “Man, where’re you going?”
‘I’m scheduled for an interview here today’
    “Well, it’s not time yet”
‘I was asked to be here @ 7:00 am 😲
“Well, when the Embassy’s staff are ready they’ll come out with a list and call out the names. So you may have to join the crowd there (pointing towards the trees within the circle in the autoroute) and wait to be called”
    ‘Thank you sir!’

    - We waited under the trees until at about 7:29 when I saw a security guard appear at the gate with a white sheet of paper in hand.
    - Then the police guard came to us with this invitation “The 7 o’clock and the 7:30 people, come on in”
    - The security guard asked for my appointment letter and passport
    - Having confirmed my name on the list he said “You can go in but your smart phones and smart watch would not be allowed in, go back and leave them somewhere and come”
    - ‘can’t I deposit them at the first security check?.....”No” he retorted.
    - After doing the needful I got through the security check Point and was directed to the main building door.
    - After the COVID-19 protocol hand wash I entered the main building.
    - a female receptionist again checked for my name on a list with her and directed me on to the waiting area.

Then came the start of the process
    - A lady invited me to the booth, took my finger-prints and checked my documents; then she asked me to sit down and wait to be called.

Then came the call “Mr _________, come to booth 8”
The female voice sounded very friendly so I felt relaxed as I walked to booth 8 and we exchanged pleasantries.
    Ensuing discourse:
*c/o - “Pls give me your documents”
    •Dad - ‘Here they are’
*c/o- “who is inviting you to the U.S?”
    •Dad- ‘my eldest son’😊
    *c/o “is he married?”
    •Dad- no
*c/o- “how long has he been in the USA?”

    Dad- ....answered!
*c/o- what work does he do?

    Dad-.... answered
c/o- “how many children do you have?”

    Dad- Three
c/o- “ is your other son married?.”

    Dad- No
c/o- “where are your other children?”

Dad-  all three are in the US
     c/o- where is your wife?
Dad- she is in the US too
c/o - So your son filed for her?
Dad-  no it’s the other way round 😊

c/o- How long has your son been in the US?
    Dad- ...answered

c/o- How long has your wife been in the US?
    Dad- answered.
c/o- did you go through another medical exam?
    Dad- Yes I did.
    c/o  - where?
    Dad- AKAI CLINIC
     c/o- When was that?.

    Dad- Answered
**c/o was nodding to his answers as she verified the information on her computer**
c/o-  have decided to give you a visa 😊

    Dad- Thank you 😁

c/o then handed  him a piece of paper with information on collection of passport through DHL.

NOTE: Dad’s visa was verbally approved but I checked the status on https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=IV and shows visa was REFUSED 😳. First I panicked and then I read this on the website https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=IV. So it says refused but not under 221(g) so no further documents are required. It’s a new status for administrative processing meaning the visa is being processed until the status changes to ISSUED then we can contact DHL.

Please let me know if anyone else had this status and how long it took for the visa to be issued? Thank you in advance 😊

  5. Sent form I-130 and all related documents to NVC on April 18th 2019.

Application was approved and case opened Nov. 4th 2019 ( NVC informed me that the documents are being sent to Ghana Embassy in Accra where his interview will be scheduled)

In February I received an email stating his Interview was scheduled for April 9th 2020.

In March 2020 I received another email stating his Interview was rescheduled to August 19th 2020 due to COVID.

In June another email stating his was received saying IM and all other visas have been suspended until further notice.

I kept enquiring about when a new interview would be schedled and finally in March 2021 a new interview was scheduled for May 5th 2021.

He sent a new Police certificate and new medicals because they already expired.

His interview day arrived and he was granted an Immigrant Visa which he would collect at DHL.

His account of the interview process was rather long and don't want to bore all the readers so let me know if anyone's parent has an upcoming interview and is interested in knowing some of the questions asked and the new covid protocols etc.

  6. Wow Unbelievable, I also thought my mom was going to be out of the embassy with a smile and I almost bought an airline ticket the week prior to her interview. That would have been a mistake because with additional documents they want now plus new medical exam we are looking at another two--four weeks and here I was thinking she was going to here on Christmas. Here 1st interview was long and tiring. More materials means more money out our pockets.

    Congratulations! You have made it.

thanks man!!! Evn if her interview goes successful it may take about a month for the visa to be ready, u might want to wait until she gets the passport in her hand b4 buyin tickets cos they not reliable with dates. I met a lady who has been there for lyk 8 times after her interview went successfully. was one story after the other..either visa wasn't ready or there was a mistake with the printing of visa etc. But hei jux provide 'em wat they want and evrythng wil go great..! all de best man! cheers!!!

  7. About a year ago I searched the internet over and over again after my first visa interview on nov. 28th for the information I'm puttin across but cudn't find any or incomplete. After my experience I felt I need to share this with others who might be in the same situation I was a year ago. My kid brother and I live in Ghana. Our step-father and my biological mom filed an IR2 visa for us. they hired a lawyer who started the process and by august 2011, she sent us the forms for our signatured and we did,so by 1st week in sept. she received it and filed it to the visa center in u.s. By mid october we received the good news, our interview date was scheduled for nov. 28th 2011. We were so happy, we thought it was goin to be like when we get there they were going to ask us questions anyhow and bam..the visa in our passports. we were lyk when we get the visa, the next day we out of this country for good. Now the D-day arrived and by 9:00 am we found ourselves in a qeueu entering the embassy. we sat in the consular section for hours until around 2pm we were called into a room with one big headed guy with small eyes ready to interview us. the Tension was very high and what made it worse was the fact that he kept asking do you have anything to prove that ur mom and step dad are really married, I tot, don't u f**kin 've that in ur system. that's f**ckin america we talkin aba. u shud have evrythin. he kept throwin some documents we presented at us, gosh i felt man this is not good. fear griped me knowin they will deny us. he then took a white paper and asked us to perform DNA and gave us another interview date scheduled for 25th June 2012. ####### 7 gud months! and this man was like, don't worry as soon as the DNA results are in we will call u to bring ur passports and give you the visa. that gave us a lil bit of hope that its really not goin to get to that 7 months. My mom paid and performed the DNA in u.s on dec. 6th 2011.she was told when the kit to perform the dna on us arrives at the embassy here in accra they will call us by phone. we Waited for over a month and half but no call so I wrote to them via email, waited for 5 days no response. I sent the mail over and over again about 6 times and immediately a response came that our DNA sample collection has been scheduled for 10th may 2012 and by april 29th I shud cam to the embassy for the appointment letter. I started searchin the internet to find out how long it wil take for DNA results to arrive and the distance between our DNA appointment and our second interview. now 10th may arrived for the DNA, went very smoothly and then 25th june 2012 also arrived for our second interview. we got there at 1pm as stated in the appointment letter. all hopes were high knowin that will be it, no more go n come. so this nice lady interviewed us, also throwin documents at us, said we need to add some tax return documents and some more proof, thus relationship b/n our mom and step-dad. she took the white paper and scheduled us for 25th sept. 2012(3 months interval) She also asked us to bring a new police certificate and new medicals. Gosh we were so dissappointed. she ended by saying gooodluck but jux left with a straight face. I was lyk f**k that visa man, I'm even tired. Days went by and finally 25th sept. was here. we arrived there around 1pm as stated on the letter. sat there for a few hours until the place was almost empty and she called us. Honestly I didn't know what to xpect anymore. she asked us a couple of questions, saying she wanted some more proof, In my head I was lyk take ur visa, we don't want it anymore. she proved very tough wantin to dig out any information that may complicate the proof we provided but as long as the Lord God Almighty reigns, everything went as he the Lord God Almighty had planned it. she asked us to sit down and in a few minutes say lyk 5 min. she called us and gave us a green leaflet thus the visa collection ticket to come 2nd nov. 2012 for our visa. Gosh I cudn't hide the joy I jux kept thankin the lord. we drove straight to churchees restaurant to celebrate with some junk food..lol. fried rice, pizza etc. 2nd nov. arrived and we stormed the embassy with a lot of confidence. but upon waiting for hours they told us it wasn't ready so was rescheduled for 9th nov. the day arrived and we went for our visas. It took virtually a year from start to finish. now I don't even feel lyk rushin outta ghana anymore!!! I Know this is a very long story and some people might find it quite boring. but I know if you get frustrated after ur 1st interview..u will definately need this so u know what to expect. If you need any info. you can ask, if i 've i will provide. thank you!!!
