  1. Hi all,

Im confused - I used to think I was getting good at this whole process but no! I have been reading the forums daily, learning heaps, discovering who the gurus are - Darnell rocks! I have been enjoying others triumphs, saddened by others heartbreaks and learning about trolls (amazing who knew there were such bored and nasty fools out there...)

    About me and mine:

I am in Australia with my family - I am the intending immigrant, my husband and child are both dual US and Aus citizens

Hubby has been in Aus 27 years. When researching immigration on this site I discovered my husband should have been filing taxes with the IRS for 27 years - who knew, we sure didnt. Discovering he was out of compliance with US law was a shock for my law abiding husband. Time for the fun to begin.

Hubby filed 3 years of taxes (via Offshore Voluntry Disclosure Program)I did all the paperwork and found it very difficult and complicated. Just comprehending the instructions was difficult due to US speak (We just communicate a little bit differently down here). Aus and US have different tax periods so we had to do lots of calculations and conversions. We couldnt understand how to complete a required process so decided a US tax consultant might have to do our paperwork instead. In checking our paperwork we were advised all was ok 'just dot these t's and dot those i's' so he signed off on our package and we mailed it off. I was feeling quite chuffed with myself for that success.

Then we completed and sent of the I130 and received our NOA2 in 66 days. Again I was feeling quite chuffed with myself for that success.

Sent tax transcript request to IRS.

Researched NVC process - hmmmmmm. Filled in DS 3032 and DS 230 (fun things to do while you wait for new content on Visa Journey)I have them on the table glaring accusingly at me as I type...

Hubby received AOS and my 'Immigrant Letter?' which contains NVC case numer, Invoice ID number, and my Beneficiary ID number from NVC VIA EMAIL

We have just received the the Tax Transcripts from the IRS so are ready to proceed. Hooray hubby is now in compliance with IRS (no longer a crimminal)

    Notes:

We DO want to get to US ASAP - unusual huh

We DO Not have a US BANK ACCOUNT - Hubby has been in Aus half his life and we didnt think to open one when in us on hol's last year - dumb huh

    Hubby does have an SSN

We DO have a joint sponser USC - Hubby's BIL - We will be staying with him upon arrival in US

AUS income WILL NOT continue after US entry - Hubby will need to find US employment

We are about to put our home on the market and expect it will sell quickly (our suburb is HOT at the moment)Yeah for us we will have money in the bank to purchase US home

Things that are racing through my head - And I need expert advise - Darnell, Ryan, Penquin are you there? (sorry if i missed an expert or two)

1)Do I snail mail or email DS 230 to NVC (I have indicated - no agent, comunicate with me)

2)Should I cut bar code off email and put on my pre-filled copy of the DS 230 (which one is the bar code, it looks like there is TWO)

    3)Should I even send the DS 230

4)AOS and other payments to NVC - Can USC BIL pay these as we cant do electronic filing, if so how?

I think I have over researched this process and read too much erronous information - I can no longer see the woods for the trees - so to speak

I will probably have more silly questions as we go along

    Thanks guys

  4. Hi JEC777. I have been on tenterhooks for the last week knowing your interview was coming up. I too was very nervous for you with regards your financial situation. I am so very pleased for you all. I can well imagine the kids lives have been on hold while they have been waiting to find out where they will go to school in 2013, what activities they should /should not enrol in etc....My husband and I have only 1 child, and we all feel as though we have been living in an airport waiting area the last few months, so I can only imagine how things have been for you. I wish you all the very best!

    Congratulations

  5. Hey ! Congratulations !!

I am so happy for you two !

I can cook that dish, la - the lemon grass here is huge (everything's bigger in Texas)

Hey Darnell good to hear from you! I just want to thank you in particular as it seems to me that you are always vey supportive and positive when providing your advise! I am very pleased to be journeying with you.Thank you. and I look forward to seeing that you are approved!

Thanks to you and all others for your congratulations.

You know, the lemon grass in my yard is pretty tall, however, it is really scrawny and thin due to the heat (I dont water it enough either!)

I pretty much loose interest in whatever I have planted as soon as it is in the ground, (which is very nutrient poor - like beach sand)So it is survival of the fittest around here!

It's going to be really interesting to discover what will / wont grow in Massachusetts with the rich soils and more temperate climate.

  6. Hi All,

I find myself obsessing, because none of us can give or get feed back on our cases. I hope that once we are finaly able to view our cases we will discover a lot of progress has been made.

Mind you I would be perfectly happy if a hard copy NOA-2 arrived in the mail tommorrow and I had never seen my case on line!

we filed 10/02/2012 (USC abroad)to Chicago Lock box

NOA-1 hard copy MSC nuber with a priority date 10/09/2012
