For consulate processing, we look at the 1st table (Final Action Date) Visa Bulletin to check if a visa is available. The second table is used to see if NVC will contact you and ask you to start submitting required documents in preparation for the interview when you date becomes current on the first table.  Currently for Philippines, it would be better to stay on F1 as its ahead by a couple of months. But you never know, maybe in future F2B will start moving faster than F1 so look out for that.

If that happens and you brother wishes to move to F2B, tell him to write to NVC using the Public inquiry form https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html and attach mother's naturalization certificate and request retention of F2B category.

Looking at your PD, you have still some years of waiting to do so I'd advice your brother waits and sees how the visa bulletin moves.

Thank you for your reply. So, if we don't do anything he will be staying in F2B until NVC is notified?

  2. Hello everyone, I know that this has been asked multiple times but I did not see any recent post about this. My mother petitioned for my brother with PD of 2015. She just got her citizenship last month. From my understanding F2B will automatically changed to F1. As I was looking at the visa bulletin F1 is now working on March 2012 and F2B is still on Oct 2011. I am not sure if i am understanding the bulletin correctly, because there's another box that says they are working on F1 April 2015.

Is it worth changing from F2B to F1? If yes, how do I do it? Thank you

  3. Yes my daughter is still minor and she was automatically granted US citizenship but i never applied for her US passport since we dont need it that time. And i never knew the embassy needs it since she is a minor. We finally got her a US passport last month and as soon as they told me they need it i sent it right away through email. We are not acquiring PH passport i just needed a dual citizenship because of a property that was bought in PH. They will not approve us for bank loan unless i provide Dual certificate.

  4. Has anyone submitted application for dual citizenship in Washington that can enlighten me on how long is the process for this? I received a text message that they have received my paperworks and will update me this was April 19. I emailed several times and finally I messaged in FB and told them how frustrating it is to wait not getting any response. This guy named Joey from Washington finally called me and was upset that I kept of following up and actually lied that i have been left messages and I don’t reply back? Then he said he needed my daughters US passport. If i knew that this whole time then I could’ve given it to them. So I sent the copy of my daughters US passport on July 16 and again no updates. I didn’t even know if he received it since he is not replying to my emails. This is getting me really upset. I feel like I’m being pushed to the side.

  5. What does this mean?

Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms and documents. Once NVC has received all the required items, they will let you know if anything is missing or incomplete. You can also find these instructions online at http://nvc.state.gov (English) and http://nvc.state.gov/espanol (Spanish). You will find contact information for NVC at http://nvc.state.gov/ask.

i never receive anything regarding 6 steps.

  6. I sent my application for Philippine dual citizenship in Washington DC. I received a text saying the application was received and they will contact me soon. Its been a month and have not heard anything. How long does this usually takes?

  7. My mother's Philippine passport had expired. I am so lost on how to renew it, a friend of mine said she can just go to any Philippine consulate and renew it. I do not want to drive for hours and get there just to find out we need an appointment. This is truly stressing me out, I tried to call several consulates with no luck. I can go to any consulate as long as it's a guarantee that we are not  going to waste our time.  Anyone had gone to get their passport renewed please enlighten me. Thank you

  8. My mom is the petitioner (PR) for my brother over 21 yrs old.She filed it early July 2014.

it says on the letter the above petition has been approved. We have sent the original visa petition to the NVC.....

I dont know what to do. I am the one helping my mom with the processing because she dont know how to do all of this.

The whole time I though we just need to wait for the next letter from NVC. I started realizing it's been 1 yr and 11 mos now and still have not received anything.
