What all required to bring with us at the appointment for the I551 stamps? Just passport? any other documents?
-
Mu husband was issued his 10 year permanent resident card in January 2017. He lost his wallet at the grocery store last week with his card inside along with SS card and his Driver license.
We are traveling to Haiti next month. Can we get an I-551 stamp in his passport for traveling? How long does it usually take to get a new permanent resident card? I'm sending in the I90 this week but I doubt it will come before we leave.
Will we have trouble leaving Haiti or entering the US with an I-551 stamp?
Has this ever happened to anyone?? Advice please??
Thanks all!!

I marked my husband as single instead of married by mistake. I receive an RFE from USCIS wanting g and explaination as to why I marked him single.
Well..... because I was 9 months pregnant at the time and in the hospital passing kidney stones.
How do I explain it? Just write a letter telling them it was a mistake that we are still married?
Advice?!?!?!?

What would I be able to show them? His green card expired in May 2016. We did biometrics in May 2016. We are at closing now with the title company and they have asked for an updated copy of the permanent resident card. We do not have this yet. And probably won't get it until next year since it takes forever to get them.

My husband and I are in the process of buying a house but his green card expired in May of 2016. Any advise on if this will be an issue? We have our extension letter and have already done biometrics but still waiting on the new card.

I AM HELPING A FRIEND OF OURS APPLY FOR A STUDENT VISA TO COME TO THE US TO STUDY TO BE A MECHANIC SO HE CAN OPEN A SHOP BACK IN HAITI .
HE WOULD ATTEND A COLLEGE CLOSE TO OUR HOME.
I LOOKED ON THE SEVIS WEBSTIE AND THE ACCREDITED SCHOOL THAT HE WOULD ATTEND IS LISTED ON THERE SO DOES THAT MEAN THEY ARE CERTIFIED FOR SEVIS?
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE OF SEVIS AND SEVP? HOW DO I KNOW FOR SURE IF THE SCHOOL WILL QUALIFY?

My husband and I are building a clinic in Haiti so the child will only be in the states for about 3 or 4 years. Then will come back with us when we move to Haiti. I have searched all the forums for student visas for a minor child but everything I find is for adult. Im looking for a step by step process like I had with my husbands K1 visa. Made everything much eaiser. Thanks all!!!

His parents are both deceased he has lived in the orphanage where by husband worked and lived for many years. We are aware about the tuition and all the cost involved. our main concern is process on applications and approvals. We do not meet adoption requirements for Haiti because you have to be married for at least 5 years.

Hello All VJ's!!!!!
I have some questions about student visa in Haiti. My husband is from Haiti and has been in the states for a little over a year. We did the k1 visa.
But.... We want to apply for a boy that was living in the children's home where my husband lived and worked full time. His is 13 years old and speaks English really well. and it has been on my heart for so long (many years) its like he is my own blood. but.... I have had a lot of trouble finding information on the guidelines for getting a student visa for a Haitian child. or even adopting a Haitian child since we have not been married at least 5 years. ( one of the requirements) any advice on either student visa or adoption for Haitian child would be greatly appreciated.
thanks all!!

Yes , just bring your I94 and the EAD card along with proof of address and anything else your L.B. requires for regular requirements.

Adopting a foreign child in many cases does not yield a relationship that is valid for immigration purposes. If they are close to a specific child that may complicate things even more. If this is really a relatives child then there is almost no chance of getting immigration benefits through adopting. http://www.uscis.gov/adoption/country-information/adoption-information-haiti should be helpful.
There are no relatives. And he is not a relative of ours. He is our sponsor child since 2011.
Thanks for your link.

I think that's a really rude question. The means by which a couple chooses to expand their family are none of your business.
OP: I don't know much about the process, but I think that it probably will be easier for you guys to complete the adoption since your spouse is Haitian. I've heard that the Haitian government is looking really closely at international adoptions right now.
Assuming, of course, that you and your spouse are adopting the child together and both names will be on the adoption certificate, I would think that, since you are a USC, the process should be pretty similar to normal with a USC sponsor/adopter? But I might be totally off base.
THANKS WILL CHECK IT OUT!!!

No. Everyone there only dealt with U.S. citizens adopting. We dont know anyone who has gone through this type of adoption. Thats why we are seeking additional websites for advice.

My husband is from Haiti and has been in the U.S. for a year. He has his greencard and we are starting a new journey to adopt our sponsor child that is in the orphanage where my husband worked. Are there any websites that you know of for Haitian adopting Haitian? I heard it would be easier for him since he is Haitian?? Any help or direction would be great.
thanks!

My husband is applying for schools here in the STATES. We have his EAD and AOS but are waiting on his G.C. but my question is he able to apply for financial aid? I know he cannot become a burden on the U.S. but I wasn't sure if it applied to Fasfa???
