  1. Best to include all three complete US Federal tax returns, if he's currently self employed. Make sure you state his income from line 22 of the first page of each 1040. For the self employed, there are no W2 forms, and his "current income" will be the number on line 22 of his 2013 tax return. Has it been filed?

Strange as it may seem, I would not recommend using a Tax Return Transcript in this kind of situation. I know you'll read that they are preferred generally, but they are NOT PREFERRED in a Joint Sponsor, self employed, filing jointly with spouse, situation.

He has filed his taxes yes. What he has is his IRS Complete Tax Return Transcript. That shows all his income and money made in 2013. What I understand is since it shows Married Filing Joint, he needs to prove his income in that transcript. The idea is he has to submit his 1099, not sure if he has W2's since he is retired in 2010. I will find out tomorrow what he has and hopefully you can tell me if that would be enough.

  2. Okay to sum up this head ache that I have. My uncle makes all the money in the house hold, he doesn't want to involve his wife since they file joint married.. He will send his IRS Tax return transcript. Does he have to send in the original W2 form or can he just send a copy of it. and will a copy of the W2 be enough to support the IRS transcript even though it doesn't show a break down of who makes who on the transcript. The reason for this excessive checking, I'm thinking the embassy can say will this is a copy of the w2 that could have made up numbers and its fake and the wife makes all the money and not my uncle. Wil the IRS transcript and copy of my uncles W2 be enough?????

  3. So my uncle is going to be a joint sponsor, He makes all the money in the house hold so hes the primary sponsor filing I-864. He files married joint filing on his taxes. I was thinking his wife has to provide a I-864a to prove how much she makes since its Married Joint Filing. He doesn't want to involve his wife so hes telling me he can provide W2's for his tax returns. Would that be sufficient to leave his wife out of the whole picture even though he files joint taxes.

  4. okay she has the same last name as her husband, do they need to provide proof of relationship, also does she need to provide proof of citizenship? because its not asked on the i864a instructions. Just shows on I-864. She cant provide proof of citizenship because she'll have to order a passport which is to much already asking for what they are doing. would sending just the I-864a with her signature be enough?

  5. Okay so should I have her check the box for "I have Filed federal tax return for each three years", and have her put 0 where it says individual income but on the total income tax, have her put the full amount shown on the Married Filing joint return, right?

or should I have her just leave section 11 blank and put 0 in section 10

  6. Well these documents were already sent and she already had an Interview, they asked her for a second joint sponsor and a written letter from me saying I don't make money. They never asked her for me to fill out a I-864. So i guess I will. My dad had made enough but because we had a baby and I was out of a job he considered us 3 instead of just my wife even though I gave citizenship to my daughter.

As for my uncle, like I said on the fiiling joint tax return it shows him as the primary Social Security and the tax return for him and his wife is 400,000. Even if it says 400,000 does his wife still need to file a I-864A even if the money is enough and she doesn't work but they just file jointly?

  7. I have two important questions. My wife had an interview back in august of 2013 and was told she needed a second joint sponsor. My dad was the main sponsor. I never filed for a I-864 because I was living out of the country for two years before I met my wife. I had no income to prove... They told my wife she has one year to get a second sponsor and I guess they told her they needed some letter from me written and signed that I didn't make any money in the past 3 years and did not file for taxes.. Here is my question now, I have my uncle who's willing to be a second joint sponsor next to my dad to fill the poverty guideline requirements. His tax returns say Married Filing Joint. He makes well much over the poverty guideline, around 400,000 a year dollars god bless. My question is this, since he files Married Joint Filing, does his wife have to do a I-864A ? even though she doesn't work? or is a I-864 for my uncle enough? Second question is should I submit a I-864 on my behalf?

  8. I have my wife who needs to be sponsored since I wasn't living in the states and was living with her prior towards we got married. My dad was the original sponsor but at the interview they kept her passport and said she needs to find another sponsor because my dad was short like 2,000 dollars from the poverty guideline. I have a married couple who are willing to be a joint sponsor. Each of them are teachers and make well more then enough. My question is do they each file for a i-864 since they will be using a combined income to sponsor my wife, Or should they just file one i-864 form?

    Thanks.

  9. Hi back in August my wife in Egypt had her interview and was told that she needs to find another sponsor. Me the husband, was living with her at the time in Egypt for 2 years and didn't have any taxes to sponsor her so I had my Dad sponsor her. I guess he didn't make enough to sponsor her and our daughter. They gave us 1 year to find another sponsor. I have my uncle whos willing to do it but I want to make sure I do it right. How should I go about doing it. I'm thinking he has to fill out form I-864A but I'm a little confused on that form based of what I should put for part 2 who is filled in and signed by the main sponsor (which is my dad who already done but was not enough money ) who will be filling out the form i-864 who was also my dad. *** Should I have my uncle also fill out a I-864 and also a I-864a or just I-864a? Also part 3 on the I-864a says needs to be filled out by the household member, who would that be? Me the husband, or my dad the owner of the house who was the main sponsor? *note: I never filled out a I-864 my self for my wife because I did not have any income to proove. I glady appreciate your precious time, and thanks.

  10. Yea I was born in the states. I was told if I passed the 6 month stay most likely they are able to request a Military Clearance. My first name is Mostafa and I look Egyptian. I heard it's possible they will say im my orgin is Egyptian. About getting an Egyptian Passport, That's very easy and I can do that and leave with it actually but I have two questions.. first won't they ask me wheres my Visa to the United states and secondly if they don't ask that question... Upon entering into the United States, won't the United States look for an exit stamp on the US Passport?? and when they don't see one they will wonder where I came from and not let me in, and if I show them the Egyptian Passport isn't possible they say thats a different person??? I appreciate your help, your answers are very informative thanks.

EDIT: P.S. I know at the plane it self right before entering it, they have an extra security guy after you go through the main ones standing there checking the Passports, I'm afraid he or she will cause a problem as I've seen it before with someone else.

  11. Okay I'm a 27 year old male whos a United States Citizen, Both parents are United Citizens as well and both parents are orginally from Egypt. I came to Egypt in October 2011 and I've been here ever since. I'm planning on leaving back to the states soon. I know that entering into Egypt you get a 6 month visa stay. Well I broke that. Now I'm hearing that most likely I have to present a Military Clearence Certificate since my roots are Egyptian. My mom gave me the Egyptian Nationality last time I cam to Egypt when I was younger except the full name on it and date of birth is different then my US Passport. My dads original name has been changed when he entered in the US back in the 60's he never came back to Egypt so my mom had to put his original name on my Egyptian Nationality. For example, My name on the US passport is Mostafa Frank XXXX and in my Egyptian ID its Mostafa Fakhr-Eldin XXXX My real date of birth is right on my passport but on my Egyptian ID they made a Mistake and its 2 days off my real birthday. So basically my US Passport and my Egyptian ID Middle name and Birth Date don't quite match. My question is what happens when I go to the airport and most likely the Egyptian Government Officials will ask for my Military Clearance. I will show them it but they will see the middle names don't match and birthdays don't match. Plus theres no possible way of fixing it because my dad needs to be here and hes disabled no way he can come and I tried to get written authorization to fix his name and they wouldn't allow it. What are my options what can I do. I just don't want to book a ticket and find out they want a military clearance ceritficate and then I show them and it shows the middle name and birth date don't match. So confused and annoyed, any help please thanks guys.
