  1. Hello everyone, i am going through a dilemma so I would appreciate everyones input and advice:

I am a 21 year old student with just a part time job so I cannot sponsor my fiance.. My father is 100% willing to support my fiance during his stay but his income is definitely insufficient considering he has already sponsored someone else in 2009. My fiance is prepared to support himself if necessary taken that he has a well paying job in Algeria and an account with US dollars which he will bring proof of. Is my only choice now to use a family friend as a co-sponsor? What should I do?

  2. Hi everyone, My father is going to sign the affidavit of support form but i'm a little worried because he has already sponsored his friends son before. Does anyone what the chances are of the Consulate still accepting it and what the limit on sponsoring is?

Also, has anyone been successful in getting their visa even with the co sponsor was a friends and not a relative and should I try that?

    Thanks

  3. Hello

My fiances appointment is in a couple of weeks and we have gathered all the necessary documents for the interview. Someone told me that he wouldn't need any "military record" if he hasn't served in the military. Can anyone confirm this for me? Would he only need to show military record IF he served in the military? or is there some document that shows he hasn't served that he would need to show them?

    Thanks!

  4. Thanks!

omg could you ask your husband what the police certificate is called in French or Arabic? :innocent:

The police certificate is a record covering the following:

You must submit police certificates which:

Cover the entire period of the applicant’s residence in that area

Have been issued by the appropriate police authority

Include all arrests, the reason for the arrest(s), and the disposition of each recorded case.

My husband went to the local police station and they were able to provide him with the Police Certificate. It is only valid for 3 months though, so don't get it too early. In his case he had to get one (and get it translated) to send to me for the NVC, then he had to get another one (again translated copy too) for his interview as his original one sent had expired. The embassy was very on top of the expiration date. I am just glad he thought about it ahead of time.

As for the proof of not being in the military, my husband was not either. They never asked.

    Best of Luck!! :star:

    Hi

I am also from Tebessa and I filed and i129f for my fiance who lives in Tebessa. The i129f is for couples who are NOT married. The i130 if for couples who are already married. You will not have to file both of them. Just ONE of them Hope that helps :)

  6. Hello, I was born in Algeria but I have lived in CA since I was 4. I met my fiance when I went to Algeria in the summer of 2008. We got engaged in the summer of 2011. I filed for the i129F in June 2012 and received and approval notice in September 2012. I received another notice that our petition was sent to the consulate. Can anyone tell me about how long it was between the time an approved petition is sent tot he consulate and when you receive your "packet"? Also who receives the packet? me or my fiance in Algeria? If anyone could clarify that for me that would be great! Thanks
