While I don't understand what anyones experience in a different State and different industry would have to do with what you are trying to find I guess there is some method to the madness.
Try Craigslist for your area or Carrier Builder for example.
I went to work within 3 weeks of getting my green card.
If you don't understand the so-called 'madness', you can try not contributing to the conversation. That would be infinitely better than posting a snarky comment that no one asked for
I also didn't ask how to find a job, so you telling me to try craigslist or career builder--when I posted on a forum asking people to share their personal experiences of how long it took them to find any job-- was pointless.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to identify what field of work you are trying to get into if you are looking for perspective?
I'm ideally looking for a position in the marketing/public relations field, but I'm also applying for minimum wage jobs in retail as I'd like to just get out of the house and do something. So I'm not asking for input from people who are in the same field as I am, I'm looking for people to share their varied experiences.

I've been in the US for almost a month now, and I've been looking for jobs like a crazy person. Just for perspective, how long did it take you guys to get a job when you just came to America?

Actually I got it 7 days after my poe. added up the days wrong.

Oh my gosh OP, your story almost made me cry. I am so happy for you both!

just wanted to share, that i was one of those that ticked 'get ssn automatically' on the ds-230, and my ss card came today just 12 days after my poe
I was stressing and wondering if it would even come, since so many people have had problems with it coming automatically, so I had decided that I would just go to the ss office to apply for it.
but I decided to wait until next week to do that, and it came today. so people, sometimes it works!

I got my passport back from dhl with my visa in it a week after my interview.
-
OP, if you already have your tourist visa, you can travel to the US from Jamaica just fine during the filing process. If you'd have the apply for a tourist visa, that's where a difficulty might arise.

Should I be worried that I didn't recieve an email after I paid? I paid last week, but my status on the elis site just says "Your application/petition has been accepted and is pending review."

congrats and good luck! I just read about a same sex couple in florida who got their green card petition approved.

there's no invoice. you should've have gotten a sheet attached to the outside of your brown envelope with the instructions on how to pay the fee. the website is uscis.gov/uscis-elis. you have to create an account to pay the fee.

thanks for your help everyone. so all the self-employed petitioner needs to send in with the form is the irs transcripts? no other form of documentation/proof is needed?
-
Hi, we have paid the aos fee online and it shows up as paid. Now we want to submit the i846 form.
However, the petitioner is self-employed. What documentation should be sent along with the form in this case? Since the petitioner is self-employed, there obv would be no w-2s for example. Are the 3 most recent tax returns all that need to be sent along with the form in our case? Also, since the petitioner's salary is all that we'll be using to qualify, would it be okay to use the i864EZ form?
Thanks for your help in advance.
