  1. I think the chance for your gf to visit you in the US that she needs to prove the strong ties with her family.

If she doesn't have any proof about her property in the home country, she can print photos and information about her family to show your strong ties and the plan for the future would be great, and of course the confirmation at her university.

My case is a bit different with yours that My bf and i have been together for 4 years and he have met my family as well, but my bf is aussie and i am working in Vietnam etc

I had my interview yesterday and i was surprised that they asked me 2 questions: "what is the purpose of your trip to the US?"- Tourism. "What do you do?"- I am working in tourism. And they didn't even look/ask for a piece of paper that i brought in for the interview.

So don't worry too much and be honest and confident :)

  2. My bf sent me a letter of invitation that include his resident address, his work, his annual income. Then the information about me, how we met, how many times have he met my family and said i have a strong ties with my family then about my work in Vietnam.

Next part is the information abt his sponsor, he will bear all of my costs in the US etc

    G'luk

  3. No, he cannot be your financial sponsor. Only USCs or LPRs can provide financial sponsorship.

An A2 is a visa for diplomats and the purpose of it is to travel to the United States on behalf of their national government to engage solely in official activities for that government.

The COs at the interviewing Embassy will ask you to present proof that your have strong ties to your country and sufficient funds (by yourself) in order to grant a B2 visa.

    Thanks Celeste,

My bf is holding an A-2 visa (and consequently he is employed in the United States) and in the form DS160 i filled in "he is the person who will help me to pay for the cost of my trip". Is this ok? or FAILED already?

I will get the letter of invitation from my bf and also in the letter will have the information that he will cover all of my expenses. But also i will show them my work contract and my saving account (not much though :( ) and especially my family, friends and my job in my country.

  4. Thanks everyone for answering my question!

I am from Vietnam, as you know it's very difficult to get a visa to the US.

In the form DS160, there is a question "person/entity paying for your trip?" so i put my bf's name and his address in the form (who will help me pay for my trip and for the information i have read, they call it sponsor person and i will need sponsor document like the I-134 as the information in the website of the embassy as below)

"If an individual is sponsoring your trip, a letter from the sponsor regarding the purpose of your visit and financial evidence that he/she has sufficient funds to cover your travel and other expenses (for example, Form I-134 Affidavit of Support, tax returns, employment letters, pay stubs, bank account statements, etc.) "

Am i confusing about sponsor document? And now another question is coming up is "My bf just has an A2 visa, can he be my sponsor?".

Thanks again for helping me !!

  5. I am not an Australian, just my bf. I have a job and income in my country as well as my contract with my company till June 2013 (i can prove that).

I can print out my bank statements as well as the bank's confirmation but i cant prove my income because my job is a freelance English Speaking Guide.

I don't have any relatives in the US, just my bf there and a few friends who are USC i met on tours. And i have a big family (4th generation) in my home country and we are going to catch up on Lunar New Year on February (should i bring photos of family and friends etc??)..

  6. Hi everyone,

I am applying for a tourist visa to visit my boyfriend in the US (He is not an USC, Aussie studying there with an A-2 visa)

I want to visit him at the end of this year and spend the time together, i applied for a B2 visa and my interview is in a week.

My boyfriend is my sponsor because my finance is not strong enough to prove that i can afford for my trip in the US. But we have been very busy and we didnt have enough time to get the original papers. So my question is: Will they accepted notarised papers, scan and send it to my email so i can print out to show to the Embassy? or MUST be original documents?

And same question as everyone else: In the DS160, i filled in friend about my sponsor cause they don't have another options. During my interview, should i say my partner or just friend?

    Thanks in advance,
