  1. Congrats on all recent approvals... Those of you waitin on approvals when u call ask to speak to a tier 2 officer they have more access to information in their system they can go into your file and see what exactly is holding up your case. They are much more helpful... Hope it helps!!!

On another note waiting upon the arrival of hurricane Sandy NYC is completely shut down :-(

Thanks for the information. I have spoken to a tier 2 officer twice within the last couple of days and on each occasion even though they were polite and pulled up my case info, I got the same response from both. "VSC is currently processing March 5 petions so your's is not out of normal processing times. When your case has reached 45 days past normal processing times we can put in a service request for you but not until that time. Thank you for calling VSC and is their anything else I can do for you?" They obviously are scripted as well and are giving the same untruthful information since we know they are processing April and have even begun on some May petitions. The system is not just but it appears there is nothing to do but wait..... and wait some more.

  2. Hi just wanted to ask, our fiance visa has been approved,Im looking to buy one way ticket for my fiance, here in US. Does anybody here use orbitz, expedia or cheapoair.com, or any website that is cheap and no problem thanks..

You might want to check out this site. http://santraphael.com/home.php. I have contacted them already concerning the same issue for my fiancee. If I understand it right there are one way tickets available at special rates for 1st time immigrants to the states. Look like around the $500.00 range for prices. You can contact them on YM which is what I did. Good luck

  3. so another week passes and still not heard anything! this process is now getting on my last nerve now!

I concur with you. I'm getting more irritable by the day now. I've called everyone I can think of and so far to no avail. There seems to be very little method to the approvals, skipping over days and approving ones days after. Makes no sense to me and I will just be glad with this is overwith and can move on with life. There's no such thing as TGIF anymore for me, it's now TGIM just so I can once again hope for 5 days in a row.

  4. We got it! We got it! We got it! 10:30 eastern time in the US, 8:30 in Panama where we are right now... while waking up...... yayyyyyy! Jumping and hugging in bed!

Finally! First thing Jarrod said: You might still make it in time for Christmas!

    Thank you April fellow filers.

Now waiting a week to call NVC and get our number since we left the packet 3 ready with my mom down in Buenos Aires so she can deliver it to the embassy as soon as we get that case number. So happy... we were getting close to 200 days and losing our hope, but here it is!

Congrats J&V!!!!!! Hope that's a good sign for those of us just behind you. Good luck with the rest of the process

  5. So we've had our Congressman involved for the last couple of weeks, and after their third inquiry to USCIS, we finally got a proper response which is that our case is currently in the hands of an officer.

The lady from the Congressman office told Jarrod about how someone over there said that they've just been a bit behind and that our case was in the hands of an officer, to which Jarrod responded "but Obama said there were NOOOO backlogs when it comes to legal immigration cases!!" and of course she started laughing.

On a different note, we've been calling USCIS every day for the past 5 days, and asking for a tier 2. The first 4 were to say the least, not informed, uneducated and disrespectful (one even hung up on us) but yesterday we were transferred to an officer of a higher rank who very well and respectfully informed us that he couldn't disclose any information on the case but that we had to understand that a big part of the process involves a delay at the FBI for the background checks. All cases are different, and some take longer than others, like ours (Jarrod owns his own company and has been living and going back and forth from Argentina and Uruguay to the US for the past 3 years...)

So I thought I might share this info with you, it brought some relief to be given some sort of logical explanation where the delay was. Maybe it can help somebody else, and don't hesitate contacting your Congressman and USCIS because it might work. Just be consistent.

Now all we have to do is wait a couple of more days, and luckily our wait will be over! Good luck to all waiting!

Well thanks for the info. Ours is one day after yours, but I don't think extensive FBI background checks would be relevant in my case, and certainly not for my fiancee. I guess they gave a response that might sound plausible.................but.........I think they are just backlogged. Anyway good luck and I hope we both hear something sooner rather than later.

  6. I haven't been able to sleep well at all for the past few days... following 39 cases properly filed on my day April 18th. 9 got RFE (some even today), 12 approved, one denial, one withdrawal and 16 of us still waiting...!!! gggrrr

The numbers before mine and after mine were already approved... MY FILE people, MY FOLDER is the one you have to pick up next VSC employee! Please! lol

Amazing how that works isn't it. In my "group" there are 10, mine is the first, and the next 5 after me have either been approved or RFE'd. Hmmmmmmmmmm seems ironic we are getting skipped or overlooked.

  7. I'm waiting right along with you....the last couple of days or so have been really hard. But it's been really exciting seeing April filers at VSC get their approvals. It gives me some hope that mine is right along the corner as well!!!!

    [/quote

Waiting also......been playing with the numbers surounding mine on USCIS. Quite a lot of activity these past 2-3 days. I'm tracking 53 cases including mine, all with the same NOA1 date as mine. As of today there are 15 approved, 13 RFE, and 25 still showing initial review. Mine is still one of those showing initial review. This information doesn't really help anything LOL, just gives me something to do to keep from going insane over this process. I was surprised though at the ratio of RFE's to approvals. Based on my non-scientific, tiny sampling of petitions they are almost 50/50.

  8. How far up and down the numbers do you go? Is your 'group' just other K1 petitions? I'm confused about how it works.

Yes, change the numbers down until the petition type changes from I-129F to something else. Then do the same for numbers above yours. In theory then you will isolate your "group" and can count how many are in it as well as check for approvals etc

  9. Once recieved petitions are boxed and stored until they get to the front of the line. Activity of closely numbered petitions usually indicates your box has been sent to the floor and petitions are being pulled for processing. That doesn't mean that you may not have a snag or be the luck recipient of extra random checks but it is a good sign.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I understand about random checks, RFE's etc. Just hoping I'm not in the unlucky group receiving those.

  10. I read some posts a few days ago about tracking your "group" on the USCIS website. So I put my case numbers in and then changed the last numbers up and down to determine how many were in my group. There are 10 total in my group and two of them are approved, one today the 16th and one from the 12th. Is this really an indication that mine should be looked at soon? Or is it just totally random and these "groups" really have no significance? Thanks for any response.

  11. Good luck and hang in there a little while longer! Don't underestimate a congressman's help when you are outside the processing times. They do represent us, and some are very good at what they do. Reluctance to ask won't do anything though. Also Mick_n_Leila, your timeline states "Texas Service Center". You can change this to Vermont by editing your timeline and get/contribute a more relevant estimate in waiting. :)

You may be right about the congressman and thanks for the advice. Are you familiar with how a person goes about contacting their congressman? Just never have had any reason to even consider it LOL so if you have any info / tips it would be appreciated.

  12. Just wanted to say HI to every one that is sharing the same journey as us, and maybe a place to sound off.......this has been a long and difficult road for us....

*the strain of being separated, our lives are on hold

*i just dont understand WHY Vermont is sooooo slow to process petitions, while Cali SC is zipping thru em

*every one asking on my side and hers " when is she coming or when are you going to USA" ....I do know most are asking out of concern, but it it makes us miss each other all the more,

I could go on and on,

Anyways, feel free to say "hi" if you are in this together with us or maybe just share info or concerns.

I sincerely wish a accelerated processing of each and every ones petition and a very blessed and life long Matrimonial Bond for us all.

Many many of us feel your pain and anxiety. It gets worse with each passing day and week and month. Ours is about a month earlier than yours and we are still waiting as well. I called USCIS when it passed the 5 month mark which was supposedly past the normal proccessing time when I called. Only to be told it was still within normal times.........whatever.....Now the time has officially been changed on USCIS to 6 months proccessing, so when I hit 6 months and call, likely I'll get the same response "normal proccessing times" etc. Extremely frustrating proccess and unfortunately all we can do is wait. I really don't think any amount of calling, crying, begging, whining or congressmen is going to change anything. We are at big brother's mercy and all we can do is ponder why we were subjected to VSC instead of CSC in which case our significant other would have already been in the states. Best of luck to you, keep the faith, I guess after it's finally over it won't seem so bad. Take care.
