Exactly. The I-94 does not authorize someone entering with a K-1 to work. You must have the EAD or green card to go along with an SSN to be legally able to work. It will take about 2-3 months to receive the EAD after filing for it with AOS.

OP> You mentioned him living with his brother. Will he not be living with you after he enters and you marry or did you mean you would both live his brother or your parents? It would not be a good idea to live apart. If you have an AOS interview, you need to provide proof of living together and co-mingling of finances, insurance, bills and such.

Yes we would be moving to chicago to live with his brother where he feels more comfortable, Well thank you so much! I guess we will marry ASAP and then file all the other papers and the next procedures so he can start working thank you for the info!

  2. Thank you. I will be in Napa. My fiance told me that his neighbour's wife is already waiting for me. She is a Filipina too and she is excited to introduce me to some Filipinas as well.

Man, leaving my family sucks so bad. I thought it was not going to be melodramatic.

Im sure it will be hard, but you will go back and visit later on! Congratulations on your approval and welcome to the united States! :) you will adjust to it.! Best of luck!

  3. Hello friends,

Ok I have a question if anyone knows the answer to it I will GREATLY appreciate it. When my fiance enters the United States with his k1 Visa can he start working right away? does he need a temporary work permit? Where do we go from here? I mean he can live with his brother meanwhile, but he definitely wants to start working, since my parents are acting as co-sponsors, I'm still a college student. My parents offered us to stay with them until he has a stable job, but you know how guys are, lol. he wants everything done by himself, so can he start work right away?

  4. Greetings, I am writing to inform everyone that VSC sent me this Notice of Action, for reopening my I129f, which was denied, and appealed, and approved with the help of God :innocent: , and you great people :star: that have assisted me with my crazy questions, I thank you. :luv: This notice says " After review, we have reopened the above application or petition, or reconsidered the decision previously issued. You will recieve a notice under separate cover once all action has been completed".:dance::dance::dance:

Congratulations!!! and EVERYTHING with the help of GOD is possible! Good lck on your reopening case! :)

  5. Hi my Visa Journey friends. I have a special question. My Fiance and I are havin our religious ceremony here in the United States, my question is his mom and dad are not residents of the United States nor Citizens. Is there a special way that they could assist to our wedding based on the k-Visa I filed for him so his parents couls assist and join us on our special day? They will only be attending the wedding and flying back to mexico. My inlaws could file for a visa in Mexico, but what is the likeliness that theyw will give them the visa?

  6. wow you did need the letter of intent! the lawyer made a huge mistake and this is going to delay all your paper work. The whole point of the visa is an agreement to marry so you do need the letter of intent. In my opinion it is better to send the documents than to not send them. A lawyer was not necessary at all. I personally did all the paperwork myself just like many other people here. I did some research online before doing all the paperwork, and it brought me to this website where i have met many wonderful people who have advised me and have exposed their case so we can see an example of how things can go. You will get the RFE before your notice and you need to have those documents ready, but just like someone commented lets just hope that the person who gets the case is in a good mood and then maybe they wont be so picky. GOOD LUCK! and this is not the end of the world it will just delay your process a little. So do some research and know what to expect next.

  7. The usual alignment is--

    CSC

IS this always true?? I am worried I live in Texas so the package will be sent to Vermont? Are they going any faster in their process? I really hope it gets send to California. Where did you find this information?

  8. To All the May Filers and my VJ family,

I just checked the USCIS site a half-hour ago and saw this:

On November 2, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I haven't heard sweeter words in months. I've been staying with my fiancee and her family in Karachi for the past 3+ months and was seriously beginning to miss home, even to the point that I was contemplating returning early to Atlanta, but this news finally arrived. I still can't believe it, it's almost 1 a.m. here in Karachi and I'm afraid that I might wake up from a dream. Thanks for all the kind words of support and advice that some of y'all have been giving me, they've really helped me get through these times.

Now the joy of dealing with the NVC and waiting for an interview date starts. I'll be keeping all of you in my prayers and thoughts and y'all please do the same. Let's hope we can all be with our loved ones as soon as possible. Good night and Good luck.

BTW: what happens next? What am I supposed to do now? I'm too overjoyed right now, but I do realize that there are a few more hurdles to clear. Any advice for me will be highly appreciated.

Congratulations!!!! So from the day you sent the petition till the approval was 3 months??? My fiance and I just sent the package out yesterday.

  9. You did not file at the Texas Service Center. If you did, you made a mistake.

If you followed the instructions, you filed at the Dallas (Lewisville) Lockbox. From there your petition will be transferred to either the California Service Center (CSC) or the Vermont Service Center (VSC) depending on where you live. Those are the only two service centers currently processing I-129F petitions. When you get your NOA1 (I-797C Notice of Action indicating that your petition has been received), the receipt number will tell you where they've sent your petition for processing. If it starts with WAC, your file is at CSC; if it starts with EAC, it's at VSC.

Hi there ok I just have a question. I didnt realize the difference from the Texas Services Center and the Dallas Lockbox. I sent the package to Dallas Lockbox yesterday. Is that ok? so from there they will either send it to california or Vermont? So the processing times are different based on where they sent the package?

  10. Hello!

I've been reading on this sites forums for a few weeks now and have to say it's got the best inofrmation! I'm in england and my Fiancé is in America, I've just come back from seeing her 2 weeks ago and she is going to be sending the K-1 off sometime in the next 2 weeks. I didn't realize that she had to have a passport photo of me so I'm going to have to take one and mail her it. The process is long but we've been in a long distance relationship for 2 years now.

I have a concern though, we met on Xbox and spend all of our time together on Xbox, we use Hotmail to talk when away, but I have no emails past 25/10/12 because of them being deleted and cannot be brought back, will like 50 emails (copied onto word and printed) be enough for the K-1 app? Aswell as our pics together and flight proof?

Awesome website, I'm pleased I found it! It's gonna be a hard journey because of my previous mental and making sure we can prove that we are legit, but I'm prepared for anything to be with her. =]

Hi and welcome!!! Just like your case, my fiance and I have been together for 2 and a half years. We started this process beginning october. he had to get a passport photo and send it to me. It took a month to get everything ready and double check all the paperwork, however the package was sent yesterday to immigration and now we just have to wait! it is a simple process as long as you have all the information that you need. And me and my fiance do not have any emails, we have text messages and phone calls, yet nothing on the computer. But, as long as you have a couple of pictures together and the flight ticket that should be good. I wish you best of luck!!!! It is a short process even though we think it's long.

  11. Our process went fast in part due to how fast the California service center processed our petition. Also I'd like to believe its because we had everything in order and they didn't need any additional information from us. And definitely did NOT hire an attorney. This process is so simple, and was designed to be so, that hiring someone else to do our paperwork would have only delayed our case. We did everything ourselves.

That is exactly how we are going as well. Well Congratulations and best of luck!!! Hope our case goes great as well. Yeah I ave EVERYTHING in order how it is guided here on visa journey. I am just double checking EVERYTHING so we wont have any problems in the process.

  12. The address itself really isn't important, it's what is IN the letter that counts. With that said, I put the consulate address. Also I think I kept everything else the same, just changed the date, and we will both re sign it (each of ours) when I am there for her interview.

Wow your process has been extremely FAST!!!!!! you guys have the interview on November??? That is only 4 months after you sent the package??? I am starting on this process and I am sending it tomorrow. Did you hire an attorney or did you guys do it on your own?

  13. Hi I am New to this process and I am in that situation. I am starting this process by sending the package today or tomorrow. However, I am a college student and I am unemployed at the moment. How would that case be handle? would I have to start working or can I simply use a cosponsor? Also, if I have medical bill still on file would that affect in any way since they have my social security?
