  1. My wife and I are in the exact same situation you are in. I filed the petition on her behalf that took about a year to be approved from immigration, then on June 27, 2012 our case was also approved by the NVC, originally we were going through the U.S. Consulate in Turkey, but after some time waiting, and when I explained the situation my wife was in (she lost employment after 7 yrs because they found out she married an American) they asked the consulate in Ankara if they would be willing to expedite our case and they replied no, Yerevan stated that they would accept the expedited case. I recently called the NVC and asked them about our date; like you they stated that would be up to the embassy in Yerevan.

Also, when you check their website they state how busy and understaffed they are and prefer correspondence through email. And, when you do further investigation they also state it takes several weeks for them to give any info on a case once it has been sent from the NVC. I am waiting for a reply from one o f the emails I sent, but will be calling tomorrow if I don’t hear back from them. Like you, my wife and I have been going through this process since February of last year. We did the engagement and final marriage in Tehran, Iran.

I stated in my letter my concern was not only her employment status, and the fact with current embargos I am not able to send her any money and have to wait for a friend who is going but also the political turmoil that both the U.S. and Iran are going through.

Best of Luck to you and your husband

Thanks for the reply. I am so sorry it has taken so long for you and I am worried that I too may have to face these kinds of delays. The only difference between us I guess is that my wife is living in India right now.

I did hire a lawyer but he does not seem to know as much. He is actually an Iranian lawyer in New York and he said that the best place for her to apply is Abu Dhabi. I am not too comfortable with that answer because he didn't really give me any reasoning.

Anyways I will dig more and also try to call the Indian embassy. I wish you all the best.

You both fill out the G-325A, this is the form the I-130 instructions specifically state to use.

Since she is living in India and depending on exactly where in India she lives, she will be living in the consular jurisdiction of either the Embassy in New Delhi or the Consulate in Mumbai.

I am not too sure about his. She actually lives in New Delhi but from what I am being told she is only allowed to go to those 6 consulates. I will call the Embassy in India and find out.

  2. Hello everyone, this is my very first post on visajourney.com

I am planning to apply for my wife who is an Iranian citizen but living in India.

I am going through the process of filling all the forms etc. and have some questions on the form.

1)Since my wife is living in India, I need to send her the forms to sign and send back. But when looking at the G-325, I see that there are two identical forms - G-325 and G-325A. Which one should I use for myself and which one should I send to my wife?

2)On G-325 - there are two places that asks for the signature

One is below the section about "Last Occupation)

Second is at the end of the form

Does the applicant have to sign on both the places and same for the beneficiary?

3)On I-130, there is a question that states "Name and address of present employer" - is that the name and address of the employer of the applicant or the beneficiary?

4)My wife is Iranian. In I-130, there is a place that notes what consulate can be listed for the interview. Since she has a choice of consulates (The US does not have an embassy in Iran), can I list any of the consulates there?

Is there a place where I can find the processing times per consulate (the choice is varied like Abu Dhabi, Naples, Dubai, Ankara, Frankfurt etc.)

    Thank you all,
