  1. I think the 30 days apply to once your appointment is scheduled and the letter sent, not to the statusupdate itself.

    Exactly!

Read the notice carefully, the 30 days refers to after you've been scheduled for an interview and a letter has been mailed to you. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to call but what you should do is seek out other Atlanta filers to be able to gauge how soon interviews are scheduled.

  2. Congrats every one !!!!

Yesterday my interview was at 9:00 am at Philadelphia .I got approve on the spot for a 10 years permanent card

The IO asked fair and straight forward question. He only asked to see our photos and children birth certificate. The

Interview was for 15 mins.He was informing me about the 10 years card and when I can apply for citizenship in 3 years.

I saw he stamp approve on my file.He said i will get the green card in about 3 weeks. At 11:00 yesterday got 2 text and email

    That my i 130 and I 485 was approve.

Congrats Tshana!!! Yay for straightforward interviews!!!

Just got my EAD in the mail today. And job interview next week. God is good.

Congrats and all the best on the job interview. He really is good!

Hello Nov. filers! How are you guys doing? Just want to share the good news, received my greencard today

Congrats!!! I'm sure having the card in hand is such a relief.

  3. Isn't there something in the notice that says if the scheduling takes more than 30 days to give them a call? Or have you called to check? I guess it depends on what you are adjusting status from. The processing time lines they have online really depend on certain criteria. Usually it should not be that long.

"When scheduling is complete, you will receive a notice with a time and place for your interview. If you have not received the notice within 30 days of the date the notice is mailed, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address."

The 30 days refers to the notice being mailed out after your interview has been scheduled. I haven't been scheduled for an interview.

Based on the timelines of other NYers, this is typical.

  4. so our interview is on 2/12 and i wanted to let you guys know what i have as far as a abonafide marraige and evidence.

three bank accounts ( 2 savings and one checking)

several credit cards in her name

proof of insurance on both cars ( just got her a car ! )

health insurance ( i have one set of document that shows her coverage and address - it expired though and applied to another insurance that i have but won't take effect until march)

paper showing her as a beneficiary on my IRA

    pictures of course

mobile bill showing her as an authorized user ( its a screen shot , on billing statement it shows only my name).

possible life insurance beneficiary paper ( still working on getting one but it may not be by the time of interview)

i can't remember if i have anything else ( i am at work now heheh but writing the stuff out of memory)but wanted to share what i have, i'll have to check my paperwork as i may have forgotten anything else.

I am going to add her to be on my house that i own , but my mortgage company is saying i have to refinance my loan in order to do that so thats not going to happen anytime soon before interview.

can you guys see if there is anything else that i can add her too ? any utilities may take a billing cycle to generate names but i wanted to see if i have good enough evidence or panic..ha ? thanks!

Sounds like you have some pretty solid evidence!

  5. Yes, I'm another New Yorker. You can see from my timeline I'm also in the waiting game for an interview date. Mine went to scheduling for interview on Jan 09. So frustrating as most other marriage-based-AOS from a work visa who filed in November seem to already have interview dates or even interviewed already (based on what I see on VJ). And it is just not clear to me whether I'll be waiting for another week or two or another month or two! Let me know if you have any developments - you seem to be on a similar timeline to me.

Oh I'm glad you posted cos I was starting to feel alone especially as most other November filers have interview dates already. I imagine the delay is due to spots not being available.

I'll def keep you informed. Come join us in the November filers thread, also.

  6. i have more questions about the AOS process. I don't know how to create a timeline so i'm going to outline one here.

    We filed a concurrent I-130, I-485, I-131 and I-765 on December 4th, 2012, sent in all requirements

Received notification of email and text receipt of notification on December 8th, 2012

Received hard copies of NOA and biometric appt in mail with appt for January 4th, 2013

Successfully completed walk-in biometric on December 19th, 2012

Received text/email notification on December 27th, that I-485 was in the interview scheduling phase and we should expect an interview date in the mail.

That was the last we heard from USCIS. There has since not been any activity on our cases. We are moving to a neighboring state in the next week, we got a bigger place because i'm due to have our son in the next 2 weeks. I have been hesitant to change our address because I don't want to delay our process any further. I expected that we will have received an interview date already, but we've heard nothing. I just want to know if this is unusual. Its been almost a month since I got the notification that our case has gone into interview scheduling but we've heard nothing else on all other applications including the EAD and AP. Please let me know if anyone has had similar issues or if I need to be worried. will changing the address from new york to new jersey delay our process? and how long does it usually take to receive an interview date?

I hope my rambling made sense. Thank you all in advance for your responses.

If you look at my signature/timeline, you'll see that I got the same message on 12/18/12 and other than approval of EAD, I haven't gotten any information on interview. It has something to do with availability of dates in NY because others who filed around the same time in other states have already received interview dates. Oh well!!!

Oh to add a timeline in your signature, look on the top right hand side of the screen, click on "settings" (under your username), then click on "profile" and on the left you should see "change signature". Then you should be able to add a timeline. Hope this helps!

If you got your NOA on January 4th, there's no way you could be getting anything about the interview real soon. It usually takes at least another two months from the NOA letters to get the interview date (if not longer in some cases). And just as other mentioned you cannot get interview appointment if you are moving. You have to report your address change so that they can setup an interview at your office close to your residence. Good luck!

January 4th seems like the date for the biometrics appointment.

  7. No word of interview date for me and I'm starting to get worried.

I called USCIS about a week ago and was transferred to a tier 2 rep who told me not to worry. He said he was sending an email so that they could at least work on my EAD and then about 3 days later, I got a mail from USCIS stating that I should hear something about EAD within 30 days of the notice. Other than that, no movement on my case.

Any tips on how to proceed?

  8. Hello November filers,

Two days ago, I received my I-797C NoA stating the date of my interview as Feb 8th at Los Angeles office. I recently moved to a new apartment, few blocks from my old one. I updated the address with USCIS on Jan 3rd. Today morning, I received an email update for USCIS which says "we sent you a notice that the interview scheduled for your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was canceled by USCIS." What I am worried about is, they don't give any other information like "my application now will be considered under January filers?", "what is the reason for canceling the interview", and "What can be the rescheduled date" etc.

Could some one please comment about this.

    Thank you

I read from someone else's experience here on visa journey that you should still go for the interview. I am not sure who, but will search a little and see if I can find that post.
