the slash / was changed to OR on 12/06 after a year and half of waiting for AP. I did fill a mandamus on 11/22/19. i am not sure what happened but i am still waiting for a phone call or an email and just nothing from the embassy. does any one know what is the waiting period for them to call us? K1 Fiance Visa Beirut embassy

I think they have a 90 day period to respond. Someone else can confirm.

  2.

my parents were issued visa finally.

I wish you all the best of luck. This will end one day for everyone for sure.

just keep a few things in mind:

    - there is no harm in inquiring from embassy post 60 days of new medical submission

    - paper trail (courier based mail) is the best way to ensure that if you are reaching for expiring soon status, your mail will be read no matter what. They even state to write to the embassy with letter of intent to persue.

    - no one like stories. My letter was only 2.5 lines long. No complains and I attached proof of last communication date and timely response along with why I had the intent to persue

    - use your congressman but do not over use by doing an inquiry every 30 days. That is just my take. I have seen embassy officials respectFully update case and respond in much detail of queries had a gap of 60 days.

    - take everything to your interview/oath yadda yadda. They may ask you for something out of the ordinary. Like we were asked for additional pics again at interview.

    timeline roughly 2019:

26 August: new medical submitted with pics

11 sept: cases moved to expiring soon
12 sept: did not wait for embassy; ds260 refilled out myself

15 sept: portal used to reinquire Status

30 sept: portal used to reinquire status

4 oct: one parent case put in AP back

10 oct: tracked mail sent to get a reinquiry if status of expiring soon of other parent

15 oct: 2nd parent updated status back to AP

Nov 18: congressman staffer contacted for helping with update with comments that we had resubmitted medical and pics

nov 22: email recieved that instructions had been dispatched to lawyer

nov 24: after consistent emails to lawyer he finally responds with letter

dec 6: re oath and finger print same day portal updated to printed and issued

dec 12: passport collected from khi

They kept his passport at the interview back in November 2018. Then sent it back beginning of December 2019 to renew.

Ah I see so yes ppt is passport. It depends on what happens that day. He will be interviewed again after the oath and finger prints. But them calling him back is a good sign. When my parents were called they were issued visa on spot as in the case updated the same day to issued. But for some from the thread I have seen they had to either wait or there were some other circumstances.

Hi so my husband was asked to resubmit medical and pictures and Ds260 in October 2019. Case has been in AP since November 2018 Islamabad embassy.

Today we received email to appear for reoath and fingerprints and to bring a valid PPT.

Anyone know what happens at this type of appointment and a PPT is a passport?

Did he submit a passport before ?

  5. Update

Unless they ask you for it, you do not need to fill the ds form.

That's crazy! Was it an IR-5? My husband had the same travel history, I had applied for his CR-1 back in 2012 and his AP was only 5 months long, which at the time seemed like an eternity. But with all the new changes now, you can expect anything.

Yes ir5 . His wife is here on ir5 but he is still back in Pakistan waiting.

We were under AP for 55 days, after submitting DS-5535, the embassy called us to submit passports for visa to be issued, but my 19 year son is still under AP,

we are on an F4 immigration visa. BEIRUT/LEBANON

our interview was on september 12

my wife and son were initially asked for the ds-5535, but after 55 days my wife received the visa but 82 days have passed and my son is still AP.

Both me and daughter were under "ready" and when my wife received the visa we did too, since she is the main applicant.

we should be travelling in february before our visa expires, and we are worried about leaving our son behind.

does anyone have any advice what shold be done?

he received 6 updates, the last one was november 12 without inquiries.

12 september     (when interview was over and was asked to submit ds-5535)

    1    october

    8    october

    29  october

    6    november

    12  november

Have you tried discussing this situation with the congressman representative so they can reword their inquiry in such a way? If you do not have family back home, you can let them know the need of why your son cannot stay back. A tracked letter to the embassy would work too describing the need for why you cannot leave him behind. It has to be a compelling reason for them.

Yes. He has traveled to many middle east countries (Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia) for shia pilgrimage.I know thats a potential red flag which could possibly cause delay, but 2 years of AP 😯

Not scaring you but I know someone who travelled to 30 countries because of his job. He has been in AP since his interview in 2016.

    Hi everyone,

My father in law had his iR-5 interview on February 2018. Everything was fine, he was given the 221g and in 3 days emailed the DS 5535. We filled that form and emailed it back within the same week. In March 2019 we received an email from the embassy requesting for a second interview. The second interview was in mid April 2019, again everything was normal, no out of the blue questions. He was told to submit his updated medical and photos so they can issue the visa. By the first week of May, we had submitted the updated medical and pictures. His case is still on AP. We have reached to our congressman and they are not getting any new information than the standard AP email we get from the embassy. We are reaching 24 months of AP since the initial interview in February. I have noticed some cases take long, but almost 2 years of JUST AP seems way too long for a genuine IR-5.

    Thoughts? Comments?

We are patiently waiting, but always question what the issue could be.

Does he have travel history ?

His medical did expire. I didn’t contact a congressman this whole time our case has been in AP 18 months and our case has moved along just fine just Ap factor. Yes after the medical we got an email telling us before the reoath apt we need to fill out the ds260.

Ok so remember this. If you filled the ds260 and retook the oath and his second medical is still valid, 30 days post oath please start reaching out if u don’t hear back or at least a month before his new medical expires, reach out to your congressman office for update.

I am talking about Writ of Mandamus cases. Generally speaking people have had to wait for 2 yrs after interview with no progress. It is crazy. we filed after 14 months of torture of waiting.

I see. My posts were inclined towards submitting of remedical and pics and then waiting for the call for oath. We have been waiting for 14 months too from interview date.

Yes my husband had a second medical and re-oath where they took his fingerprints again. They contacted us via email. It’s been almost 2 weeks since his reoath. They did not give us a time when his visa will be issued. Status still says AP throughout the process.

Medical now expires every six months. I would hate for the medical to expire. So if you don’t hear back within the next two weeks ask ur congressman to inquire on your behalf. Was he asked to refill ds260 before his oath and was there any major change in his refilled form ?
