  1. So are you saying that you changed his name before spending in the AOS paperwork? Or you sent in the paperwork then had to change it mid-process?

I'm rather confused about the name change as well. Did you just put a new name on the AOS paperwork? We were never asked about what we would like our names to be on the marriage certificate. I've already applied for her Social Security Card in her new name, but we won't receive that until after we've filed our AOS.

  2. You are her husband so why dont you help her to pay off credit, so no reason to awareoops8rh.gif

A little sharp response? I'm sure he has thought of that. Many people assume that because someone is from the US they will just have money sitting around to take care of any possible situation. However I would be concerned when the wife wants to return to the DR to visit family that debt won't go away and she might have trouble leaving again.

  3. After the approval at the embassy, they will have you go to the DHL kiosk outside of the building but still in the embassy walls to fill out the paperwork to get the visa in the passport, we had the choice of getting it delivered or picking it up at the DHL office in Lima. We had our interview on a Monday and picked it up at the DHL office on the Wednesday and left for the USA that night, although I hear we were pretty lucky and processing times can vary. I hope this helps and good luck with your journey.

So will DHL deliver it to the applicant? My Fiancee lives in Uganda but will have to go to Kenya for her interview. If it were possible it would be nice for her not to have to stay in Kenya for a week waiting. Perhaps she could pick it up at some DHL office in Uganda. Any ideas?

  4. its pathetic, were starting to have little arguements sometimes because of the distance between us....this is really hard to do, and dont think it should take this long

i know what u mean about little arguments over the distance...it's really tough being apart from the one you love..just have to keep our hopes up.

I know exactly what you mean - we go thru the ups and downs , stupid arguements - lack of patience and wondering day after day when we can finally be together and just start living - sick of the phone glued to my side sick of checking the uscis website. Its 6 1/2 + months since our NOA1 and im so ready for the next stage....

    god help us all

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Somedays communicating over Skype is so difficult that all we can do is talk about fluff. I've never been much of a phone talker and she's not much of a writer, so some days the patience wears thin. I really hope VSC pics up for everyone just like CSC.

I wonder if this sudden flood of approvals, if it keeps up, will lead to a new backup downstream at NVC and then at the consulates. I'm not complaining, it's just a thought.

I doubt it will make a huge difference there. It's just a surge from the CSC, besides its in the Department of State's hands now. I have friends who work for State and they consider the USCIS very inefficient. USeless is how they refer to it.cool.gif

  6. My fiancée Ms Glenmar woke me up this morning with our regular Viber text message. As I looked at my mobile I noticed I had received a text from USCIS. It worked out wonderfully as I was able to call her and check my case status at the same time. We both got the news together. I want to thank all the vj people who Didn't sit around and just take the CSC slow down injustice. Guys we did something about it didn't we!!! CSC is approving at a very fast rate now. July filers and early August filers my heart is with you. I really believe you will get yours next week.

April 19th has been a good day for many of us! It was great to call my fiancee with the news this morning! Congrats!

  7. Yeah, I keep telling my fiancée " service for most things in the US is usually pretty good...except all the things we have to deal with to get you here". And she's like "ok, yeah, sure"

Other than being frustrated with Government, my fiancee understands. Unfortunately however her family has been far less than gracious. They keep telling her that I'm scamming her and that she will never come, even though they all know me from my nearly two years working in Uganda. It's really stressing my fiancee out with all the aunties and uncles making snide remarks.

  8. Hello my fellow VJ users. Nothing makes me more happy then see average of 7 K1 approves a day in CSC. I know they have kind of skipped over the July - Oct but at least they are moving forward.

I'm really glad they are back up, but they really should get their act together for the earlier filers. I'm Sept, but there are people waiting from July! I'm sure they would like to get on with their life.

  9. If you look at the immigration timelines list instead of Igor's list I count at least 8 Sept NOA2s not simply "ONE". So before you tell people they are sending out wrong info, make sure you check your own facts first.

LOL @ "most of them are from Sept-Oct filers and SO MANY of them are from Sept-Oct".

Seriously?? Where are you people getting all that? I know July-August filers are depressed and frustrated, I understand that and I honestly feel your painful agony towards this, BUT will you people PLEASE stop spreading rumors and wrong informations?? Cos I don't see any approvals for October. I've seen ONE approval for September, BUT you can't call that "most and so many" LOL! If I'm not mistaken, last months approval for October was an expedite and there are "no" so many and most of them approvals for Sept-Oct on that month also, there are few but not SO MANY, LOL! Be careful with your words. A lot of Sept-Oct filers will be upset with you guys if you keep on saying that, some people here are starting to believe your wrong infos.helpsmilie.gif

I attached a screenshot of Igor's List, see for yourselves if you see many approvals for Sept and Oct, I'll be more than happy to see if there's at least one LOL!

  10. I just believe they are either training some new employees on more recent cases or someone grab from the wrong box/pile. But at least they are approving NOA2s.

Is the concept First In First Out so hard for them to comprehend? I feel really bad for those July filers who are still waiting and a little miffed for our case which was filed in early September. Seriously I think they just love to play with our emotions.

  11. This is beyond unacceptable. US Citizens filed this petition and paid good money for it. There is absolutely no reason that ANY group, business, illegal, whatever should be put ahead of citizens. It should be a USCIS policy regardless of Presidential mandates. I can understand having a set processing time, say 6 months to allow passions to cool down and make sure folks are really ready to get married, however this fickle up and down, bounce you about nonsense should not be acceptable. I know people will reply that this is government and we should just wait but why? If the DMV were to slow down it's processing of drivers licenses, etc do you think that people would put up with it? "Oh sorry, we are behind, currently we are processing pink licenses for dreamers, we'll get to you next month" can you even imagine the outrage? I'm sorry, but from what I have read on these forums it doesn't sound like the USCIS processing takes much longer for than for the DMV processing your license. Considering it is multiple times more expensive.

It's time for the people here who are just like "Whatever just wait" to switch off and for a little outrage to switch on. If a group of illegals who don't have to pay anything to process their application can get set ahead of the legitimate citizens what are we coming to? Google DACA and the first link is a special interest group that wants illegals go come on board because they will be more sympathetic to their cause. This should be outrageous to any citizen regardless of political affiliation. I personally believe immigrants are a huge asset to this nation and agree with many economists who feel that in the not to far future, advanced nations will be competing for immigrants. However the idea that immigrants should essentially be given an open door because they are more likely to vote in a certain why should be a tasteless to Americans as gerrymandering.

Sorry for the rant, but as long as people are willing to sit back and say "that's the way government is" without remembering in which country they live (a place where people can apply pressure and change things) nothing will change. We should talking to various organizations to see if their is a lobbying day in Washington focused on immigration. If not we should set one up. Folks who are being served by the various other service centers should pay attention as well, things might be going OK at VSC now, but what if they get overloaded with a bunch of these DACA applications as well?

  12. Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm curius....How does someone "accidentally register to vote"?

    The Motor-Voter bill.

No, you are not the only one, I was wondering that myself!

Many states are pushing voter registration through the local DMV. One of my good friends registered this way before she received her citizenship. The good news is that there is hope, my friend was finally given citizenship. The bad news is that it will be a lengthy and very expensive legal battle which you might loose. My friend is married to a citizen and has two children who are citizens from birth, yet the USCIS was ready to permanently deport her. If I remember correctly she did actually vote. In the case of my friend, the DMV worker pushed her to register and said there would be now issues, so that was a factor in her favor in this particular case.

I would suggest that you get good legal advice quickly.

  13. I'm also guessing that the date will not change very much, if at all, limiting the amount of complaints they will receive, since most will still be "within current processing times".

It's disappointing that "current processing times" don't track with their stated 5 month goal. Heaven forbid that we should be allowed to fuss over USCIS not hitting their own stated goals. Perhaps if congress forbade the agency from cashing our checks before the petitions are processed we would see a real change.
