  1. Hello Vjers,

I did my N 400 Test and Interview in August 21 , 2012 and i got the letter of approval.

I keep calling and calling the Service center and i get the same answer again and again "wait for ur letter".

It's almost 60 days and am still waiting for the letter of Oath Ceremony. How Long is too long and what is the best thing for me to do?

    I appreciate ur ideas.

  2. Hi

Does anyone know how long it will take to petition my step son and daughter

from the Philippines to the USA?

Is it any faster if I petition instead of my wife , a green card holder petitions?

    Thanks for any help

    :help:

My USC husband petitioned my 2 kids and it only took 6 months for the whole process. It would be better and faster approval if u the USC is the one petitioning them as ur stepkids.

  3. Hello

Does anyone has a child that has when to the K1 interview with them in Manila? If so what questions can the child expect at the interviw. He is 12 years old. Thanks

My 2 kids ages 12 and 9 that time did not go with my during my k1 interview in 2007. Both my kids had their interview for their I-130 petition.

Questions asked are very basic..like name of the mother and the petitioner , what the petitioner do for a living? birthdays, etc ,etc just very basic.

  4. hello to all

my wife and i have been married for over a year. she entered the US on a K-1 visa.

the follow to join benefits have expired for us.

my question is in regards to filing for my wifes children.

what is the best way to file the I-130 for their CR2 visas?

    1. file as a US citizen and as a step parent to the children?

    2. let my wife file as a LPR?

all of your replies will be helpful

    thanks

    kirk and grace

Its better if the USC spouse is filing I-130 for the kids. That's what we did with my 2kids.

  5. What is the best way to bring a wedding dress to the US without getting it crushed or soiled? Will using a shipping carrier work? Should she take it as a carry on on the plane as a hand item? If so how should she pack it and meet the Delta travel criteria? Any ideas will be appreciated.

I had my wedding dress made to order from the Philippines. I just had to wrap it with a plastic or garment bag and put it in a luggage bag. When i came here my dress looks still the same. I had it as my checked in luggage and not carry on.

  6. I want to send some items to my fiancee and family. I have an idea of things to send, but like some of your thoughts on items they would like or need. This box is going to the Province and not Manila. Thanks in advance.

Basic commodities is good since these items are expensive in the Philippines. Items like toothpase, shampoo, bath soap, lotion and etc.

  7. Hello everyone,

I was just looking for other VJ members who live in North Carolina with fiancee from the Philippines. I was wondering if there are any filipino groups in the state as well as any large asian markets. I hope to make her adjustment here as easy as possible. Any ideas or suggestion would be most helpful.

depends on which part of NC. I am from GA but has lots of pinay friends in NC. Facebook would help her overcome home sickness.

  8. Hello fellow vj members,

I really need your help. I was supposed to have my N 400 interview in June 7 2012,. They had it rescheduled to August 21.

I been waiting for the letter for the oath taking schedule. It's almost a month now after i had my interview and still did not receive any letter with regards to my oath taking.

I had a name change. All my legal documents are Maria Juana Smith and during the interview the IO said i can not use Juana as my middle name which is what i use in all my documents, cards ,etc.

ANyway to make the story short the IO said i have to have the name change which i did and did not know if it really matters or not to change my name if i wanna still use JUana as my middle name.

Anyway they gave me a paper for a name change and until now i don't know When and When and how long is it gonna be before i can be sworn in. any idea or estimate maybe how many months i should be waiting still?

Is there any way i canbe sworn in by someone or whatver way? Thanks

  9. Im not sure if this is the right forum for my post but I was hoping people could share their experiences when they went through tough times and how they overcame it. It can be pre or post immigration stories, personal issues etc. I know that myself (and maybe others here too) can benefit from hearing people's successful triumphs!

I would like to share my life/love story. I met my hubby online in 2003 and we started talking online since then . We talked for 3 long years until the day he came to the Philippines in March 2006 to meet me.

We got married in 2007, had our first child in 2008.

There were ups and down in our relationsip especially in finances. We were in the middle of petitioning my 2 kids in the Philippines in 2009 when he lost his job. But God made a way. Despite of the financial difficulties,,we never fight about money matters.

God is great my kids are here now with us (2010). He is still unemployed but our Love for each other and Faith In God made our relationship stronger.

We are still very much in love with each other and is now married for 5 years.

Me and my 2 kids just had our N-400 and am waiting for the oath taking ceremony.

With God There is Nothing Impossible! Love Always finds a way.I am blessed. If u all remember my name here before was happywifeymom, happyblessedme and now it became luvnlife07.

Good Luck to all who are still starting on their journey. I Believe TRUE LOVE waits and it moves in a mysterious ways.

  10. Hello fellow VJ members,

HOw are y'all? I had my N-400 interview and passed last August 21,2012 and when i checked the status today it says that my application is now placed for oath scheduling que.

If i get my Certificate of US Citizenship i am planning to get my 2 kids their proof of citizenship. I am not able to get the N-600 for it costs $600 for each.

    My questions are:

1.Is it okay to just get them the US passports as their proof of citizenship? Any other proof i can get aside from N-600 which is very expensive?

    2. Are my 2 kids eligible to apply for a US passport once i get my certificate of naturalization? (kids are minor, 16 and 11) they came here in 2010 thru I-130 and was issued IR2 and they have their 10 yr green cards?

3.I just need to get the kids their proof of Us citizenship coz the way i understand it once i get my citizenship my kids will become citizens too..am i right?

    I would appreciate ur help.

  11. Hi everyone. I am a 10yr GC holder and just gave birth last July. I am now confused what's the fastest and secure route to take to bring my child back to USA.

Here are some of my concerns:

    1. I will be out of the USA for 8months total. Am I going to have problem with the immigration upon entering the USA again? I have proofs of keeping my ties, ie: taking online classes, keeping a US address, paying bills, etc.

    2. I need to be back in the USA first week of January in preparation for Spring sem but I am disturbed that my child's paper will not get here on time. Is CRBA my only option? I've read somewhere that if the mother is a green card holder, she may bring her child without a US passport just as long it is below 1yr old. Anyone knows about it?

I was in the Philippines for almost 6 months in 2008 when i gave birth to our son. I did not have a problem coming back to USA as long as you have your green card.

If like you said the dad is a USC then your child is elegible to apply for CRBA provided he meet the eligibility requirements.

I did the CRBA and it only took me 10 days from the time of the application to getting everything. If he gets the CRBA then all you need is ur son's US passport as he don't need the visa.

What you heared is not true at all. I was a GC holder and my baby was only 2 months old when i brought him back here.

  12. No not yet. They gave me the option to have the oath taking in the afternoon that same day of the interview but since i decided to have a name change so they will just send me a letter of when i will have the oath taking.

    ---------------------

    Thank you..

my interview was done first week of august.. just did my oath taking 2 days ago..

You said you had your interview in August 2,,when did u get your letter for oath taking ? I did my interview in August 21 and still waiting for the letter.

  13. Hi everyone! I would like to apply for a US passport for my son but I'm not sure what to do or if he's even qualified for that. My US citizen husband petitioned for us and my son was given an IR2 visa. Do we jump straight to applying for a US passport or do we need to apply for a certificate of naturalization/citizenship first (not sure which of the two)? Thanks everyone for your help! :-)

Like what Anh Map said..is your USC husband the biological father of your son? If he is not then chances are ur son is not a USC since u mentioned your son was given an IR2 visa . If your son is a citizen then he don't need to have a visa to come to the United States. I assumed your son is not a citizen yet since you are not sure if he qualifies for a US passport. If you are sure that your son is a US citizen then there is no doubt that he can apply for a US passport.

  14. Hello all... I am wondring if anyone has any advice or experience with our problem. We applied and received our I-129F approval. It was then sent to NVC then onto Manila embassy. We are currently waiting for my fiance to recieve instructions

for her interview. I did obtain a copy of the instructions and she is busy gathering the interview documents. Here is the problem..... when I applied for the I-129f I was told her son coould automatically qualify for K-2 Visa as he is unmarried and under 21 and could follow her to the US within a year. However in reading the instructions from Manila they state he must be listed on the Visa. I called the the USCIS and they said contact Manila to see if anything could be done as it is now out of their jurisdiction.

I obviously received some bad advice from USCIS previously. Any ideas for us? thanks for you time to address this.

Did u list the child on the original K1 petition?

  16. Hello everyone.. Does anyone here done with their naturalization interview? How was it? What are the common and possible questions? I have my interview next week.. I studied and i review from time to time.. I just wanna know to make sure that is will just run smoothly. Thank you..

I had mine just this August 21 and it was very easy. I answered the first six questions.. they had me wrote one sentence and read one sentence and that was it.

    Good luck!

  17. Goodday Vj members!

Iam newbie here, let me give some info about me,Iam soon to be a K1 beneficiary & filipina. This problem bothering me so much !

I have 3 kids with my previous marriage , annulled 2011 but not stated about the custody of my children.Thier father never give any support from my kids but even before our marriage is like hell ,I experienced domestic violence & he is very irresponsible till I decided to end it yrs.ago bringing my kids with me after he beated me seriously when i was pregnant with our 3rd child.(saying he own me)

Finally i found my love of life thru internet 2009(american).He supported us all our needs, loved & cared for us .(definitely nice guy). Our relationship getting stronger & stronger each day we chatted .We met 2011 for 2 weeks here in the philippines & talking about our future then finally he going to start his petition for us this coming Sept.

Their bio-father refused to give consent for them( only using my kids to hassle me cos he dont like me to be happy & dont want any separation although he treated me like a punching bag, maid , made he more angry when i filed our annulment & granted .he currently living & working in middle east

he is out of the country but he still spite me & my fiancee using FB .(he got gf).I was talked to his father & sisters to talk to him & leave us alone.

my american bf is not rich guy , he got limited money to process the petition for me & children which is big amount we needed & i know it would not end to this by getting visa , there's more step to do ( airfare, marrying, aos etc. ) that needed money too!

I talked DSWD & Immigration about the consent, & visited their websites.I found out i don't need travel consent from the DSWD for my children & also stated in Immigration site that their exemption if u have a solo parent ID, which im getting now.We want to save some money & use it wisely for our visa, thats why as long possible im looking for another way not to get court orders ( cos money involve) .If there's no choice we will file a sole custody but i have to left behind my 2 children here & get them after 2 yrs until we save money again ,my lawyer who handled my annulment before saying I need more 100k for this case, we dont have money anymore for it .We dont want it to be happen to leave them & my heart's melt every time my kids saying'MAMA DON'T LEAVE ME' even its for a while

    heres my question!

do i really need to get a court order ? how much ? how long it takes? if no other way

anybody there experienced using their solo parent ID successfully w/o any hassle from immigration& embassy?

looking forward to hear replies from VJ members who can relate on this situation.

    Thank you so much!

Hey there ,,i feel you as ur situation was almost the same with me with my ex but the only difference is that i only had two kids and we were not legally married.

Solo parent Id is not that hard to get from DSWD. When u go there do not mention about your fiancee now giving you financial support for u and ur kids.

Solo parent id means u are the one supporting your kids with no one's help. I did that and i had the SOLO parent id. They may need the biological father's consent when it is time for the kids to travel out of the country. It was easier on my case coz my kids was in my custody and we were not legally married.

I was able to bring my kids here with no problem but i had to wait for the right time to get them here.

  18. You should make an appointment with a counsellor for the school you want to attend. They will help you get your degree assessed so that it will minimize the classes you need to take at the college.

I'm not sure if all colleges do this, but some give english proficiency test to determine if ESL classes will be required before attending the additional classes to earn your BSN. I know my college does this for all students, both USC and Foreign students.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you so much. I would definetely do that for sure.

  19. I have NSo copy.Im a late registered thats why im worried. I just want to avoid delay if ever they will ask right? But like what they said its better to be prepared. Thanks

I don't think they will ask for your baptismal certificate. I did not have one and never had one in my hand. I was late registered too and so is my daughter and never had a problem with the paper works. As long as you can provide the authenticated Birth Certificate from NSO then you will be fine.

  20. Hello fellow members,

I really would appreciate whoever can give me ideas on my concern. I had a Bachelors Degree in the Philippines years ago and now i wanted to go to school and take BSN.

I do not know where and how to start. One of the benefits where i am working now is scholarship grants which they will send their employeeds who are interested to g o to school while working.

I am currently employed in a hospital right now and really would l;ike to take BSN.

Any idea what is the best thing for me to do to be able to start? Thanks.
