  1. Congratulations  We know how you feel, ours took 206 days, we are so happy. Now we are waiting on our case #. What part of Jersey, I grew up in New Jersey (Somerset County).

Jersey City, the bad part. Not that there's a good part. :)

  2. I don't post here much, but following everyone else's stories and reading updates has kept me upbeat about this whole process. My application was a work of art, literally. Every t crossed, every i dotted. every photo dated, labeled, cross referened with passport stamp, plane tickets, and hotel reservations. It could not have been more organized. I never had any doubt we would get approved. Just didn't think it would happen until after the 220 day mark given waht I've been reading around here.

Anyway, after 204 days of waiting since recieving our NOA1, we have recieved our NOA2!

Just wanted to say thanks everyone for sharing their journey here.

  3. My serious two cents now that I've had my coffee. Everyone relationship is fraught with the issues some internal to the couple, some external. You decide and learn to ignore them, deal with them, or they drive a wedge. At some point the romance wears off enough that you have to consciously decide to make a relationship work.

Very few couples are lucky enough that everything falls into place.

Ok starting to sound cliche here.

  4. Don't forget to budget some money for eating at the airport, buying some snacks for the LONG flight, taxi service to the airport, and some food budget for where ever the layover is. i know they serve food on the planes, typically at least twice on the long haul portion of the flight, but other than Cathay Pacific, I've always found the food to be atrocious.

  5. Having flown back and forth more than two dozen times in the last 7 years, I would say, ALWAYS pre-plan your trips months in advance.

If for some reason you need to fly there with less than one month notice, expect to pay significantly more for your ticket.

January through early May, tickets are cheapest.

July though early September, tickets are most expensive.

You can only get a ticket with no penalties for changing your flight if you are frequent flyer (of high status), you are flying "premium economy", business class, or higher, or you fly standby (which really sucks).

If you have fly back because of a death in the family, you can usually get discounted tickets directly from the airline if you provide proof relationship and proof of death.

Otherwise, pay the higher price for a last minute ticket if you have/want to fly on short notice.

  6. Actually, technically, you don't need other people's opinions. you need them to lecture/teach you what to do. it's not a matter of opinion as to what to do but a matter of fact. anyway, that's semantics i suppose since what you really meant was you'd like him to be more polite in the way he responded to your questions. nothing wrong with that at all. good luck in your journey. you shouldn't have any problems and it shouldn't be difficult to move your appointment yourself.

  7. I've done Insanity workouts off and on for the last year. They are intense in terms of the amount of cardio required. If you are not used to endurance workouts, they will at first will very difficult.

    Some advice on attempting insanity.

    1. Follow the exact program or not, follow the calendar or not, but if you don't follow up with proper nutrition, results will be minimal if anything at all.

    2. Don't be afraid to hit the pause button and catch your breath. These workouts were meant to fit into the time they were editted into. you don't have to keep up, esspecially if its you're first go around. Esspecially in the Pure Cardio workout and the Plyometrics work out. you are given like 30 seconds usually to get your heart rate down. That's not nearly enough time for me.

    3. Do an extra Cardio Abs workout every now and then in conjuntion with the other workouts once you get comfortale with the routine.

    4. Add some actually running/biking/swimming into your workout routines once you start seeing results.

    5. Don't injure yourself. If you feel genuine pain in any of your tendons in your feet/ankles, or genuine pain in your knees STOP. Muscle soreness from a good workout is a good thing, but genuine pain from having over worked a tendon is bad.

    6. Everything I just said is related to my own expreince with Instanity workouts. your mileage may vary.

    Good luck!
